So pleased Cher stayed. Actually loved her performance of 'Everytime'! wub:
If you are offended by someone calling you a twat online then i suggest that Jack and Mr Lovett aren't the one's who need to grow up.

Your attitude doesn't help matters either tbh

Oh i apologise! I didn't realise being a moderator meant that i couldn't be sarcastic and that i had to treat someone calling someone else a twat on an internet forum as a more serious crime than paedophilia.

And for the record, i am this forums moderator, so i suggest you watch your tone or that 10% warning level may just become 20%

I wasn't offended, I just find it funny how people think I'm being immature, when I'm not the one slinging insults.

Right, so you're going to warn me for speaking my mind but not warn someone for slinging insults at me?

Okay....

Double standards anyone?

Screw it, I'm done......

Actually, that was a friendly warning to get you to keep your attitude in check. Anything that i deemed thereafter as being inflamitory towards a moderator i would warn you for.

I personally don't see twat as that much of an insult. If i had a dime for everytime i've been called a twat

Moderators are expected to be fair and impartial, i don't think twat is an insult. However if abuse continued to be hurled then warnings would have to be issued.

Giving a warning for calling someone a twat is like settling a neighbourly dispute by blowing your neighbours house to f*** with C4. Just a little over the top.

I hate how the second people don't like where things are going they scream 'power abuse' or 'double standards' :manson:

I'm sure your contributions to this thread will be sorely missed if you do decide not to return.

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrr! ELATED she stayed, Mary was boring, it was her time to go!!! Rebecca to win!

I didn't say I won't come back to thread.

I'm just done arguing.

LOL. He actually got offended I called him a twat, dear me, I didn't know that offended people anymore ... and he asked for it by being one! I could've thought of far more colourful words to describe him than that.

General thoughts;

Alexandra was utterly phenomenal. I will happily say that was the best guest performance they've had this year so far. Vocally FLAWLESS and it was nice to have a reminder after a year of party banger after party banger that she actually DOES have a voice aswell.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I actually think Alexandra, not Leona, is the best winner the show has produced. Leona is maybe a tiny bit stronger on the VOX, but Alexandra is a much more rounded and varied performer.

The Glee cast were fun enough, especially the final couple of minutes with Mercedes bellowing into bemused Simon's face. But the intro was incredibly clunky, and were they miming?

I hadn't actually heard the Black Eyed Peas track before tonight. And dear God, it brought whole new meaning to the word ATROCIOUS. Easily one of the worst songs I have heard all year. I was surprised when I heard their new album was bombing in the charts. Tonight however, all became clear. I seriously cannot believe just how bad it is. I can't even objectively rate the actual performance, because I just can't get past how awful the song is.

On the actual results, the right acts were in the bottom 2. Mary and Cher were the ropiest of the five last month, so I can't find fault with that. I'm going to join the army of conspiracy theorists though - I'd love to know whether they'd planned to have a sing-off BEFORE they saw the voting results. They've never had a sing-off in a semi final before have they?

Both ladies were a LOT better in the sing-off than they were last night. I don't think Mary ever surpassed her week 1 performance, so it was nice to see her reprise that, and she did a wonderful job. She actually seemed to be enjoying herself, which was a little bizarre given the circumstances. Having watched the first few minutes of the Xtra Factor, I think she was a wonderfully gracious loser aswell, and put a lot of the other contestants to shame on that front.

My thoughts exactly.

I seem to remember posting that it didn't offend me, it just made me laugh.

I thought Mary sang brilliantly in the sing-off. She had a look on her face that said she knew she was gone but just thought 'Sod it ... I'm going out with a blast'. My favourite performance from her (I liked the song the first time she sang it though).

So much for Danni being the 'honest judge'. That did give me a chuckle. Still ... I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of my boss either.

I wish Cher would make her bloody mind up though. When Danni said last night that she'd like to hear her 'sing' more rather than the rap ... she used her very cliched 'ballads have been done before. I just wanted to bring a 'twist' to British music' (which I thought was a little arrogant to be honest.) And what does she do in her sing-off? A ballad (and a pretty crap one at that.)

