  • You clearly haven’t been frequenting the pubs I have in recent weeks!

  • People don't need to understand a song to enjoy it. (It was already a top 40 hit on its original release long before he had anything to do with the Super Bowl btw...)

Official Charts Report

Grammy Award winning Olivia Dean is in pole position to secure her second Number 1 single with So Easy (To Fall In Love).

With the BRITs on the horizon, in which the 26-year-old is nominated for awards in five categories, the well-loved hit could join her maiden Number 1 Man I Need which she earnt last October.

So Easy (To Fall In Love) has been a constant in the Top 40, peaking at Number 3 in December 2025. Can the song now go all the way and become the star’s latest chart-topper?

2026 has already seen Olivia attain the accolade of longest running Number 1 album by a British female this decade with The Art of Loving, and she seems to be going from strength to strength with each passing week.

And it doesn’t stop there. Sam Fender and Dean’s team up Rein Me In is also battling for top spot, currently up three places (2). After equalling its charting highest position last week, the acclaimed tune is eyeing a possible first Number 1 single for the Geordie star.

Swedish pop idol Zara Larsson and Lush Life is set to equal its personal best spot, on track to move four (3). The song first claimed this place almost ten years ago, with a real full-circle moment possibly on the cards.

Moreover, Stateside from PinkPantheress and Zara may move one to a new peak following its debut entry inside the Top 10 last week (9).

sombr’s homewrecker is on track to rise six places, possibly earning the American his fourth Top 10 accomplishment (8).

Having freshly acquired a first Top 5 single with DtMF, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny may see movement for NUEVAYoL, up four places (11) as well as a potential highest new entry for 2022’s Tití Me Preguntó (15).

Milky’s Just The Way You Are is set to make more history, looking to elevate six places into the Top 20 as the remix courtesy of Mall Grab continues to win further admirers (17).

Elsewhere, Charli xcx may find three tracks from the Wuthering Heights soundtrack in Always Everywhere (24), Chains of Love (29) and Dying For You (32) make the Top 40. Chains of Love originally entered the charts in November at Number 26.

Following the surprise announcement of his upcoming album ALL ROADS LEAD TO HOME coming in March, Central Cee’s latest single from the project ICEMAN FREESTYLE, is set for another main chart entry (25).

Luke Combs and Be By You could be the American country sensation’s third Top 40 (26).

Fred again’s latest collaboration with Jamie T Lights Burn Dimmer is on for a Top 40 (30), possibly Jamie’s first since 2014.

Finally, breakthrough artist Bella Kay may find her banger iloveitiloveitiloveit soar further up the standings, following its Top 40 debut last week (36).

Very interesting week as I honestly can’t call who will get number 1 in the singles with Raindance & Where is my husband off to ACR, would honestly put bad bunny as the favorite unless he continues to drop quite a bit as the week goes on, if he does I’d probably say Rein Me In?

Hope Charli can nab a #1 album this week, I noticed her team added signed art cards to her store earlier. The accompanying film looks set to be massive too. Not that it always means anything... see the Avatar franchise being allergic to hit making. But still, Charli's tracks seem to be off to a good start on Apple at least.

^ Bad Bunny and Charli at #1 in the singles and albums would be exquisite taste from the public but I won't get too ahead of myself there lol as I imagine the momentum for the former will continue to drop off, but we'll see. Cassettes to be deployed now por favor

With RAYE and Dave both going ACR next week, I hope Bad Bunny can stop Rein Me In from going to number 1

I think at this point it is Sam and Olivia's to lose, the track seems to be going semi-viral right now I've noticed (I've seen it dotted across quite a few edits on TikTok) but I certainly would not be opposed to see it at the top (I would take anything over 'Opalite' at this point 😭 ).

Bad Bunny at least in the top 3 would be lovely and I'm sure Charli has the #1 album in the bag, pls 🙏

All versions of RMI are 59p on itunes , and bad bunny has been steadily declining no guarantees

The physicals for Kylie’s Tension Live album are out this week, only from her official site but I imagine it’ll still make quite an impact in the charts.

Rein Me In has been steadily growing on Spotify this week, reaching a new peak of number 5 on Thursday.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I noticed a weird anomaly today. Now that both ‘Opalite’ and ‘…Husband’ have reached number 1 it means the last song to peak at #2 on the charts was ‘No Broke Boys’ back in August last year and before that ‘Love Me Not’ in May 25. Apart from those two I think there are pretty much no other number 2 peaks in the last 12 months (since APT last left number 2)?

Through chart history I’ve been quite fond of a ‘close but not quite’ #2 peak so I’m sorry to see it disappear if that’s the case, I’m sure we’ve all got our favourites!

So is it just a transient situation or likely to continue in the future? I’ve not yet checked but maybe it applies to the other higher chart peaks 3,4,5 etc?

What’s the likely cause, maybe just a symptom of the charts being more stagnant? Or perhaps once a song has managed to reach the difficult #2 placing, the momentum is such that #1 has become almost inevitable?

I’d value your thoughts.

I guess there are just a lot of #1s that go on to have extended runs at #2 after dropping from the top of late?

On the topic of weird anomalies, I do also notice that aside from 'Aperture' all of this year's #1s so far have been songs that had an initial run in the top 10 then dropped out before climbing back in to make #1 for the first time (and ofc if 'Rein Me In' is the next #1 that is that trope on steroids)!

Interesting week. My prediction is that the bad bunny songs will drop like a stone as the superbowl hype dissipates. Interesting too how the Harry Styles song has underperformed. Yes it debuted at number 1 but it sank rapidly since then and is being out sold/streamed by older songs which are on ACR. His team must be very worried. Maybe he's been away too long and his fans have moved on?

I think if a bunch of us on a random music forum knew from day one that 'Aperture' is clearly not a very commercial song and was never going to be that big of a hit beyond the initial hype, the label are not stupid enough to think otherwise either. They must have a good amount of faith in him to even let him release it as the lead single.

He's playing a record-breaking 12 shows in one go at Wembley Stadium this summer, I don't think he's in any trouble...! Aperture just isn't that commercial a song. I expect the album will still do very well.

Tbf Coldplay only had mid to low top 40s during their record breaking Wembley run , not that I dont expect harry to debut very high with his next 🤣

I mean, they're both at totally different points in their career, but that also wasn't a concern for Coldplay kink

I doubt they're worried, he's made a conscious decision to release a completely uncommercially-friendly song that's 5 minutes long. I doubt it'll affect his career or the campaign even slightly.

The Giver also peaked at #2 in March. While the final peak of songs like Rein Me In, So Easy (To Fall In Love) and DTMF remain to be seen
#3 peaks include Elizabeth Taylor, Something In The Heavens, Tears, Eternity and Soda Pop just since summer.

#4 peaks include Which One?, Victory Lap and Nice To Each Other.

#5 peaks include Lullaby, Underneath The Tree, Your Idol and Sapphire.

So I'd say it's just a statistical anomaly where more songs have ended up with reaching #1 or just #3.
Among top 10 peaks, Pussy Palace has the only #8 peak since summer.
