February 18, 201115 yr There is NO way Gaga will be a faller. How is Rolling in the Deep, S&M, Champion or whatever going to outsell Born This Way over the weeked? I'm pretty certain Lady Gaga will be #2 or #3. But judging by that passage, Adele must still be #3.
February 18, 201115 yr Author This is nailbiting its all going to the wire on Sunday, literally could be Jessie J or Adele for the top spot now. If Lady Gaga is lagging behind.
February 18, 201115 yr My MW session has expired  hopefully a back up plan is on its way :D I can't access mine either <_<
February 18, 201115 yr So its over for gaga for sure... i dont want jessie to be number 1... how far adele is from jessie??? She cant be far away... and the lead is still x2 than jessie and 2 more days... she must be number 1 on sunday or im wrong?????

I don't know, Saturday shoppers will push Adele's album more than anything, will Adele's single trail off by than, it could favour Jessie in the end.
February 18, 201115 yr People remember that Bad Romance debuted at number 13, right? And that it took weeks and weeks for airplay and the video to shift it to number one?
February 18, 201115 yr If i can borrow a mantra from the financial investments industry, Past Performance is No Guarantee of Future Results, lol. The way Gaga has tailed off against a rookie on her 3rd week on the charts is surely alarming for GaGa-ists. And the fact that Adele's album version of SLY looks like moving past her into 3rd place on itunes is even more amazing. Edited February 18, 201115 yr by bellboys
February 18, 201115 yr GaGa #1 Adele (SLY) #2 Jessie J #3 Adele (RITD) #4 Chipmunk #5 Edited February 18, 201115 yr by Neil
February 18, 201115 yr Doesn't that mean that SLY is less than a thousand behind? Well I don't know how trustworthy that information is, seeing as though Jessie is #3, not #2. However it wouldn't actually surprise me, judging from her lead on iTunes. Edited February 18, 201115 yr by Neil
February 18, 201115 yr Doesn't that mean that SLY is less than a thousand behind? He might be predicting the Sunday results? If those ARE today's mid-weeks, that pretty much guarantees Adele will be #1.
February 18, 201115 yr I don't think there is any way that 'Born This Way' is underperforming. If you take a full 1 week sale it will be well in excess of 125k. When was the last time a song sold that many copies in a week, which was not a charity single or performed in front of 14m+ people on X-Factor? It has no video and will have had barely any airplay. Jessie J's song is never off the sodding TV and I'm guessing the same for radio too. In the first 6 weeks of this year she's recieved as much hype as GaGa has ever had in a 6 week perion over here.
February 18, 201115 yr GaGa #1 Adele (SLY) #2 Jessie J #3 Adele (RITD) #4 Chipmunk #5 Yes, this is the update 'Until Midnight On Thursday'!

Actually, after last night I'm not getting involved in this any more  She's probably going to be trailing a rookie on her 3rd week on the charts and a song that isn't actually released as a single. How you interpret that depends on how big a fan you are, I suppose. Edited February 18, 201115 yr by bellboys

Grenade by Bruno Mars sold 150,000, Only Girl sold 126,000 and California Gurls sold 123,000. But all 3 songs were held back for like 3 months, so they were able to front-load their sales.
February 18, 201115 yr Actually, after last night I'm not getting involved in this any more  She's probably going to be trailing a rookie on her 3rd week on the charts and a song that isn't actually released as a single. How you interpret that depends on how big a fan you are, I suppose. I'm not really a GaGa fan, but this 'rookie' has the most played song on TV and the 4th most played song on Radio, as well as featuring an artist who had two big number one singles last year. She's been recieving ridiculous amounts of hype through various mainstream media since she won the 'Sound of 2011' at the start of the year. Like you consider GaGa to be underpeforming, I'd say if 'Price Tag' wasn't selling 75k+ for three consecutive weeks it would be underperfoming. I think the way that GaGa is selling is something that's going to become incredibly commonplace with this new on air/on sale method of release. You only have to look at the new Britney Spears single to see how much impact a video has. A chart run of 6-8-18-26 in its four weeks so far and would've been in danger of dropping out of the top 40 this week, but the video has now been released and assuming it goes to TV straight away I'd be very surprised if it wasn't at the very least challenging for the top 10 again next week.

