Ravyn Lenae makes dreamy, atmospheric R&B with honey-sweet vocals. She arrived during the latter half of 2010s with a trio of EPs which touched on styles ranging from house to synth-funk, with 2018's CRUSH EP heralded by the popularity of its lead single "Sticky.” HYPNOS, her critically acclaimed full-length debut album, was released in 2022 via Atlantic Records. The Chicago-born songstress' sophomore studio album, BIRD'S EYE, arrived in 2024 and was once again met with incredible praise from critics and fans alike. The ‘90s saw many alternative rock bands take tentative toe-dips into Top 40 pop, but none made as dramatic and extreme a leap from the left to the right side of the dial as The Goo Goo Dolls. In their late-’80s infancy, the Buffalo natives were a ragtag power trio flexing enough hardcore heft to get them signed to heavy-music imprint Metal Blade. But as irreverent bassist/singer Robby Takac began to cede lead vocal duties to the band’s resident rugged romantic, guitarist Johnny Rzeznik, their sound settled into a more tuneful style of punky power pop. Once the band scored their first hit single in 1995 with the wistful, Westerbergian serenade “Name,” The Goo Goo Dolls became a bellwether for a new strain of post-grunge, adult-contemporary rock that reached its zenith with 1998’s string-swept power ballad “Iris”—at which point the group seemed less like a replacement for The Replacements than a big-brother act to emergent TRL phenoms like Matchbox 20 and Third Eye Blind. And they’ve continued to finesse that formula into the 21st century, cementing their rarefied position as the only band that started out playing punk dives with The Dead Milkmen and ended up headlining amphitheaters with Daughtry. - Apple Music

Spoilers - Iris is back in at number 39. It originally peaked at No.26 in 1999 and again at No.3 in 2011. TBH, I'd describe this as the most early 2010s ballad of the 90s!

A song I really don't need to hear ever again at this point.

It was bound to happen sooner or later lol. I’m not too fussed, it’s not one I’m particularly keen on but it’s also not one of these eternal hits I’ve heard too much so it’s not overplayed for me

Berghain would sound fresh in any context, but following Love Me Not and 27 year old Iris, it'll sound fresh out of the WOMB.

I bet nobody in 1999 called it re-entering the chart in 26 years time.

Tuning in to hear 'Iris' of all songs had me concerned about 'Berghain' but I see Jack did apparently already confirm that had entered... as long as he wasn't lying xx
