January 2, 201115 yr Rhetorical question (but feel free to answer if you wish): Had Olly Murs won the X Factor, would he be having the success he's having at the moment, and would Joe McElledry be the one with a multi-platinum album? Hmm.. I think Epic is definitely better with him than Syco - Joe may have been given the chance to sing an original song with a different label, but I still think the problem is mainly him- he's really a West end star not a pop star
January 2, 201115 yr Olly Murs is older and has more idea of what sort of songs suit his voice. Obviously, we don't know for certain what happened behind the scenes, etc, but I get the impression Joe didn't have a whole lot of choice on what to sing, and not as much input on his album as Olly did. I get the impression that Joe was just handed a bunch of songs by his managers to sing on. Like I really think Joe would've chosen different types of music to put on his album than what ended up on it in the end.
January 2, 201115 yr Barbra Streisand still fresh. It should have been number 1! I got bored of it INSANELY quickly. I can't believe he didn't mention Boney M after playing that though, RIP Bobby Farrell :snif:
January 2, 201115 yr Author I thought we'd be seeing Barbara Streisand come back up top 40, played alot new years and on 2010 charts shown on TV. Jester, kind of is guaranteed  I don't agree - as I said, there are hardly any indications either way!

PUZZLE--the band's fourth album, released in 2007ùincluded collaborations with the contemporary composer Graeme Revell, and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. - HMV Video here: Chart history (Year peak title): 2002 61 57 2003 46 The Ideal Height 2003 26 Questions And Answers 2004 21 Glitter And Trauma 2004 24 My Recovery Injection 2005 27 Only One Word Comes To Mind 2007 13 Saturday Superhouse 2007 19 Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies 2007 18 Folding Stars 2007 29 Machines 2008 27 Who's Got A Match? 2008 05 Mountains 2009 10 That Golden Rule 2009 17 The Captain 2010 08 Many Of Horror (When We Collide) 2010 34 Bubbles 2010 36 God & Satan Album Discussion Here
January 2, 201115 yr This era had been great for Biffy Clyro. Given their ever growing, loyal fanbase, I can see their next album being their most successful, with their lead single going to number 1. It's safe to say that they're well on their way to becoming the UK's biggest band.

January 2, 201115 yr Wouldnt go as fas as saying UK's biggest band  But they are great and have benefited from a lot of exposure from X Factor. :)

Pretty sure I read in an interview (why was I reading a Joe McElderry interview?? I have no idea) that Joe actually picked Ambitions after he was played it, and then the rest of the album was kind of built to go in that kind of direction. So he had more say than you might think...

Maybe I'm a cynic, but perhaps Joe McElderry's media training from Syco taught him to say just that. Saying "Cowell told me to sing these songs, and threatened to beat me with a piano stool if I didn't" doesn't sound as good in an interview.
