Tori Amos' career goes way back to 1980 with her debut single 'Baltimore', released under her real name Ellen Amos. The Power Of Orange Knickers is from her 2005 album 'The Beekeeper' and features additional vocals from the Irish singer/songwriter Damien Rice.

Hola,

Really enjoyed this contest and hope people enjoyed my choice (a song I have enjoyed for years)

My 2nd to 10th & commiserations first:

10pts Cher - Woman's World

8pts Aqua - Playmate To Jesus

7pts Robyn - Ever Again

6pts RuPaul - Glamazon

5pts Ace Of Base - Unspeakable

4pts Bruce Springsteen - Land Of Hope And Dreams

3pts Seal - Love's Divine

2pts Christina Aguilera - You Lost Me

1pt Fangoria - Mas es mas

Commiserations

xx Modest Mouse - Little Motel

xx Axwell - Center Of The Universe

xx Sophie B Hawkins - Soul Lover

xx Blink-182 - Ghost On The Dance Floor

xx Matchbox Twenty - Put Your Hands Up

And for my 12 points - I had forgotten how much I adore this song.

And mini rant time - with the way the charts changed, I still find myself constantly frustrated that artists like my 12 pointer could release songs that were just as good as stuff they released in their heyday with little to no results. This sound SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HIT! It has amazing harmonies, superb and powerful lyrics and a great video. At least the album it came from had a little bit of success.....watch it now finish in last....

And so my 12 points goes to:

12pts All Saints - This Is A War

Going for the Damien Rice triple - retro contest, Bop Idol and Pop Factor!

Wow thanks for the points all!

The points that should have been mine!!!

Has @Scene ever hosted a Bop Idol before? I wonder what theme he might choose if he wins!!!

Which song were you going to send out of curiosity?

Ok well that convinces me now that Julian is not Kate Bush in the Pop Factor! He wouldn't be so blatant as sending here to two events at the same time... would he? 😮

Trance To The Sun are a Californian band who released their debut album 'Volcano' in 1990. Sleeping With The Natives is taken from their eleventh album 'Atrocious Virgin' which came out in 2001.

For the first time in any song contest in a while from me these votes are just based on one listen unfortunately so apologies if there are any songs that may have benefited from a second listen from me - I'll try and get around to doing a second listenthrough at some point anyway but obviously too late for that to count to my votes x

This contest got off to a slowish start for me but ended up with more than enough songs I'd have been happy to vote for. Commiserations to Kate Bush, Modest Mouse, blink-182 and Bruce Springsteen.

My own entry came from a trusty RateYourMusic search for the top post-punk albums of the 00s (this song/album isn't really post-punk but it came up when I searched for that anyway and it looked intriguing and I found that it just barely qualified for the theme as the band released an independent album in 1990 and the parent album of 'Sleeping With The Natives' came out in 2001). I'd never heard of the artist before which I'm guessing is not really the case for most of the other entrants but although it was a familiar set of artists there were only a couple of songs I'd heard before so still lots of good discoveries here.

A pretty good song from Kate 'Calgon' Bush - much better than the one from the last retro contest.

I was toying with the idea of sending Just A Fool. Not sure how it would have done in comparison tbh!

I adore that, but probably not as well due as a classic sounding ballad.

Hooray for my own song getting 22 points to move it up from 27th to 13th place. Kaku P-Model continue their late run, they're now in the top 4.

@Scene You've won enough

Well I made a mis-step then! Thanks to anyone who showed my entry some love (I enjoy it anyways!)

Glad to see my 12 and 10 pointers near the top

Ooh there I am x

I perhaps peaked a bit early with my first 3 sets of points all being 12s thanks to @Chez Wombat, @Jade and @jimwatts for those as well as @Julian_ for giving me my first medal since then just now and @CowTzy, @Dobbo, @King Rollo, @nine¾, @matto and @Addy! for the other points so far! Hoping I can squeeze out another top 10 here which would make it 4 out of the last 5 assorted song contests for me! (this reminds me I never commented on the Nuggets results, I should go belatedly do that soon x).

That top end of the scoreboard is not greatly to my taste unless the last few voters swing things majorly but yay for my votes pushing Kaku P-MODEL right up there - annoying that my favourite song of the contest (from first impressions anyway) is the only one that's not on Spotify, I tracked it down and downloaded it from Bandcamp to add as a local file for my shuffle playlist x

London alternative rock band Placebo made their debut in 1995 with the single 'Bruise Pristine'. A later version of that song was entered to the 1997 edition of The Best Song Contest In The World.....Ever! For What It's Worth is a single from 2009.

4pts Seal - Love's Divine

3pts Robyn - Ever Again

2pts Legowelt - Elements Of Houz Music

1pt Tori Amos featuring Damien Rice - The Power of Orange Knickers

Commiserations to but also good - in order of the list.

Fangoria, Beth Orton, Ace Of Base, Trance To The Sun, Aqua, Modest Mouse and Bruce Springsteen.

'For What It's Worth' charted (just barely) around the time I joined BuzzJack so I remember it quite well from those early chart stanning days - good to hear it again here.

Thanks Herbs for my last points, unless one of the last few (or a surprise guest) produces something
