Media coverage of its record-breaking run at No.1 helped Rein Me In to increase consumption week-on-week by 4.52%, to 46,486 units (one 7-inch single, 2,582 digital downloads and 43,903 sales-equivalent streams), for Sam Fender & Olivia Dean, as it becomes the first record in chart history to spend 20 weeks at the summit.

On the seventh week of its fourth run at No.1, its 32nd consecutive week in the Top 10, and 59th straight week in the Top 40, Rein Me In was only a week away from falling into ACR but its latest fillip is enough to postpone that possibility until at least four weeks from now. Although, famously, it has now surpassed the 18 weeks at No.1 by Frankie Laine’s 1953 hit I Believe, it has still to overhaul the grand total of 22 weeks at No.1 for the Ervin Drake, Al Stillman, Jimmy Shirl & Irvin Graham song, which spent a further four weeks at No.1 in 1995 for Robson & Jerome.

Its challenge faltering, as memories of the World Cup fade, the football tournament’s official theme, Dai Dai, spends a third consecutive week at its peak position of No.2 for Shakira & Burna Boy, with consumption easing 11.91% week-on-week to 37,068 units.

The two highest of six new entries to the Top 75 this week are tracks from Ariana Grande’s new No.1 album, Petal – the title track debuting at No.4 (29,631 sales) and Kiss Me at No.15 (17,850 sales), raising her career tally of Top 75 hits to 57, and Top 10 to 27. They join the album’s introductory single, Hate That I Made You Love Me, which debuted at No.1 nine weeks ago, and now rebounds 9-3 (32,850 sales). The other nine tracks on Petal are ‘starred-out’ between No.19 and No.27 under primary artist rules. Overall consumption of Grande tracks in the week of 321,149 units raises her lifetime singles consumption to a staggering 58,376,219 units.

Sienna Spiro’s sixth hit, Great Expectation, becomes her second Top 10 entry, rising 15-10 (19,393 sales).

The rest of the Top 10: Choosin’ Texas (3-5, 26,788 sales) by Ella Langley, Stupid Song (4-6, 25,437 sales) by Olivia Rodrigo, Movin’ To The Sun (7-7, 23,890 sales) by Hugel, Imael Angel & Ultra Naté, Talk To You (5-8, 23,594 sales) by ANOTR & 54 Ultra and Free Your Mind (6-9, 22,390 sales) by Prospa & Cloonee.

The Cure (9-11, 19,240 sales) by Olivia Rodrigo and Man I Need (10-12, 19,172 sales) by Olivia Dean exit the Top 10.

While the undead Dracula (50-59, 7,802 sales) bestrides the Top 75 for the 42nd consecutive week, it is joined by another track from Tame Impala’s Deadbeat album. Released as a single last September, Loser promptly debuted and peaked at No.79. Forty-eight weeks later, it finally makes the Top 75, debuting at No.27 (10,399 sales) after featuring in the new UK box office No.1 film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

German DJ Kolter – Johannes Kolter from Cologne – made his Top 75 debut last week with Trapped, which registers its 17th consecutive week of growth, as it moves 69-60 (7,718 sales). It is joined in the Top 75 by a second Kolter track, Hey Everybody (Back In The Dance) (77-75, 7,003 sales), a re-titled cover of Jazzy Dee’s 1983 No.53 hit, Get On Up.

Where The Wild Things Are (No.37, 9,318 sales), is a 2023 single by country singer Luke Combs, that becomes his third Top 40 and ninth Top 75 entry, following his triumphant Wembley Stadium gigs last week. Although it previously peaked at No.81 in 2025, the track is one of the most popular songs in Combs’ canon, ranking fifth in his most-consumed list, with a platinum-earning to-date tally of 657,760 units.

Brand New Chanels (No.72, 7,092 sales), is the last new entry to the Top 75 but the first hit for 30-year-old American singer/songwriter Catherine Garner from Missouri as Slayyyter. It is a new song, not to be confused with her earlier cut, Beat Up Chanels, which was released exactly a year ago, and has to-date consumption of 32,757 units.

The most-played record on Radio 1, with 23 spins this week, On 2Nite by Silva Bumpa, surpasses the No.14 peak it scaled six weeks ago, moving 17-13 (19,068 sales). It is the debut hit for Silva Bumpa, 24-year-old Harry Eagle from Sheffield.

There’s a steep rise for Ain’t In LA, the first hit for 22-year-old Slovakian singer Adéla. The song debuted at No.59 last week and now jumps to No.32 (9,939 sales).

Twenty-four weeks after it first dropped, and six weeks after it reached its previous peak of No.43, Be Her is officially a single for Ella Langley, and jumps 63-42 (9,190 sales).

There are also new peaks for: Self Aware (27-26, 11,283 sales) by Temper City, Sue Me (40-33, 9,712 sales) by Audrey Hobert and Good Girl (61-54, 8,002 sales) by Cloonee & Prospa feat. Tristan.

Overall singles consumption is down 1.34% week-on-week to 30,446,572 units, 2.38% above same week 2025 sales of 29,738,800 units. Paid-for sales are also down 1.34% week-on-week at 266,076, 4.63% below same week 2025 sales of 278,989.

Ariana Grande’s eighth studio album, Petal, makes a convincing debut atop the chart on consumption of 47,889 units (9,954 CDs, 16,916 vinyl albums, 1,327 cassettes, 1,553 digital downloads and 18,139 sales-equivalent streams) ahead of the UK leg of her Eternal Sunshine tour.

It is the sixth consecutive No.1 for the 33-year-old singer/songwriter from Florida, following Dangerous Woman (2016), Sweetener (2018), Thank U, Next (2019), Positions (2020) and Eternal Sunshine (2024). Additionally, her 2013 debut Yours Truly reached No.7 and follow-up My Everything reached No.3 in 2014.

