It's so much higher than I thought, was hoping for top 10 the whole week.

The more I listen and digest this project, the more its brilliance reveals itself — even down to the title. David clearly had an issue with her working in his field on the West End. The album itself u

  • I've absolutely loved reading everyone's thoughts; it's so nice to see us all connect through shared feelings of this unexpected, special album. I knew what the main subject of the album was going in

Didn’t really notice this myself until a friend pointed it out to me a few moments ago, but the strings at the start of Pussy Palace are very Stranger Things theme coded… intentional? I assume so?

Its great for her, if she had physicals she would be safely top 3.

Can't stop thinking about the album.

Madeline is a firm favourite now. That and RUminating are my top 2.

The success is so deserved. And it'll get another boost in January too, so this era is here to stay!

The increases!

This has to be the most exciting chart moment of 2025 (for me anyway). I was just looking forward to new music, I didn't think it would make much of a dent in the charts at all. It's really exciting to follow.

All songs climbing massively!!!

Pussy Palace up to 12!

Ahhhh I’m buzzing for her this really is a moment!

Edit I’m at work so can’t update properly but Madeline is up to 16!!!!!!! Woahhhh!

I agree, this feels like the most unexpected chart event in some time and it's been really enjoyable to watch. I am really curious if today is the peak or if there is any more room to grow from here. I kind of feel like we must be at the top of the wave now.

I’m just addicted.

I’d love for it to go even higher but I do think it’s hit its peak. Excited to check each day though !

Finally got round to listening to this as I’m a huge fan of her lyricism. Holy f’balls, this is absolutely amazing. I hate how much I relate to it, a few lyrics almost had me sobbing. I feel like she’s singing a book to me, have to go through it again.

Absolutely brilliant album, feels like classic Lily in that it’s so lyrically honest, plain yet sparkly, raw and unfiltered, but I think sonically the depth of influences does feel like No Shame too. I’m so glad to see it is taking off despite a rushed release, feels like such a huge moment which her talent deserves.

Lily on Metacritic:

Alright, Still 79

It's Not Me, It's You 71

Sheezus 60

No Shame 74

West End Girl 86

Damnnnnn!!!

I listened to a couple of songs earlier in the week and didn't really think anything of them.

But this morning listened to Pussy Palace and a fair few others - then read a bit of the background and it all kinda clicked. So am listening to the album through from the start and it is strong album - amazing how much its taken off too.

Also agreed with PP beginning sounding very Stranger Things theme

Well, this is really quite a ride, isn't it? I have alot of thoughts!

It feels mostly along the same lines as I remember "No Shame" being, thematically, but that makes sense seeing as most of that album seemed to be about her last marriage breakdown and her perspectives around that. This album slightly more uptempo that that was, but that's kinda a good thing; it could have ended up feeling like a rehash of what she's done before, but instead it feels fresh! (not that most people would notice, as "No Shame" was basically slept on...)

It's kinda sad that Lily seems to be at her creative best when she's unsettled:

  • The last two albums being about marriage/life struggles

  • Most of "It's Not Me, It's You" being about worries about the state of the world/her future etc

  • The highlight of "Sheezus" ('Hard Out Here') being about her frustration with society's attitudes towards women

Then on the flip side:

  • The rest of "Sheezus" not really hitting the mark, which feels widely regarded as her worst album: at the time she was (seemingly) happily married: the album was seen as quite unfocused with the song/writing quality not really up to her usual standards (some generic songs "Air Balloon"/some near-enough rehashes of past hits "As Long As I Got You" [which, as much as I enjoy, is pretty much Ctrl C/Ctrl V "Not Fair" haha])

As for the lyrics... Yeah, they're something to unpick. I can REALLY relate to this: I know lots of people in open relationships (and may or may not be in one myself lol), so I know the intricacies that come with them, and know that the only way they will ever work is if everyone in the relationship is comfortable talking about it, and (most importantly) are genuinely happy with it/not just going along with it because it's what their partner wants. It must be difficult if you feel your voice isn't heard, so I can understand why Lily wanted to write about this!

A highlight of this album for me, which I haven't seen much noise around, is 'Nonmonogammummy'! Now that is a bop! 'Madeline', 'Pussy Palace' and '4chan Stan' are right up there with it!

8/10. Great album!

An album that really benefits being listened to in track order. Really enjoying it, Lily back to her narrative lyrical best.

What a delicious takedown!

Lily’s often hit/miss for me. Her first two albums were definitely my favourites from her then Sheezus and No Shame I’d say had me feeling luke warm. This is definitely more instant of first listen and is on par I’d say with the first two albums.

I’ve already wanted to hear some tracks again!

OK took a couple of listens but definitely did not expect to be going back to this every day this week definitely one of my favourite of the year
