As far as certifications go the Thursday estimate being a bit out for one week is really a drop in the bucket. The only songs doing particularly huge numbers are already certified multiple times over. I can't see that it really matters that maybe some time months/years down the line one of her slightly less popular songs maybe takes an extra couple of weeks to hit a certification mark.

Regarding ‘Islands in the Stream’, I’m hoping the fact it’s credited with Kenny Rogers as the lead artist by the OCC means it doesn’t count towards Dolly’s top 3 (so ‘I Will Always Love You’ can chart). Wouldn’t be the first time the crediting on other platforms doesn’t line up with the OCC’s.

But I disagree. It might be a small difference but it’s the principle that bothers me, they have the accurate Thursday data but they still choose to ignore it when it comes to sales totals. I know there’s probably always a margin of error (more so in the physical days) with these things but this is such an easily solvable problem. Accuracy should matter.

'Free Your Mind' (she was added to the credits on the single on Spotify so kind of counts, although oddly she remains uncredited on the album tracklist so her name doesn't show up in the Spotify chart still and ofc her name wasn't added onto the OCC listings either).

Sybil was really not happy about the 'Free Your Mind' debacle!

Sam Smith must have some missing sales there!! But then again I do feel like this albums almost went unnoticed. Usually they have pretty good promo (unless I’m missing something) I’m still to hear the album though!

I think Tangled Up is higher than what Chemistry was on the Wednesday update. I’m not convinced it’ll be top 40 though now but should at least get another week top 75. I do like that Girls Aloud have given fans so much extras with their studio albums though. I wonder if they’ll re-release Ten for the 25th anniversary of the band but with more hidden gems and with the singles added to that what weren’t on it first time around?

Our hopes remain for a top 40 finish as long as more donwloads to be needed. They're out of ITunes top albums. Second, lack of social media presence from the memebrs and streaming numbers. The promotion heavily relies to tiktok. I am hoping more for top 10 in Scotland, Ireland and Vinyl as well as physical sales

It is bizarre that there’s hardly any promo on social media for the girls. You’d think part of the agreement to do these releases was that they’d have to push it.

I don't think Movin' to the Sun is any more or less AI than all the other dance hits today. Everyone uses AI tools to create.

Using AI tools to assist is a little different to having AI write the entire melody and structure of the song...

I agree that based on past obsetvations, it's certainly a lot closer to being a Friday-Wednesday average than any kind of projection of trends during the week, and certainly doesn't take external or seasonal factors (e.g. if the Thursday is Halloween) into account.

It will be interesting to see today’s Spotify figures, but if Dolly is doing anywhere near as well there as she is on Apple, I feel she is almost guaranteed 3 top 40 hits tomorrow.

She has the top 6 on iTunes and Apple - and the top 3 must be well clear of ‘Man I Need’ on Apple. If that is replicated on Spotify, then I’m sure that will be at least 6000 sales in one day. Add Wednesday’s streams, plus all the downloads, today’s Amazon streams - and the residual sales from earlier in the week, and I’m sure Dolly‘s top three songs will easily reach the threshold to make the top 40.

I think I would be surprised if ‘Jolene’ doesn’t make the top 20 or thereabouts. Once we have seen today’s Spotify, it could be even higher.

To add to that: possibly more appropriate for the streaming thread but I will post it here - because I think it is relevant to estimating Dolly’s sales this week.

It is interesting that Dolly appears to be doing better on Apple in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia than she is in the US and Canada.

I’d be intrigued to know why that is. Is it that our market is really weak at present, and her songs are only just ahead of the chasing pack? Is it that in the US and Canada has streams are spread across a wider back catalogue?

Id say its this you literally only needed 200k stream to go top 4 the other day , our streams might not be "weak overal" but the bar at the top is very low

to be fair, aside from Choosin' Texas the top end of US streaming at the minute is pretty weak too - there's been a couple of days where it was the only song on Spotify clearing a million daily streams there. it's reflective of a global trend that streams at the top of the charts are their lowest in years - last week's global Spotify #1 had the lowest number of streams since 2017.
