Official Charts Report

Noah Kahan could sink three new tracks inside the Top 40 following the release of his latest album, The Great Divide.

The American star, whose fourth LP dropped on Friday, currently sees Doors (9), End of August (17) and American Cars (19) all inside the Top 40. A strong week potentially on the cards for Noah!

After being knocked from their perch last week by Olivia Rodrigo’s drop dead, Rein Me In from Sam Fender and Olivia Dean will look to wrestle back their Number 1 crown and earn a ninth non-consecutive week at the top, with the hit track currently out in front once more.

And with Dean beginning her bumper European tour, she may also see Baby Steps entering the fray (29).

Elsewhere, two dance bangers in Talk To You from ANOTR featuring 54 Ultra (23) and Prospa’s team-up with Cloonee on Free Your Mind (24) both look to rise significantly.

I hope Michael can top the album chart. Seeing as the soundtrack is credited to him, I expect it to chart in the album chart

Edited by Hadji

Looking at how the Apple Chart is going - the only New Entries will be by Noah Kahan (possibly The Great Divide will get reset - so only 1 new song), probably Michael Jackson (but possibly only Billie Jean will do well enough) and Olivia Dean, Baby Steps

It’ll certainly be Noah Kahan or Foo Fighters at #1 this week.

If it’s any of those two, it will more likely be the latter

To be fair, all 3 of those artists could get very solid physical sales. With Michael Jackson, I think only 1 posthumous album of his has reached number 1 - but fans are buying more physical products now than when he last released - so an artist with a big fan base has a chance of getting to number 1.

That said - the ‘Last Christmas’ soundtrack only reached number 9, and even though that wasn’t a biopic of George Michael, most of his biggest fans would have bought it.

Foo Fighters last album sold 44,513 in its first week back in 2023 though I’m not sure how much hype there’s been for this new album but should do about 35-40k. Even though Noah Kahan’s last album has been a constant seller I’m not sure if this one will top Foo Fighters sales but will probably sell well enough to be an easy Number 1 in a quieter week.

Michael Jackson’s harder to predict as it will depend on how the OCC distribute the streams between the soundtrack album and Essential Michael Jackson and of course how many physicals get sold, though Number 1’s was back in the Top 10 just a month or two back thanks to new vinyls so could be in for a Top 3 of high sales.

Yeah its hard to call it can see Noah having the clear streaming advantage bit theirs nothing to compare with for him as stick season grew into the juggernaut it became

On the other hand foo fighters have proven to pretty much always be decent album sellers but also 3 years is a long time in music

Didn't know that there's a soundtrack for Michael movie. Wonder if OCC will do their thing and count the streams of his hits to both the soundtrack and The Essential.

The Foos seem to have a more a real core fanbase so even without hype would expect it to see really well.

Not sure on Noah - he ‘only’ went to #1 here initially with the last album after he done signings, signed artcards, new version etc., plus he had huge hits under his belt from it.

I reckon Noah will take it, he’s got a strong fan base here selling out Hyde park last summer which was 65000 people plus there was big demand for his tour this autumn!

Likely to be a Foo, Noah, Michael top 3 for albums?

And that order is my initial guess.

Michael: The Soundtrack is on vinyl, cassette and CD, so it will be interesting to see how many physicals it shifts. The lack of any new recordings on it make it very much a product for collectors, mind. We could see both the soundtrack and The Essential Michael Jackson in the top 10.

Terrible release for fans but serves its purpose as a film soundtrack I guess.
