Have got in a second listen of the opposite semi now as well hooray (been a few months since I last found time to do that before semi results). Which means I have now spent 74 minutes of my life listening to 'Fizheuer Zieheuer'

Semi 2 is definitely weaker than semi 1 for me, I think only my top 4 or 5 would have got points from me if they had been in my semi instead (and it has more songs that were a bit samey / forgettable / didn't leave much of an impression on me). Still a couple of very strong standouts among those though.

(I'm down with the idea of Séyetana winning, great entry, obviously long overdue and would be iconic for them to go from last place in the semi to winning the following contest x)

I’m fearing that this will end up being like BJSC 84 where I thought a lot of the songs were very samey but instead of tropical house they’re all artsy indie alternative and not only did I not like that contest I also DNQd then so it’s not a good sign

there’s literally more variety within all the ‘artsy indie alternative’ in this semi than all the pop in both semis combined (probably I haven’t heard semi 2)

Still missing votes from Baleghde, Wholune and Numayania. Realistically I'm not going to be able to add up the last votes until the afternoon so if you are able to send me them before 14:00 UK time then I'll still accept.

I find it sad in general that art and artsy things etc are seen as something that 'most people won't get or appreciate' and so on (as dandy* also said earlier in the thread). I remember in the town where I lived before, the local arts centre was struggling financially and some of the local councillors didn't want to help or support, saying 'those kinds of artsy-fartsy things are not understood or appreciated by anyone in this town' lmao. I was like, wow I really must be on a different wavelength 🙃

Maybe some things are supposed to remain niche though 🤔 It's interesting to think about.

There was not a lot of pop hoes in semi 2 to begin with, so this could have impact oh how the results will go!!!

I've just got through Semi 2 and the AQ's... (Well I've started 'Pendulum', and the first minute doesn't fill me with hope... But who knows, there's still nearly 14 mins to get through [which will need to be done separately, as I need to get moving now lol])

I'm expecting a number that I like to DNQ... That won't leave me with an awful lot to choose from in the final oops.

I guess some contests are very much to your tastes (last one) and some just aren't for you (which feels like this one)!

Therein lies the problem I think with these odds and predictions threads, not in all cases but at least some I feel when there is an overwhelming negative response or reaction to an entry and many people predict it to DNQ it gives little incentive to the sender to vote for anyone else's entries and it's understandable that they may quietly choose to withdraw from the contest based on negative feedback.

I don’t think Jafet is going to be overwhelmed by my negative response. Nor is it a pattern of mine toward him as I’ve given big points to him on multiple occasions in the last year for entries that deserved it in my opinion.

Odds and predictions are part of the discussion element of this contest and part of why we stick around for so many years to take part, it also is fun! You can’t have only positive responses in a thread when you are predicting what will do well and what won’t and a tongue in cheek comment about your chances shouldn’t derail your enjoyment in participating. I certainly wouldn’t take it that way about an entry of my own and welcome people to share their thoughts whatever they may be about my own entries!

Jafet can speak for himself but I don’t believe the ‘overwhelming negative response’ to his entry is what has caused him to not vote on this occasion.

I feel like you’re maybe pushing your own agenda onto my comment on a point that keeps getting brought up in roundabout conversation over several contests. I think the mods have made it clear that the odds and predictions threads are here to stay as they are an overall positive contribution to the contest.

I think it should be reminded bad odds don’t necessarily translate to few votes and vice versa. For example, I’ve had blanket Q predictions a few times only to not qualify. 🥲

With the risk of morphing into Cody too much. I am fully expecting a collosal flop. This semi wasn't really the best, but I don't see many votes coming towards myself

I'm glad you guys are saying that because I love posting predictions/odds and I think it always brings about the most fun discussion but I literally always feel bad when someone responds with a sad face 😅

I bet top 10 wouldn't have tasted so sweet last month without the 500/1 odds beforehand

oops, sorry I honestly just forgot the deadline was yesterday. didn't even realise there was any negative response to my entry in all honesty lmao. in my very own personal delulu land I'm always a safe qualifier until proven otherwise and even then if I don't qualify I'll just scream riggor mortis and claim robbage to satisfy my heart <3
