  • Those alternating up and down arrows are aesthetically pleasing *.*

  • perhaps not the official rock chart though, where 'Iris' is currently spending its 267th week at #1

  • What was number 1 on this date 10 years ago ? Was it Rein Me In ??!!!!

Has the 3 year rule for ACR completely gone out of the window now then?

I think it has for some time now!

I'd be very surprised if they reset any Oasis songs unless they increase by at least 25% in a week though.

A 25% uptick seems too loose a benchmark to be eligible for a reset anymore. Every time Liam Gallagher burps or Taylor Swift sneezes, their songs streams seem to increase by more than 25% and come back out of ACR yet again. I think 100% increase (doubling of streams) in a week should be the criteria. I'd imagine this would then only allow truly pop cultural or epic revival moments like the Kate Bush's RUTH for Stranger Things or Dolly Parton's passing to be reflected and mean a more exclusive and rarer set of oldies re-enter the charts in a way that seems appropriate in capturing the nation's mood on a given week. I get that is a subjective stance in itself but what is the alternative....?

I get that some chart purists here dont want ACR at all and would be happy for Rein Me In to be Number One for the rest of eternity if thats what the bot driven playlists spit out for ever more as the most passively streamed track week in, week out but that would be the worst of all outcomes in my opinion...

Thats a very weird analogy when only 1 Taylor song has ever been reset and it had only charted 1 week beforehand🤣🤣

I suppose I was being a bit tongue in cheek to make a point...but I still think the reset % increase should be way higher...

Oh they never should have dropped it from 50 to 25 ive been saying myself for ages 🤣

The problem is we seem to more be in an era of nostalgia atm than new music actually taking off

Why was Joy by Raye released on a Wednesday? It could’ve got such a good boost. If it had been released on a Friday it would have been added to Spotify new music lists.
