Congrats Harve 😍 what a winner, the second I've given a medal to this year after 'Mum Does the Washing'. This song similarly commands a room (albeit in a far more ethereal way), so I could picture the winning vision and quietly gave Jonjo's "why is everyone sleeping on Skall?" post a thumbs up reaction a couple of days ago. Although, as ever, who truly knows - the odds thread was making my head spin this month lol happy the winner calls were on the money in the end, what a haul of 18s.

SO pleased with my own result! The hype throughout the contest was exciting but I lowered my expectations after that 31st prediction came in. I started to touch the top 10 after a slow start but truly did not expect to stay there at the end, so the reveal of 2x 18s from AllStarBySmashMouth and Sabrewulf was a pleasant surprise - thank you both, I'm glad you enjoyed the song so much! Back-to-back top 10s is quite the turnaround after DNQing a couple of times in quick succession not too long ago. Happy to have found a bit of a groove again.

Looks like I voted for 7 of the top 10 and obviously also made it in there myself, the absolute taste! Gave 13 to Skall, 4 to Aeroche, 8 to Hendinia, 10 to Sovarasma, 12 to Lentyll, 3 to Neliönoir and 6 to Elëdan 👏 my 18 of course went to Kathaldazia (I held out on posting my personal chart for as long as possible but finally submitted it at about 10:30pm, so that being in my top 10 may have been a slight spoiler kink ) and I would've liked to have seen that a bit higher, but top 20 still a fine result. Fljótavík top 20 would've been cool but Dandy got his much-wanted 23rd place, so that works too. Pestolia bottom 10 was the biggest robbery!

Elsewhere, 13th is a great debut position for New Helvetica! Jadakissnia had the exact same start so you're in good company 😎

Y’all predictors were right that I was lucky to get out of my semi but I’m glad the SF2 liked me more. 20th in semi to 22nd in final … gag. That comes after going 15th in the semi to 13th in the final last round. Can y'all start putting me in the right semi pls??? 🤣

Pretty winning song but not something I found myself returning to. I was into more of a ‘red card’ / ‘explozja’ kind of sound in the good weather.

Haha I'm usually on board with Skall entries but this one was [insert name of act who undeservedly finished last]. Congrats though, new record gap between successive victories? Amusingly it most likely would have come last year had I participated in 171 with Blanck Mass.

Knew Eledan would finish top 10 cheer but surprised at only two 18s tbf!

Another absolute scrape in the semis is hilarious too! That's why this entry could only have worked when Addy was hosting. I've got a few ideas in mind for some alt-heavy pandering for next contest

A small request for the future: would it be possible to keep the results sheet attached to the first post on the main page of the thread? It would make everything much easier to navigate, especially if I want to go back and check the results from previous competitions. I just spent quite a while trying to find the post with the table.

Wawa By The Ocean was one of my more interesting/inspired entries at the time and I felt like it flopped harder than I expected it to so this is huge justice for Mary + Julianna!

Absolutely delighted to have won! I was a teenager the last time I won and now I'm in my 30s lmao. Thanks for all the lovely comments and the hype that came out of nowhere (I was quietly confident of finishing well from the outset but certainly not this well!). I know it's a bit of an alt bloc song but the points actually came from quite diverse tastes, as they normally need to in order to get enough points to secure the win.

Do check out the full album which is a wonderful listen, as well as Tourist x Julianna if like me you loved both Hendinia's and my entry, as wildly different as they are. Also really happy that Eledan and Lentyll join a solid top 10.

I will get rather busy with work/volunteering from 22nd August onwards but if it's possible to do so on a tight-ish timeline then I'd be happy to host!

I've actually only crossed paths with Florrie once in the contest (BJSC 35, where she came 19th with 'I Took a Little Something'). Aside from that, there were some near misses and she was entered a couple of times during my hiatus, so I wasn't overly familiar with her, I just wanted to take a chance on a song I can't get enough of right now and had backups prepared just in case haha!

I didn't vote for that song back then oops, and have no recollection of anything from that contest - I was a very patchy participant and had DNQed, so I wouldn't be surprised if I checked out entirely haha.

Listening back to it now, that sounds a bit too dance leaning for my tastes! She's definitely more pop in her sound now!

From now on I'm (finally) gonna try to make sure to always listen to the opposite semi's DNQs as well like I used to do a long time ago. I gave semi 1's DNQs a listen now and Ennea's was my favourite of that lot. I'm not sure if I would've voted for any of them but I'm sure at some point I'll make a great discovery this way too.

I have a beautiful (and slightly subtle kink ) entry planned for next time, it's hard to tell if I can get back into qualifying with it but I hope some people hear the beauty in the song that I do.
