Hey guys, think this is the right place to put this - I know on all 51 weeks so far in the year, we have been up on last years sales, it would be a shame for this week to be any different, I've looked for details on this chart last year throughout and can't find it anywhere, wondering if it looks like the 1 week sales will be lower, could be the last chart of the year? Such a shame for such a fantastic year if this is so.

I am aware this won't affect sales in the long run and that 2009 beat 2008 sales back in August if I'm correct, just would be a nice touch.

Thanks guys.

Will #9 :o

YAY!!!

WILL GO GO GO!!!

hehehe

anyway...

very surprised that Buble sells that much...probably more than 1000K after this week...

Could i ask for Snow Patrols album position please? Im hoping with sales it gets this week it will pass the half million mark.
Yeah buying a song because it won a TV show is a TRUE REFLECTION, yeah that makes sense

Anyway Rage are still winning on downloads anyway.

OK..I will refer you to the 7 P's of marketing, people, price, place, promotion..etc, at no point where the public ever told/asked to buy Joe's single, his exposure on Xfactor was no diffrent to TOTP apperences or music videos which have acted as a platform for artists in the past. I'm sure the public can make up their own mind on whether to buy the single or not, and they most evidently did, or else the 20 million viewers of the final would have rushed to by their copies, no??

Plus your statement about RATM being ahead on downloads is quite irrelevent don't you think?? does that really prove anything

What a stupid question??! the point that Joe X-factor has sold 80,000 is because people are buying the song on their own terms, because they like the song and think "oh i'll buy it"

THIS IS THE TRUE REFLECTION OF THE CHARTS!

Now with RATM's drop in appeal this week this just shows who the 'controled, mindless' members of the public are! The people who started that whole campaign on facebook have even impressed Simon Cowell with their manipulation...so tbh I don't know whos worse!

X-Factor, RATM (and it's fans <_< ) aside, THEM facebook people have become the thing they hated the most and are too dumb to see THEY have ruined the Christmas No.1 with their 'comunist campaign'

You're kind of missing the point. The whole RATM campaign was designed simply to break up the monotony of having an X-Factor #1 every year and add some excotement to the xmas chart. It succeeded on both counts. Nobody was controlled or manipulated, it was completely voluntary and enough people wanted to make a point and did.

Every single record released has a campaign behind it - this just took a different format to the established route of record company promotion.

Of course if the organisers simply did the same again next year albeit with a different track... THEN you MIGHT have an argument. As a one off event/statement it is totally different.

Finally the charts have some variety at the top end. Something thats been incredibly lacking in recent years

I'm surprised how well their GHs is selling, I guess some people are buying it as the tracks from their first two albums are pretty rare to get hold off.

This Sunday's chart would see the real Christmas number one because of all these days sales leading up to Christmas Day.

The Christmas number one has always been regarded as the single on top of whatever is the current chart on Christmas Day. That means this year's Christmas number one was announced on Sunday. SImilarly, I have always regarded the number one single on the day I was born to be based on the current chart on that day, not the chart whose sales period covered the day I was born.

rhydians sales so far please.
The first chart of 2010 will be w/e 16 Jan.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it'll be W/E 9 Jan, just as the first chart of 2009 was W/E 10 Jan.

So happy to see Joe in the lead!

I am very happy he will be getting a No. 1 afterall.

If joe gets to number 1 he will have the last number 1 of the decade!

And even though i don not like Michael buble it would be nice to see his album reach number 1 it has been stuck at number two for weeks and it will be his first! ( i hate it when artists clog the charts. a.k.a. Susan Boyle )

Yeah, so rare that it took me 30 seconds to find them on Amazon downloads... :P

 at all the discussion about what week counts as the last of 2009 or the first of 2010.

Week ending dates are just equivalent dates. Guinness Book say 'date record first entered the chart. Since 1969, this date has been the Saturday following the new chart revealed the previous Tuesday and more recently the Sunday'.

Actually Rage is the last track of the decade its just a little quirk in the chart system, just been going thru the charts on MW site, so it tallies.

Buble beating SuBo :o
Hm, maybe I am wrong then... I will still continue to use my own system though, because it makes sense and that method doesn't ;o

The organisers did the same last year with Rick Astley but the campaign failed to win much support.

Hope Buble can stay #1 in the albums, and great to see The Fame (Monster) back in the top 3. :D
