September 11, 200916 yr WOO! Livvi Top 40  Hopefully she can hold on. Doubt it though as X Factor MAY cost her :( Still Beatles really that low? I honestly thought they'd walk it (I thought they'd have bigger first day sales than Greenday at least) But maybe it's because people are only buying one or the other...

September 11, 200916 yr Author Still Beatles really that low? I honestly thought they'd walk it (I thought they'd have bigger first day sales than Greenday at least) But maybe it's because people are only buying one or the other... Their album sales for yesterday are not really mindblowing, looks like Jamie T is a dead cert for #1
September 11, 200916 yr Author are there any u2 album in top 40?thanks No, they would highly unlikely to appear anyhow with all the Beatles albums
September 11, 200916 yr Author 15 new albums in the top 40, 10 of those are Beatles, nice clearout. And before anyone asks The Mercury Prize winner Speech DeBelle is not top 40

September 11, 200916 yr Thats *TEN* in the T40! Even MJ 'only' managed nine (on 1/8/09), and no-one died this time - well, not *recently* anyway. :cheer:  Yeah but MJ albums were already available for years and years and had sold by dozens for millions... That's completely different here.
September 11, 200916 yr Thats *TEN* in the T40! Even MJ 'only' managed nine (on 1/8/09), and no-one died this time - well, not *recently* anyway. :cheer:  Don't forget The Beatles released many more albums than MJ, so they have more albums to chart which gives them an advantage. Also, in the first few weeks after his death several MJ albums (e.g Bad and Dangerous) were inelligible for the chart and so even though they sold enough copies to enter the Top 10 did not appear on the chart at all until weeks later. It's a nice little earner for Macca, Ringo and MJ's estate though. It still owns 50% of the Sony/ATV catalogue who control the publishing rights to almost all their songs. With MJ's own enormous sales since June (more than 15million albums sold), the merchandise deals, the 'This Is It' cinema release, DVD release and CD release etc, the estate will have easily made more than £100million by the end of the year. September 11, 200916 yr Ugh not another artist takeover. I'm pleased that Muse look likely to hold in the top 10 and YMAS should remain top 40 also.
