Official Charts Report

Ariana Grande begins her campaign for an eighth Number 1 as hate that i made you love me takes the lead in this latest Official Charts First Look.

The maiden single from her upcoming album petal, which releases this July, Ariana could join the likes of Oasis, Kylie Minogue and Justin Bieber with the same number of chart-topping tracks.

But as we know, we can never rule at Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s Rein Me In. Beginning the week in second, the track will be hungry to earn a 14th non-consecutive week at the top.

Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun could secure a new peak, currently sat at Number 6 while Milky’s Just The Way You Are looks to re-enter the Top 10 for the first time since 2002 (10).

There could also be a third Top 20 accolade for SIENNA SPIRO, as Material Lover looks to join Die On This Hill and The Visitor in achieving this feat (20).

Elsewhere, ANOTR’s Talk To You featuring 54 Ultra may break fresh ground and the Top 20 all in one sitting (19), as Stella Lefty’s Boston aims to climb further (24).

Fun fact: Jane McDonald's cover of "APT." had so many streams in its first day, that they had to hide it on the Sunday first look. It's at: 0 Jane McDonald - APT.

  • The Killers have just performed Mr Brightside before the Champions League final. How great would it be if that sent it back into the top 40 !!

It only sold 1,064 downloads and would still have been #5 that week on its streaming tally alone, which was very much fuelled by the music video release...

Not really , it was its single release week, most people would of watched the 6/7 minute video a couple of times and then just listened to the single version audio because thats certainly what I was doing

Which is still a boost fuelled by the music video! kink The numbers speak for themselves (and it was #3 on video streaming that week too).

If that was the case cocomelon would be on 100 weeks at number 1 🤭

The week Opalite's video came out:

23-11 Audio Streaming

xx-3 Video Streaming

23-7 Combined Audio + Video Streaming

Can't say the video streaming had no impact at all (and it clearly translated into an audio streaming boost too). Overall a pretty substantial boost from the music video there.

(and obviously CoComelon doesn't have the sales + audio streams to help it chart either)

Its a shame the OCC report doesn't post the sales gap like they used to in the past, at least we get a general picture, which way it will go. I sense it will swing towards Sam & Olivia at some point in the week, maybe even tomorrow. I'm pretty much fed up with the track now, its passed its sell by date, but there is nothing that could take it. Hoping Ariana gets it, to be honest that's the first time I heard it, and I'm not a Ariana fan, but she kills that track, its so different from her previous material.

Not once Did i say it didnt help, I literally said its not as big as people think

Well aware of that and I don't even disagree on the whole, videos are less impactful than they used to be sadly, but I think Opalite was a bad example when it did have a big boost from the video, which is the whole point I was making.

I would swap all that for one week in the top 10 !

Normally Ireland doesn't deviate too much from UK charts in the globalised streaming era but Choosin Texas already has reached #1 in Ireland (like USA) so its rather surprising that it hasn't dented the top 10 in UK at all...

Ireland has always taken more to country/folk than the UK so I'm not surprised at all.

Yeah the likes of zach Bryan and Luke combs are much bigger there than here, most of their releases are easy top 10 debuts vs low top 40 here

Ireland’s the only country is made the Top 10 in so far - due to its US success I thought it had been much bigger globally.

Really hope at the minimum it manages to snatch Top 10 here.