Hopefully she'll go out first next week.

What did Mary say about Simon on the Xtra Factor exactly?

She said that Simon is unable to make up his mind - one minute he tells her to change, then when she does change, he tells her to go back to how she was and stay the same.

Pipe down with the petty arguing plsthx. <3

I think the right Top 4 has made it to the final and with the exception of maybe Aiden (who went too early), the entire Top 5/6 deserved to be there. I don't particularly ADORE anyone even at this stage, which is odd for me. I think this year I have finally seen X Factor for the ridiculous, hype-over-talent, fake freak show that it is. That said, I will still be making an effort to tune in for the final and I'm quite excited about seeing who the contestants duet with.

Cher - I have always thought she's unique and different and all that. I also think she's bratty and as Shoat and others have said, it's obvious that the way she is portrayed in the media is at least partially true. If she won it would actually be quite refreshing but I don't think she deserves it the most. Her version of a Britney CLASSIC was actually not bad and dare I say, she has a stronger voice than Ms Spears which made it work a lot better as a live performance.

One Direction - Obviously good-looking lads which skews my opinion of them a tad (even though I feel dirty for it) but I've defended them from the beginning because I think individually they have good voices and people who criticise them for not being able to sing are just annoyed at the whole boyband THING in general. I'm still waiting for their voices and performances to gel properly as a group - I can't be the only one who thinks their "harmonies" and choruses just sound like a load of guys shouting a mildly-tuneful lyric? If they won I'd actually be quite happy and they're probably in my Top 2. I think it's going to be between them and Matt.

Matt - IS A f***ING BORE. He has a nice voice but he is so mediocre in every other way that I have found myself comparing him to Steve Brookstein. As much as people adore him now (and everyone seems to), I can't see him maintaining a career because he's just DULL. "Oh I sing songs originally sung by girls, I must be good." No. As I said, I think this is between him and One Direction and I can unfortunately see the less-exciting act taking it.

Rebecca - I love Rebecca the woman, and I like her voice very much. I think where she falls down is that she's a BIT dull Leona-style (though obv it didn't prevent her from winning and being huge) and although I like her voice, I find her performances a bit boring. I don't think she's a popstar, but she is a good recording artist. She's my favourite I think (if I had to choose one), but I think it'd be more exciting for the show and for pop muzak if One Direction or Cher took this home.

As for the guest performers - I thought Glee were predictable and lacked energy, though that may be down to the crowd who didn't seem to be loving it as much as they were meant to? Alexandra was very good but I wanted her to be better. I wasn't blown away Leona - 'Run' style. Black Eyed Pea's proved that - excluding Fergie - they should never perform live, but I do unfortunately find myself now liking their TURD of a new song. It's like SEXYBACK all over again (which I always thought was so technically terrible, it must be good.)

Very pleased to see Rebecca and Matt go through, especially Rebecca, she deserves to win IMHO.

I feel a bit sorry for Cher though as she's getting so much hate, some of it really uncalled for.

Check out the sick comments on her latest videoblog. I've thumbed down and flagged each one.

Haters like that should have their accounts banned.

Well Mary could only sing ballads but imo so can Cher. The only time she's blown me away was her first performance of Stay. Mary, however, had several good performances but gets labeled as boring because she can actually sing (the exact same thing is said about Matt, Rebecca and TreyC on here). And Mary is so gracious. I bet Dannii let Cher through to avoid a massive tantrum as she knew Mary would be able to handle it. Oh well, Cher should be first out next week, the other 3 seem to have large fanbases-I mean they can't fix it so Cher wins in order to avoid her having a mental breakdown (or her own way)
whilst Cher has zero chance of winning, I wouldn't put it past her to come higher than 4th- I suppose she'll get a small rebound next week, plus she could get to sing Turn My Swag On again- which will go down well with her fanbase

I agree with all of these points. It was the best Mary has sung for a long time, and perhaps it was down to the fact that it was perfectly obvious how the judges were going to vote.