But all 3 songs were held back for like 3 months, so they were able to front-load their sales. I forgot about Bruno only this year! [/facepalm] But still, GaGa sold 61k last week and had sold another 57k on yesterday's midweeks. Add Thursday sales and up to 14:00 today and you're probably looking at 130,000 sales. For a song to sell that on name alone, no matter who, that's phenomenal. I don't see anyone else that would do that.
February 18, 201115 yr Author Adele set for Brits chart double Friday February 18, 2011 Source: MW By Ben Cardew Adele could be on her way to a Brits-inspired chart double this Sunday with Someone Like You, the song she performed on the night, currently neck and neck with Lady GaGa’s Born This Way for the number one slot. This year’s event saw all of the Brits live performances – except for Rihanna’s medley – made available for sale via iTunes immediately after the event finished. Adele’s Someone Like You has been by far the biggest beneficiary, with the live version of the song making number one on the iTunes UK chart within 24 hours of her performance. It is still at number one on iTunes, with the original version of the song at four. On the OCC chart, both versions count towards one chart placing and the strong sales of the live performance have helped Someone Like You to climb the sales flashes, putting it just over 100 sales behind the early pace setter, Lady GaGa’s Born This Way. Last week’s number one, Jessie J’s Price Tag, is also selling very well and could still pip both to the top of the charts this Sunday. On the albums chart, Adele looks certain to top the rundown for a fourth straight week with 21. It has already sold more than 100,000 copies this week, taking it past the half a million mark in the UK. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Lady Gaga (65,413 - 1042 ahead of PT/ 200 copies ahead of Adele) 2 Adele [sLY] (65,200) 3 Jessie J/B.o.B [PT] 4 Adele [RITD] 5 Chipmunk/Chris Brown Top 10 6 Rihanna [s&M] 7 JLS Top 15 Pink Far East Movement 15 You Me At Six/Chiddy Top 30 21 Cee-Lo Green 24 Adele [MYFML] 26 Rihanna [OG] Top 40 31 Tinie Tempah [PO] Take That [Kidz] 33 Tinie Tempah & Eric Turner Glee Cast [TD] Glee Cast [sMU/LOAP] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Albums 1 Adele (100k) 2 Rihanna 3 Bruno Mars 4 Mumford & Sons 5 Adele [19] Top 10 6 Tinie Tempah 7 PJ Harvey Plan B Top 15 Cee-Lo Green Top 20 Arcade Fire JLS Top 30 Mogwai Eliza Doolittle Script Laura Marling Top 40 Andre Rieu XX Gruff Rhys NO SALES INFO ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ARTIST UPDATES Singles Chris 5+4 Ke$ha 5+5 Taio Cruz 6+6 Jessie J 7+6 Enrique 8+8 Rihanna/Drake 10+10 Katy Perry 11+11+13 Britney 30+8 Albums Katy Perry 10+9 Lady Gaga 14+14 BEPs 30+6 Kings Of Leon 31+4
February 18, 201115 yr In other countries where they do the on air/on sale thing, this type of behaviour is quite common for the artists with massive fanbases. Really high debut on the first week, then drops fast, and stablizes or re-climbs due to promotion. Classic example going on right before our own eyes. I Need a Doctor was #1 on US iTunes with no promotion (i.e. due to Dr. Dre and Eminem fans). A week later, it's out of the top 30 on iTunes. Then they perform it at the Grammys, and it's back up to #2. So, what's happening with We Bring the Stars Out? Surely it'd be top 40 today? It can't be combined to Pass Out, because that would definitely be higher than #31. Edited February 18, 201115 yr by Eric_Blob
February 18, 201115 yr Adele still at 3 :( I guess she had a fair way to close the gap. I can see Jessie J getting a 3rd week - hope i'm wrong
