July 9, 200916 yr Yes I would. I haven't quoted the rest of your post because it's irrelevant. I don't believe for one minute there are people out there going "Ooh, i'd never heard of Michael Jackson before, let's see what his music is like!" I have no idea why people get the compulsion, when a popstar dies, to suddenly go out and buy their music. It doesn't make any sense to me, if you hadn't got the songs before why buy them now the person is dead? They're no better or worse than before they died and iTunes isn't going to take the music off because they've died. The results of it is that new and upcoming artists are denied chart placings that they deserve due to some unconcievable mindset. Well obviously the posthumous sales are due at least partly to people who didn't own the tracks before, then finally decide to buy them.

For the same reason you may find yourself in the disposition to purchase that old hit from an act you would normally diss just because it sounded and felt SO GOOD that night when she/he caught your eye at that party. It may not be cool but hey it's a genuine feeling. Edited July 9, 200916 yr by Twisted Tender
July 9, 200916 yr Thursday Top 40 Update Singles 1 Cascada 37.3k 2 La Roux 28.5k 3 Michael Jackson 26.4k 4 David Guetta feat. Kelly 20.8k 5 Lady GaGa 19.9k Top 15 12 Arctic Monkeys Have you noticed that, since singles sales now decline relatively slowly with descending position(*), it is ever harder for a song that gives others a headstart to make a rapid impression? (*) 4 years ago, a #10 would typically sell 1/8th of the #1, nowadays it is more like 1/3rd (you have to drop to around #30 for it to be selling only 1/8th of the #1)!
July 9, 200916 yr I just noticed something A few will defo fall out by Sunday, but MJ has only gone down from thirteen tracks top 40 to eleven :o I predict he'll have about 7-9 top 40 by Sunday maybe?
July 9, 200916 yr How the hell is VV Brown falling? Seriously, how annoying. I just don't get it, even if there is a physical stocking problem, physicals are SUCH a small part nowadays. You don't spend two full days in the iTunes top 20 for a No.39 surely? Especially when a day in the 40-32 range got you a No.37..? It just makes no sense. I mean I'm sure she's above Work on iTunes, 7Digital and Amazon and the Sats are beating her. It all makes no sense :(
July 9, 200916 yr ive a feelin that 'Battlefield' will do a jason mraz 'im yours' peak outside the top 10 (or low top 10) but will stick around in the top 40 a while
July 9, 200916 yr RyRy, if you're around can you tell me if Sash! - Best Of is anywhere in the chart? It sells for 2.99 at HMV and is number 2 behind Cascada in the dance/electronica chart
July 9, 200916 yr ive a feelin that 'Battlefield' will do a jason mraz 'im yours' peak outside the top 10 (or low top 10) but will stick around in the top 40 a while And then quickly turn from a generally positively received track to the most hated track in the top 75 on Buzzjack? :P
July 9, 200916 yr I don't think it sounds right that VV is still Top 40, unless if the Jacko tracks prevent it.
July 9, 200916 yr Hopefully VV can remain as high as she is on iTunes throughout next week, and climb to a more deserving peak position than is likely for this week.
July 9, 200916 yr RyRy do you have positions for the following:- Maccabees (CYGI) Ciara (Work) Kid British (OHID) Little Boots (Remedy) Noisettes (NFY) Thanks! :)
July 9, 200916 yr Well you didn't think the MJ tracks would vanish just like that would you. A huge superstar passed away and like i predicted MJ tracks will the hog the charts for a while whether it be top 40, top 100 or even top 200 :DOf course not just like THAT  It looked like they're dying down, but I find it strange how she's only 39, with her single just outside the Top 20 (It was IN Top 20 most of yesterday) on iTunes and she's ONLY 39?! It's weird, and now with the "weekend effect" about to happen, I will be fearing for her even more! RyRy, if you're around can you tell me if Sash! - Best Of is anywhere in the chart? It sells for 2.99 at HMV and is number 2 behind Cascada in the dance/electronica chartI think Sash would be in that budget chart thing (Less than £3? I think ) that Girls Aloud's Greatest Hits were in near christmas. Not TOO sure though...
July 9, 200916 yr I reckon Michael Jackson will end up at no2 by the weekend again, the gap between him and La Roux seems to be narrowing as the week goes on. I'm disappointed about Jordin Sparks, its a fantastic song and I would have expected it to have made the top10 easily.
