That’s tough for Gary, that was a really good song.

Shows the depth of competition at this point though. Tom has some songs I really like but not many of them were played, still their mentor did really well to make the live shows.

Oh no 🫣

going to have to root for New Order here as I ranked their song higher and them exiting before sending 'Blue Monday', 'True Faith' and 'Regret' would be a travesty!

They've used Regret already but World In Motion is the other one of their big songs still left. It's great to see them saved by the judges, Club Bangers will be right up their street.

Oops you're right drama memory failure, I think it was overshadowed by an even bigger retro favourite for me in 'Never Let Me Down Again' that round!

But yeah, glad 'Blue Monday' and 'True Faith' may still have a shot now. True about their #1 hit also!

Gary Numan and Tom Grennan, sadly it wasn't meant to be and you've been eliminated from the competition.

But, there's still a small matter of your IDENTITIES...

@ElectroBoy

After taking the reins for a short while in Season 2 before eventually joining forces with Jay to take Conan Gray all the way to fourth place, this time it was ElectroBoy's time to shine on his own with none other than Tom 'the pits' Grennan! Joining HRVY in garnering perhaps more support for said pits than the music at times, it's wonderful that ElectroBoy managed to make it all the way to Live Shows with an artist that, at the beginning, perhaps could have been written off as an early boot given the other solo male artists in the competition. But, ElectroBoy made some smart choices and played some of Tom's biggest hits as well as taking some risks, without having sent poor, brave Gilette either! I'm sure Bra will sleep easy knowing the gaslighting can officially end here, but well done ElectroBoy, you've done brilliantly!

@Julian_

Well at least I can use one of my pre-written commentaries from The Gamu Nhengu Gold Card here if anything, but commiserations regardless Julian! First we had Bob Dylan (before being the old man of the competition became a thing), then we had David Bowie, and now we've had Gary Numan. Reigning champion Julian took on the iconic role this season and certainly did an excellent job getting him as far as he did, with lots of choices that appealed greatly to the alt-leaning crowd but maybe less so to the hardcore pop fans. So bravo! I hope he doesn't mind me saying this publicly, but Julian did say at the beginning that he'd gone for some artists that were less competitive this time to give somebody else a chance, but it's great that even with that considered people have really gotten behind Gary and Julian's had the chance to showcase a fair amount of songs both old and new. Despite being eliminated in the very next round, Gary coming back with The Gamu Nhengu Gold Card with a classic like Cars was indisputable!

And... with Gary no longer in the competition and Agnes already eliminated... we are now guaranteed a brand new winner of The Pop Factor! May the odds be in everybody's favour!

Gary Numan in The Pop Factor: Season 3

Round 1: The Room Auditions in Rotterdam - We Are Glass (9th, 260 points)

Round 2: The Arena Auditions in Amsterdam - I Die: You Die (7th, 221 points)

Round 3: Boot Camp: Part One in Barcelona - M.E. (8th, 205 points)

Round 4: Boot Camp: Part Two in Bratislava - My Name Is Ruin (6th, 181 points)

Round 5: The Six Chair Challenge in Szczecin - Are 'Friends' Electric? (CHAIR)

Round 6: Judges' Houses: Part One in Joensuu - Down in the Park (with Tubeway Army) [6th, 95 points]

Round 8: The Gamu Nhengu Gold Card in Geneva - Cars (1st, 258 points)

Round 9: Live Show One in Budapest - Intruder (OUT)

We came to a decision cheeseblockWill soon find out whether deadlock would have made a difference

Down to 3 male solo artists already, but well played to the two who fell. Tom did well to avoid the Gamu round. Gary went about as far as he could - I've discovered a lot of his lesser known hits from the 1980s sessions and mostly the best ones have been used, although there's one we've yet to get to in 1987 that may have gone down well - 'Radio Heart' is an absolute earworm!

My votes in this round:

1 New Order - Ceremony

2 Depeche Mode - People Are People

3 Fontaines D.C. - Starburster

4 Kate Bush - Babooshka

5 Bananarama - Cruel Summer

6 Sam Fender - Getting Started

7 Sam Smith - Like I Can

8 Gary Numan - Intruder

9 MARINA - How to Be a Heartbreaker

10 Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Get Over You

11 Texas - Halo

12 Adele - Oh My God

13 Zara Larsson - All the Time

14 Darin - Electric

15 Tom Grennan - Royal Highness

Very pleased that New Order weren't brought down by 'Ceremony', that's one of my top 10 songs of 1981! There's plenty of later dance friendly stuff plus those huge classics mentioned to keep them going. 'Cruel Summer' is possibly Bananarama's best song and 'Like I Can' is a good one from Sam Smith's debut, so a foray into the top half for both.

Well done ElectroBoy and Julian for getting your acts to the live shows, you both did great 👏

A couple of people guessed me for Gary and I can see why. I thought Rollo was possibly behind him if he wasn't Ultravox. But then my suspicions shifted to Julian after Rollo was unmasked, if he wasn't feeling as competitive as ABBA last year. Fantastic job Julian, I particularly loved the 'M.E.' pick away from the big two, I remember saying it was a smart move as soon as the thread went up ❤️ I'm glad 'Intruder' got a moment even if it couldn't quite do enough for him.

Seeing Gary's songs laid out like that only just made me realise he got an 'electric chair', lol!

If you'd have used I'm Not Alone, I would've topped him x

My strategy was always to keep I’m Not Alone all the way till the end!!! (It’s his best with his vocals on it)

A strategy that failed though lol.