Home to Hate That I Made You Love Me – a No.1 single in June – Petal includes a dozen new Grande tracks, all written with Ilya, who also co-produced the album with her. Swedish hit machine Max Martin co-wrote and co-produced three of the tracks, namely Hate That I Made You Love Me, and the two songs that join it in the singles chart this week – Kiss Me and the title track.

Petal’s first week consumption – 25.34% above its immediate predecessor, Eternal Sunshine’s 38,207 start – is the second best of Grande’s career, trailing only Thank U, Next’s 65,214 opening. The others, and their first week tallies in descending order of magnitude: Sweetener (44,755), Positions (27,472), My Everything (23,766), Dangerous Woman (19,582) and Yours Truly (7,164).

Despite its slower start and lower peak, My Everything is Grande’s most-consumed album with a to-date tally of 738,847, followed by Dangerous Woman (637,697 units), Thank U, Next (614,831 units), Sweetener (505,599 units), Eternal Sunshine (407,279 units), Positions (346,216 units) and Yours Truly (198,221 units). In the Top 200 continuously since release 126 weeks ago, without ever falling below No.144, Eternal Sunshine jumps 73-49 (2,690 sales) this week, and has spent 71 weeks in the Top 75. Only Dangerous Woman (73 weeks) has had a longer Top 75 career.

The only female solo artists in chart history with more No.1 albums than Grande are Taylor Swift (14), Madonna (13), Kylie Minogue (11) and Barbra Streisand (seven). Lana Del Rey and Lady Gaga have also had six.

Grande is the third female solo artist in as many weeks to have a No.1 debut on the album chart, following Gracie Abrams and Charli XCX. It is the first time in chart history that this has happened, although in 2024, four albums by female solo artists (Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish and Gracie Abrams) debuted at No.1 in a row, albeit over a seven-week period.

Twelve weeks after it debuted at No.13, Katy Perry’s career-encompassing first compilation, The Ones That Got The Plays, rebounds 11-8 (6,401 sales), to surpass its previous peak of No.9.

No.1 on debut last week, Music, Fashion, Film tumbles to No.23 (3,907 sales) for Charli XCX.

Also exiting the Top 10, Reality Awaits (8-144, 1,462 sales) by The Strokes, and Top 200 departees Eyes Open (1,166 sales) by Snow Patrol and Little Miss Twain (604 sales) by Shania Twain, number four and seven, respectively, a week ago.

Comprising five tracks with a playing time of just under 16 minutes, Olivia Dean’s pre-fame EP Growth is five years old, and to mark the occasion was released physically for the first time last week, on 10-inch vinyl. Said format accounts for 2,543 of the 2,987 units that earn the set a No.42 debut on the album chart, where it becomes Dean’s third entry.

More than 46 years after they released their debut album on the iconic Factory Records label, legendary Manchester post-punk band Durutti Column make their very first chart appearance, debuting at No.54 (2,644 sales) with Renascent. It is the first studio album in 15 years by the band, who comprise charismatic leader, guitarist and vocalist Vini Reilly, who just turned 73; 86-year-old drummer Bruce Mitchell; and bass guitarist and producer Keir Stewart, of indeterminate age, who has worked with Reilly and Mitchell for nearly 30 years.

Country star Luke Combs’ short UK tour – two dates at Murrayfield in Edinburgh and three at London’s Wembley Stadium – is over, but his albums continue to climb. His latest (sixth) album The Way I Am climbs for the sixth week in a row, moving 31-15 (4,305 sales) to achieve its highest placing since it debuted at No.4 in March; 2017 debut This One’s For You, which made its very first Top 75 appearance last week, climbs 47-32 (3,298 sales); and second album, What You See Is What You Get – No.27 on debut in 2019 – secures only its second week in the Top 75, climbing 81-62 (2,433 sales).

No.11 when first released in 2024, Calvin Harris’ studio/compilation hybrid 96 Months bounds 41-24 (3,860 sales), to achieve its highest position for 64 weeks, following the screening of his two-hour set for Radio 1’s Dance Weekend at Glasgow’s Hampden Park, aired on BBC1 last Saturday (August 1). His 2012 studio album, 18 Months, charges 91-52 (2,648 sales), coming to rest at its highest position for 601 weeks – more than 11 years.

Despite recording the lowest ever first full week sale for a regular Now! That’s What I Call Music album, with an opening tally of 5,954 units (5,516 CDs, 438 digital downloads), Now! 124 debuts atop the compilation chart. It replaces the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack (1-2, 3,645 sales), which was No.1 for 52 of its previous 58 weeks on the chart, including the last nine consecutively.

Overall album sales are down 0.04% week-on-week to 2,426,938 units, 1.48% above same week 2025 sales of 2,391,581. Physical product accounts for 286,551 sales, 11.81% of the total.

Something ive seen nobody bring up, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean now have the most weeks at #1 for any british artist in any year, surpassing Ed Sheeran's 19 week 2017. Next week they tie Sabrina Carpenter 21 week 2024 for most of the last 70 years.

How in the hell it did drop 96 places from Monday? Seems odd.

Maybe the Now! numbered series would sell better if they introduced a vinyl format, like they have done for the Yearbooks. I actually think the tracklisting for Now 124 is quite good, so CD sales of under 6,000 are disappointing.

So 16 weeks at No.1 for Rein Me In without ACR and Man I Need climbs back up to 2 after giving way to Dai Dai last week....

That's a possibility. Sales could've been massively overreported in the midweeks.

Davido's songs have been botted in the past so I'd imagine the sales came from huge amounts of fake streams which the OCC cottoned onto.

I'm seeing claims of "fraud" on Twitter, but I'm not quite sure on the details.
