I wonder if Olivia Rodrigo's song tomorrow could change everything up. The Cure debuted with 43k but that was a full week.

I just looked this up and it looks like it's just a limited CD release (at least for now?) - in any case it's just a bonus song and not a proper single, I doubt it'd be challenging for #1.

'All 500 copies sold out on Friday (August 21), and it is expected that the track will receive a wider streaming and digital release on Monday (August 24), although Rodrigo has not confirmed this.'

If nothing wants to challenge it, it may as well keep extending the record to see how far it actually goes

Exactly, it’s like it’s RMI fault that the big stars are releasing poor returns that aren’t catching on!

Love that Kylie & Snow Patrol are #21.

Would love for it to chart but can see it missing the Top 100, it will be totally front-loaded with the vinyl, downloads are minimal and streaming will contribute about 10 sales.

When’s the album update chart appearing?

It is usually around 5pm if a mod is available, though you may need to wait until 5:45pm to see it on the OCC website

I wonder how much of an indication Amazon's CD & Vinyl chart is ahead of the mids today

#1 Brandon Flowers - THRASHER

#2 Paul Heaton - Jenius (and #11)

#8 Kiss - Destroys Anaheim '76

#12 Weezer - Weezer (Gold Album)

#14 Sam Smith - Hazel Eyes

#15 Lambchop - Punching The Clown

Is Sam Smith not considered an A list star any more? Why is their album entry position prediction so low? When I think of all the artists and groups I've never heard of and have such a tiny niche fanbases sailing into #1 with ease on a regular basis, it seems all the more remarkable that Sam hasn't higher numbers...

Sam was very popular with the general public, I'm not sure they ever really had that strong of a dedicated fanbase.

They were pretty lucky to have multiple big selling albums but at the end of the day the public move on and the album buyers change nearly everyone drops off after a few years

Sam I think appealed to a bit of an older audience initially but their last album didn’t appeal much to their previous audience (whilst it sort of gained a new one). I feel like they perhaps didn’t have stans but had genuinely popular songs earlier on in their career and a lot of hits in a short time frame.

I still think Sam has a dedicated fan base to an extent but there’s more niche type of acts who are more hardcore on week one.

DMAs and Westside Cowboys (who are very good) being ahead of Sam Smith is a bit surprising but not complaining at all! Hope they both can hold top 5.

Oft that’s a poor start for Sam Smith but not overly shocked.

Girls Aloud at #16 - I think that’s on par with their first mids of their other re-issues?

A huge disappointment for Jorja Smith! If she’s at #15 now, she’ll be around #25 by Wednesday and, by Friday, she’ll barely be inside the Top 40
