We live in exciting times

Umbrella has the record though as it was 10 straight weeks not 11 at hit and miss times.

But rein me in has just spent an 11th week, which is more than 10… so surely if has the record? Umbrella might have the record for consecutive weeks but overall rein me in has the record now no?

Biography

Los Angeles singer/songwriter Gracie Abrams has a talent for cutting to the quick. A song about a breakup’s messy aftermath, “21” opens bluntly with the line: “I missed your 21st birthday.” Another song about finding it hard to move on revolves around the simple admission, “I miss you, I’m sorry.” Abrams’ swift incisions are particularly notable given that her father is director J.J. Abrams, whose television series Lost boasted such ingeniously convoluted plotlines. Born in 1999, the Los Angeles native grew up listening to Joni Mitchell and Elliott Smith, but it wasn’t until she discovered Phoebe Bridgers, at age 13, that she began writing her own songs. She wrote “minor”—about a crush who lived too far away for her to visit before curfew—at age 17. “It was the first time that I’d written a song where I felt like I wasn’t trying to emulate someone else’s sound,” she tells Apple Music. Even Abrams’ early singles display a wisdom beyond her years. Released when she was 20, “21” revolves around the devastating line, “You’ll be the love of my life when I was young”—an elegant example of her knack for turning an idea as simple as “young love” into a complex meditation on life’s changes. “Looking back is unattractive to me,” she acknowledges, yet while preparing her first long-form statement—2020’s minor—she realised she needed to reflect to move forward. “Thinking about what that meant and how the songs needed to exist together,” she says, the experience of writing “minor” as a teen never went away. “It was always in the back of my head. I didn’t want to run away from it.” - Apple Music

Biography

Few DJs have risen faster than Martin Garrix. In 2013, when he was just 16, the Dutch dance-music fan (born Martijn Garritsen in May 1996) paid for his ticket to Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, along with 330,000 other attendees; the following year, he performed there—and also at Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Tomorrowland. The catalyst was his breakout hit, “Animals,” an electro-house anthem that sent shockwaves through EDM, setting the tone for several years’ worth of big-room bangers. (It also got the attention of Justin Bieber manager Scooter Braun, who scooped up the teenaged producer for his roster.) By the time Garrix was 20, DJ Magazine named him the world’s No. 1 DJ. Since then, he has straddled dance cred and pop crossover, collaborating with fellow DJs Dillon Francis, Hardwell, and Tiësto (Garrix's mentor and early champion) as well as Usher, Ed Sheeran, and Dua Lipa. He’s come a long way from the savagery of “Animals”: One of his signature moves, in songs like “In the Name of Love,” with Bebe Rexha, or “Ocean,” with Khalid, is something like the EDM equivalent of the power ballad: taking a silky, sensitive mood and building up the synths and drums until they sound all but indestructible. - Apple Music

He gives me a permanent headache

surely this is the end of Rein me in's reign reminds me of ordinary last year but it has become a bit of a routine this being number 1 every week I fully expect it now was annoying at first though

also gonna feel weird when we got a new number 1 where rein me in does not go back after dropping for 2 for a week

Jack said we might find out next week's number 1 at 4pm.

Highly unlikely - we might get a top 20 recap before Newsbeat.

Sad news for @777666jason - "Golden" by HUNTR/X has exited the top 40 for the very first time. It marks its first week outside the top 40 since it debuted at #93. Second week, it climbed to #31.

I really don't mind Rein Me In, it has actually grown on me over time and clearly will be a well remembered track in decades to come, the intro already sounds instantly nostalgic. Far prefer it to some other really long running No.1s, like Ordinary, or Billie Jean getting back there. If it was Human Nature or Go that was challenging then for me they are more than welcome to have a turn.

New entries and new peaks outside the top 40:

#55 Calvin Harris & Jazzy - Satisfy (NEW)

#57 F3miii - NOBLE (+6)

#58 Harry Styles - Dance No More (NEW)

#65 Prospa & Murda Beatz - Baby (NEW)

#76 MDB - Angels Above Me (NEW)

#78 Dexter And The Moonrocks - Freakin' Out (+17)

#81 PinkPantheress - Girl Like Me (NEW)

#85 Josh Fawaz - Like A Prayer (NEW)

#87 STELLA LEFTY - I Know I Know (+6)
