It didn't come that far off, though. It sold 55,614 in week 1 (including 2,764 vinyl) to Sprinter's 61,918, Rein Me In sold 60,713 this week just gone, and perhaps will be lower by the time Olivia releases, but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion.

Not saying she can't do it, she definitely could, but I'm pre-empting the cries of "flop" if it "only" enters at #2

Yeah didn't vampire take something like 3 months to hit number 1 and that was only due to vinyls

Well with Rein Me In and iloveit looking to be heading on acr, not gonna need that high numbers to beat anyone the way everyone has been so far behind Sam and Bella's numbers

As much as I like Sam Fender, this very mid song by his earlier standards wouldn't have been anywhere near as successful in the physical or download days!

It's been a slow year so far for big songs that people have really latched onto so it's just there by default.

Hypersonic Missiles got to #48 (which seems insane now) and that's a thousand times better!

Agree, some of Sam’s earlier stuff is stellar but as a new artist he didn’t have the fanbase to secure hits however they have all gone onto be huge sellers

I love seeing the forum versus reality for ‘Rein Me In’

I was with family at the weekend, my nieces and nephews were all talking about the song, they had no idea it had been out 8+ months, had been #1 or was currently #1 - always amazes me how outside of core chart followers how unaware people are of what’s charting high or not.

I think most of the GP assume that if they hear a song on the radio and it is all over playlists that it must be a ‘hit’ regardless of if it’s #1 or #91 in the official charts.

I also think that’s why there is less fatigue of songs from the GP that are clogging up the top end of the charts - they are not aware that they are!.

Must be nice to not be annoyed by rein me in taking over

The great thing about streaming is you never need to hear any song ever again that you don’t want too - you don’t even hear it on TV music shows etc as they are not any.
