  • The cut off point has been reached! It's the same points score as last year. 101 singles had a points total greater than 61 points. There were two on 62 points so I've allowed them both through rathe

VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED Thanks to the 40 people who voted. The results will start this evening.

  • Having a slice of toast while watching the evening news in honour. “I Hear You Now” was a gorgeous discovery at the 80s hit sessions, but I couldn’t quite fit it into my votes.

Freemasons featuring Bailey Tzuke - Uninvited

Inner City - Big Fun

Michael Jackson with The Jackson Five - I Want You Back

Love Inc. - Broken Bones

Little Richard - Good Golly Miss Molly

Mitski - My Love Mine All Mine

Hazel O'Connor - Will You

The Orb - Blue Room

Holly Valance - State Of Mind

Barry White - Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe

Robbie Williams - Lazy Days

In 1979, Judie Tzuke reached number 16 with the stunning ballad 'Stay With Me Till Dawn', one of my favourite songs from that year. Eight years later, she gave birth to Bailey who sung on this cover of the Alanis Morissette song in 2007. Another stunning ballad is Will You by Hazel O'Connor from 1981 with that long saxophone solo at the end. We've already had the group Big Fun on six points, now they appear as a song title for Inner City. Robbie Williams loses a second song but still has one left. With a length of 39 minutes and 58 seconds, Blue Room by The Orb is the longest ever chart single.

Losing songs in quicker succession now and today it's the wonderful 'Blue Room' (and its legendary chess TOTP performance) *.* 💙

funny that 'Lazy Days' is out in the same section as Robbie said that Orb TOTP performance had a profound impact on him!

Poor Cruel Summer and Will You?

At least there is another Cruel Summer to come.

Loving ‘Big Fun’ too but it just missed out on points from me.

There is still only one song that nobody else gave points for except me (Suspicious Minds). But I guess generally cover versions don’t do very well in this.

The Jackson 5 the worst casualty here

The original was a #2 hit in 1970 - the version here is a 1988 remix (that I don't think I've heard).

Bucks Fizz - New Beginning (Mamba Seyra)

Cola Boy - 7 Ways To Love

Electric Light Orchestra - Telephone Line

Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You

Kele Le Roc - My Love

Annie Lennox - Walking On Broken Glass

Rage Against The Machine - Bulls On Parade

Tina Turner - I Don't Wanna Lose You

With one of Louis Clark's best string arrangements, this was the third single to be taken from ELO's sixth album, 'A New World Record'. The dialling tone at the start was recorded by dialling a real American telephone number which Jeff Lynne knew would not be answered. The drum heavy New Beginning (Mamba Seyra) was Bucks Fizz's first top 10 hit for three years but sadly their last. Kele Le Roc loses the second of her two songs and it's also the end for the fabulous soft rock classic, Waiting For A Like You by Foreigner.

Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin - I Like It

Jimmy Helms – Gonna Make You An Offer You Can't Refuse

Jax Jones and Years & Years - Play

Alicia Keys - Doesn't Mean Anything

Scouting For Girls - Elvis Ain't Dead

Ed Sheeran - Supermarket Flowers

From 1973, this was the only solo hit for Jimmy Helms but he had some more in the late 80s/early 90s with Londonbeat, including the number 2 single 'I've Been Thinking About You'. I thought the fashions here didn't look like 1973 but I see this performance was filmed in 1984. Elsewhere, there's a 21st Century look to this list with Ed Sheeran making his second appearance of the day.

"Bulls On Parade" is my second loss, some great guitar work from Tom Morello on that track. Thought Uninvited would've got through, wish I had voted for it now!

Quite a lot more songs I like going out.

'Telephone Line' by ELO is a good but sad song.

The great synth riff in Foreigner's 'Waiting For A Girl Like You' is easily the best part, lyrics are a bit trite in comparison.

Cola Boy's '7 Ways To Love' is a good dance track maybe I should have given it some points. Also Inner City - Big Fun is a good dance track too.

'Walking on Broken Glass' a good Annie Lennox song preferable I think to previous biggest solo hit 'Why'.

'Broken Bones' by Love Inc. I prefer to 'You're A Superstar'

Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin - I Like It is a bop too, the song it samples is often used in Strictly and adverts like for Aldi but not the Cardi + Friends version sadly!

'Bad Day' is the second loss from my votes (my bottom two out). I first heard it when I saw R.E.M. at Glastonbury in 2003, and couldn't believe how similar it sounded to 'It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)', but was pleased when it gave them another Top 10 hit.

Catching up with this after a few days away... is there a slight issue with the points here? I gave Bad Day +14 after moving Donna Summer down, so if jim has pointed it too, it should be on more than +14?

Ace Of Base - Cruel Summer

Double - The Captain Of Her Heart

Sabrina Johnston - Peace

Johnny Keating - The Theme From 'Z Cars' (Johnny Todd)

Ed Sheeran - Don't

Owner Of A Lonely Heart by Max Graham vs. Yes scored 25 points but has been disqualified as it peaked at number 9

From 1986, this was the only top 40 hit for the Swiss duo. Ace Of Base's cover of Cruel Summer bows out but the original is still to come. The theme from Z Cars was a hit in 1962 but lives on at Everton FC.

I tried to like this with a heart but it only lets you use a red heart not a blue one...

Didn't find space for Univited but it's a great song and surprised to see it out this early. Had no idea it's a cover of an Alanis song!

Bloody hell, these results are revealed in such quick session that you don't get a chance to respond on each individual set of songs!

I'm equally shocked and gutted to see the masterpiece that is Robbie's 'Lazy Days' finish on only 26 points cry I gave it 20 of those points, so well done to whoever gave it the other 6! The ironic thing is, 'Lazy Days' sounds more Britpop to me than any song on his Britpop album lol

Nothing can beat Bananarama's original version of 'Cruel Summer' (no, not even Taylor's namesake of a song) but I do really like Ace of Base's version too - it's funny how they both got to #8. Looking forward to seeing how many points the Bananarama version will get!

Yes, it should have 15 but it was too fiddly for me to adjust the scores of all the people who changed their votes after dropping Donna Summer so some song's scores might be out by one point. I've checked the scores of all the songs near the cutoff point to make sure they are correct after any adjustments to people's votes.

One person just swapped I Feel Love for a new song so that one was added to the scoreboard.

Sorry, but the early evening is the only convenient time for me to do the results. There is about half an hour between each post for anyone who is online at that time to comment.

I lost 2 songs in the last 2 days: the dance classic 7 Ways to Love and the disco classic Let's All Chant, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one to vote for both.

I didn't realise that someone else had voted for Elephant Stone. Very good.

I gave Lazy Days 5 of the other 6! As you say, really quite Britpop.