Cher probably does have a better singing voice than Britney, but let's be honest that's not much of a compliment! I know Britney has her fans, but she's never been renowned for being THE VOICE has she?

One Direction can sing, no doubt, but let's be honest, vocally they're not a patch on a Matt, Rebecca or even a Mary. They're adequate singers. Nothing more, nothing less (well actually Zain's more than a little $h!t at times...)

I totally disagree with you on Matt. I really don't think he'd be anything like Steve Brookstein at all. Brookstein was only ever gong to be a karaoke crooner, and he NEVER wowed anybody like Matt has plenty of times this series. I think if Matt won, he'd be more likely to go down a faux-singer/songwriter route - he's MOR but more David Gray/one-man Coldplay than Ronan Keating. Matt also remains the only contestant I have downloaded anything from (When Love Takes Over).

I think with Rebecca, it really just comes down to the performance vs vocals argument. If you value performance and stage presence, then you're going to be a Cher fan. If you're looking for a decent singer who will sound great on record, it's Rebecca. For me, I'm probably more likely to buy a CD then go out of my way to see Cher Lloyd being a c**t on stage, so Rebecca it is.

I bet Dannii let Cher through to avoid a massive tantrum as she knew Mary would be able to handle it.

If we're going for conspiracy theories, I think Kathy's is more likely - Dannii didn't want to upset paymaster Cowell. I don't however think for a minute that any of the judges would keep put someone through to the X Factor final just in case they threw a strop. Why would it matter to Dannii if Cher threw a tantrum?

whilst Cher has zero chance of winning, I wouldn't put it past her to come higher than 4th- I suppose she'll get a small rebound next week

I think you could be right on this. I have a suspicion that Rebecca will fall first.

*waiting for a warning for calling you dyslexic*

What's dyslexia got to do with it? Christ, you're such an utter child. Anybody defending Cher is 'a Cher loon' who 'cannot be reasoned with' and Dannii's a 'tool' for keeping her in. Do you have the slightest hint of objectivity?

Cher is through. DEAL WITH IT. Stop peddling your ridiculously overblown hatred for the girl because none of us give a $h!t about it and it's incredibly annoying to see the same vitriol being spouted every bloody week. Go do something with your life rather than obsessively posting hatred against somebody you're likely to never meet just because you don't particularly like them as a performer, you sad sad creature.

ON the result itself, I think it's fair to say Mary has been a goner for weeks now. Pretty much everybody knew it would be a Rebecca/OD/Matt/Cher final, and much like Paije the other week she could've launched a world destroying performance and still not gotten through, purely because at no point has she shown anywhere near as much potential as any of the remaining contestants - not that it helped things by her turning up week in, week out and just bellowing her way through each track. Although she really pulled it back with the sing-off, Cher was more than good enough for putting her through to be justifiable.

Next week? I'm seeing a One Direction victory, with Matt second, Cher third and Rebecca fourth. Cher has the enthusiastic youth fanbase that will be pretty sure to watch the final - she has loads of haters, but it doesn't really matter that much when you're voting to win. It'll be close between Cher and Rebecca though, but I think Rebecca's samey performances will really pull her down next week. (I'm not ruling out Cher fourth and Rebecca third.) On Matt and One Direction, I reckon it'll be pretty close again. I HOPE that it's an OD victory as, judging by Syco's handling of Joe this year, they are at least capable of providing contestants with good material to work with - I'd say gooddelta's proposal the other week that One Direction cover EMD may not be far off the mark if they win! On the other hand, I can really see Matt being stifled by victory and Syco - if he gets a contract with another label or gets one with Syco that includes artistic freedom, that would be far better for him I reckon.

In any case, I'd say it's inevitable that One Direction, Matt and Cher will get recording contracts, with Rebecca getting one depending on how well she does next week. I can easily see her becoming the new Stacey Solomon though.
