Sunday at 21:552 days Congrats dhwe! You weren't far off my votes, I had the song at 12th in my ranking.Happy enough with my position, wasn't sure what to expect really. Although it was fun seeing some mentions in the beginning of this thread saying it could do well haha. Thanks gooddelta for hosting! Fun that I had the same 12 as the host x
Sunday at 22:112 days Congrats dhwe for the win! I didn't quite finish in the top half in the end then, but I'll settle for top 20. I guess Chromeo just had too many other bops to contend against! Thanks for a fun edition Rich, a great theme and very well executed
Sunday at 22:232 days Author Just a final point of note before I forget to mention it that the spreadsheet shows the votes in order of receipt.Essentially, Lucky Twice and A*Teens (plus The Veronicas who started strong then received no points for about 20 votes) ran off with it with those early pop dominated votes before running out of steam before Crystal Castles overtook and it became a foregone conclusion, and that was that really. The random vote reveal certainly made it more exciting to follow. But order of receipt was nevertheless an interesting story to tell for some people (e.g. I started super slow and then got three 12s in four votes in the middle <3) so worth a look.
Sunday at 22:242 days Thanks so much to everyone who pointed The Presets! I first discovered this through my 1001 songs to hear before you die book, despite the rousing chorus and club sounds, it's quite a dark song about asylum seekers to Australia being locked up in detention centres and it was intended to show solidarity with them hence 'locked up with my people' (this was back in 2007 so sadly some things never change throughout the world...), the production itself sounds very heavy and dark which adds to the vibe. It's become quite well known in Australia over the years, but not so much anywhere else.Very pleased it connected with enough of you for a top 10 (and great to see a 12 swap with Julian <3), and obviously fantastic to see my 10 pointer win as well, French Affair was also a great song and Lucky Twice was lodged in my head even if I didn't vote for it so a good top 3. My 12 was a wonderful discovery from Kaskade, I always enjoy them when I still hear their stuff and The White Stripes/Faithless were reliably good as well so good to see them do solidly. Thanks Rich for the wonderful hosting, gonna have a bit of a hangover from this party now x
Sunday at 22:452 days Happy with 9th. Thought it would end lower. Thank you! Looks like 'Skibidi' is cool enough 7+ years after release and despite that thing with toilet. Congrats to dhwe and my 10-pointer!
Sunday at 23:092 days I missed all of this and only caught up over breakfast.Congratulations @dhwe on the win!Well done everyone and thank you @gooddelta for doing a superb job as party host!
Monday at 01:072 days I've now gone 3 for 3 on giving my top points to the winner in the anonymous contests this year (following MARINA in PFSC Special and Space Art in The Best Song Contest In The World... Ever!) - of course BJSC remaining stubborn with the first winner of the year there continuing the streak of getting no points from me but at least I am more in tune with the tastes of the other contests apparently though I didn't vote for any of 2-4 here. Cool to see Kelis also in the top 5 and then the lower half of the top 10 is pretty great, including both of my other medals plus JEANS TEAM which I also ranked in my top 5, Kaskade who just missed out for me and the iconic Little Big. Particularly pleased The White Stripes did sneak in.I also voted for 2 of the bottom 5 though - I suppose it's not surprising to see Stenchman quite low here but still a very good discovery, I definitely would have thought La Oreja De Van Gogh would have done better though so boo. Chromeo and Yuki Kimura deserved better too.I was definitely expecting to be down there in the bottom 5 mix as well so very happy with a top half finish (albeit clinched due to the deduction for Hayley & Kehlani) - quite the top heavy points distribution as the three golds accounted for nearly 2/3 of my points and the rest of my points were 1-4 points each but it did the job, a bit of a shame I wasn't there to see any reaction to it on SyncTube but glad a few of you did enjoy it so much! (I see 3 12s is actually the joint most of any song oh my). It was a bit of an unserious entry really but it's good to finally cross off another song I wanted to send to one of the contests years ago. Thanks for the hosting Rich and interested to see what theme dhwe will go with should he take up the hosting next time ~
Monday at 06:311 day For @Chez Wombat and others who enjoyed “4am” I think this acoustic version is really special, although it wouldn’t have been suitable for the party theme.
Monday at 07:371 day A good experience all round for me, even if I’d have liked to finish higher than I did.I’ll certainly be back for the next edition..
Monday at 08:201 day Congrats to the winner - it wasn’t really close to scoring points for me but I can see the appeal Always nice to get some max points - even if the rest of the voting was tumbleweed for The Veronica’s :)
Monday at 09:271 day Well done dhwe! I kinda had that one down as a clear favourite when listening through the songs, one of the easiest 12s I've given in one of these although the Lucky song was a brilliant discovery as well and would have been equally happy with that prevailing. And of course French Affair was the only song I knew pre-contest and gave me big entry envy as had it come to my mind I probably would have tried submitting that myself. On the same lines I knew that my entry was absolutely doomed in this field as it was totally against the "sound" of the contest but I was simply unfortunate in that not a single song on either of my potentials playlists was eligible for this theme so had no choice but to dig through old Personal Charts and send something that I once considered for BJSC (good job it was never wasted there!) So no sour grapes whatsoever at propping up the table this time as it did sound so generic in a field of much more inspired entries.Big hand to gooddelta for hosting, was nice to be involved in this style of points reveal which you know I was a big fan of from being an observer in BJSC 180!
Monday at 17:241 day Haven't commented since it's finished but good winner, congrats dhwe. Great top 10 overall there. My 12 in French Affair coming 2nd is very pleasing to see. Funny that Wardy and I gave the same songs our 12 and 10 respectively too lol.Would've like Stenchman to be top 20 but is rather a novelty I guess so maybe as best as could do.Not really fussed about 'Rooftop' being 2nd to last as never been a big fan of it anyway but was in line with the party theme and was an old song me and Rich were discussing years back lol. Was reconfirming several times too oops (the other ones would have definitely stood much more of a chance tbh). Thanks for the smooth and fun hosting Rich as always. Hopefully a well earned break from hosting contests for a while now!

Rich also knew about it because we both own/ed Bravo Hits 2000 Also, I literally wanted to send this to BJSC (one of my retro picks) as well for the longest, and it makes me wonder how would had fared there

I have no recollection of it being played in the UK at all but The Box probably had it on for a bit.Lucky Twice however was plastered all over the music channels in 2007 but had its release cancelled IIRC. Nice that both songs saw some success finally here.
5 hours ago5 hr Thanks Rich for your hosting, it was certainly a fun theme.I just wanted to break my silence about choosing The Cheeky Girls as my artist for this theme. It was very much a spur of the moment decision to go for something that seemed novelty and fun and something that might be designed for a bop party of dance-pop. I always knew it was contentious especially with a live studio recording on TOTP but I wanted something to be iconic and get talked about and I think I achieved those two things with this entry. Thanks to all who gave points for it.
