December 19, 201015 yr Who says they will? You're missing the point also, we want the so called 'artists' in the X Factor to come up with something original. No one takes them seriously because they're Cowell's puppets, THAT'S THE POINT. If Cowell came up with something original, like write a groundbreaking song and someone like Kylie had it then people would give credit to him. Can you name a manufactured band that has done anything original in the 21st century that people have been influenced by? Anyway JLS wrote their last single and while its not groundbreaking its not completely rubbish so at least they have at least a little say in their music now, do you think anyone who wanted to be a singer dreamt of doing karaoke covers and lasting no longer than 2/3 years? And since when did people writing their own songs do anything original within popular mainstream. I dont care who writes songs. Well done them if they can. If I enjoy a song then great. I dont really care who wrote it.

Before X Factor bands would make an effort to get a Christmas number one. Now there's no point. They will be swamped by a four-month advertising campaign for Cowell's blandies.

Very true! I remember people saying RATM would "save chart music", "best song in the chart in years" (that one was ridiculous, it wasn't even the best in the top 10 that week). :lol: I think people thought if the kids heard the song, there was NO way they could possibly go back to listening to Rihanna, Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Eminem, etc. But look, they're still in the chart. And RATM are nowhere.

I dont really care who wrote it. bit of a silly way to view things really, if you really enjoy a song then you should give credit to the songwriter for they are who brought you the enjoyment of the song. I think it would be stupid to be so selfish to just ignore the people who bring us what we enjoy.

December 19, 201015 yr I think Take That (and Robbie solo) did five performances in total last weekend across The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, so they certainly maxed out on exposure.

Compare the Christmas charts from the years before Cowell came along and now. Apart from a few dead years (2001 springs to mind) they were nearly always pretty buzzing. Hardly anybody releases Christmas week or the week before now, except mostly American artists. Not hard to guess why, is it? However, I do think downloads may have also had a small impact in killing the Christmas race too. Either way it's DEAD.
