February 17, 201115 yr Why did they release it when they did? Arrogance? I don't care what her fans are saying - the current situation wasn't in their plans. Maybe they, um, simply do not care about getting a UK #1?!
February 17, 201115 yr Maybe they, um, simply do not care about getting a UK #1?! Do you genuinely believe that?
February 17, 201115 yr  Do you genuinely believe that? I said MAYBE. Perhaps they do care, I don't know. Just saying, "arrogance" isn't the only possible reason they did that. It is possible that they don't care though. A lot of US artists get #1 in the UK, and seem not to care, or not even know about it!
February 17, 201115 yr Why did they release it when they did? Arrogance? I don't care what her fans are saying - the current situation isn't going to plan. It's already gone to #1 in 5 countries and #3 in the UK. Debuted at #1 on the UWC, being the first female single in history to do so. All with 3 days of sales and airplay. In the grand scheme of things, it makes it easier for 'Judas' to break the tremendous amount of records Born This Way has already broken. I'd say things are going to plan. She's proved to be the biggest star in the world easily. There will be more #1's to come and I can't even imagine what first week album sales will be like!! In the grand scheme of things, a UK #1 isn't really a big deal at all. If she had waited a week, she'd have missed the chance of being the 1000th #1 on the BBHot100 and I'm sure Interscope had that in mind. That's far more impressive with 3 days of sales than a 5th UK #1...

When you can get to number 1 in the US on 40,000 sales, believe me they care about the UK! I just think they believed it would storm the charts and glide to number 1. It may still do of course but it's taking its time and is hardly 'storming' it....plus the fact she is currently being outsold by a rookie who's in her third week on the UK chart must be more than embarrassing. A rookie whose single has had far more publicity. Let us not forget Jessie J has a video and a lot of radio airplay. GaGa's song hasn't even been out for a week. I seriously doubt she is embarrassed. It would be hard to get embarrassed about the UK charts when you're breaking the female first week sales record with only 3 days of sales and debuting at #1 on the UWC after 3 days of sales and airplay. Believe it or not, it is only UK acts who are genuinely bothered about the UK charts. America is where it's at. Look at Taylor Swift. 1,000,000 first week in the US and scrapes top 5 over here. Doubt she cares!!

February 17, 201115 yr 1. But GaGa is the biggest pop star in the World! 2 .So why release here? 1. Yes. But she had 34 hours of sales and no promo. 2. She wanted to release the song on the same day worldwide at the same time. She likes making things an 'event'. That's just GaGa. Sales matter more than chart positions. February 17, 201115 yr 1. Yes. Who else is there?? Who could really be considered bigger?? 2. She wanted to release the song on the same day worldwide at the same time. She likes making things an 'event'. That's just GaGa. Sales matter more than chart positions. That was my point. You're making excuses why the biggest pop star in the World can't beat a rookie in her 3rd week in the charts (and a rookie who hasn't had any TV performances shown whereas GaGa has had her Grammy performance shown on UK TV and press coverage all over the UK press). No matter how much you try and dress it up, it's not looking great. But keep deluding yourself. Edited February 17, 201115 yr by bellboys

No matter how much you try and dress it up, it's not looking great. But keep deluding yourself. Price Tag has a lot more airplay and a video. If you're seriously saying it's 'not looking great' after how many records BTW has broken without even a full opening week, I'm afraid *you* are the deluded one.
February 17, 201115 yr If she had waited a week, she'd have missed the chance of being the 1000th #1 on the BBHot100 and I'm sure Interscope had that in mind. No she wouldn't have - if it weren't for GaGa, Katy Perry would have just returned to #1. GaGa would still be the 1,000th #1 the following week.

No matter how much you try and dress it up, it's not looking great. But keep deluding yourself. I misread that and edited. I am not deluding myself. Her Grammy performance was not publicised, the Grammys hardly have an effect. At any rate, the effect of a music video is much greater. She sold 60k in her first day and is probably looking at first week sales of 130k+, which is impressive for a song without promo. She hasn't exactly had huge press coverage anyway. When the video is released, things will be different. You are deluded thinking it isn't going well. #1 and 448,000 sales in 3 days in US(previous record for a female 411,000)... #1 and 44,000 in 3 days in Canada (previous record overall 38,000)... #1 in Spain, #1 in Finland, #1 in New Zealand, #3 in UK. That's just the countries that have reported so far. I don't see why you think things aren't going well...??
February 17, 201115 yr No she wouldn't have - if it weren't for GaGa, Katy Perry would have just returned to #1. GaGa would still be the 1,000th #1 the following week. I was unsure if they were counting it as a 'new' number one or in the order of number ones kind of thing. Still, I got the impression they aren't overly worried about charting, more about getting in the sales.

So what, the girl is a WORLDWIDE star and not a local one, I'm sure any artist in the world would kill for what she's achieved on a WORLDWIDE scale.

Just because you may be disappointed by the fact that GaGa hasn't got to number 1 (yet), that doesn't mean that everyone else is deluding himself! She sold in 34 hours more than 60k! Less than a week and the single has sold more than 100k! Price Tag had all the media support! Lady GaGa had only the support of devoted fans who knew when the new single is out! We are talking about a song that released 6 days ago!!!! Edited February 17, 201115 yr by edward88

Elsewhere, the biggest multichannel audience of the night went to a screening of Air Force One, which appealed to 655k (4.8%) on BBC Three from 10pm. so, less than 655k for The Grammy Awards on ITV2, then... ITV's coverage of the Brit Awards was seen by 4.7 million on Tuesday evening and 4.7 millions saw JJ receiving an award

February 17, 201115 yr Whatever anyone says I think UK singles chart is the most important and influential chart in the music world. Gaga would have loved to have another #1 here but unfortunately her comeback single which was probably the most anticipated single of the year is just not doing well at all here, it is not strong enough and sounds too dated.
February 17, 201115 yr So what, the girl is a WORLDWIDE star and not a local one, I'm sure any artist in the world would kill for what she's achieved on a WORLDWIDE scale. I know she is! But we are talking of the UK here and the UK is one of the countries that makes up the world and even her biggest fan would surely admit that, at this moment in time and judging her on how you like to describe her, she's underperforming. No? Yes? Question: did you expect her to be number 1 this week? Edited February 17, 201115 yr by bellboys
