'Born This Way' has sold nearly 110k and its only been out 6 days, how anyone could say that is underperforming I have no clue. It has had basically no airplay yet and only premiered 6 days ago - the video will help it A LOT too. I think this is being said because of the massive lead it had on itunes ect. but if you think back to a week ago, people were predicting it to chart anywhere between 10 and 30 on the few days of sales and has done far better than nearly everyone expected to begin with. Just remember, the bulk of people buying it are massive Gaga fans and not 'casual music buyers' yet as lots of them have not heard the song. I think its ridicilous to say its underperforming as I can actually see it being one of the biggest sellers of the year and it will probably hit #1 when the video is released.

Generally speaking, the UK and Europe is influenced by the US. I do not deny that the UK is influential, but it certainly isn't as influential as the US charts, which is the point I was making.

Jessie J won't go #1 in the US. She's not even in the top 100 on iTunes despite being in the top 40 on mainstream radio.

You do realise that there are over 10 glee songs in front, the grammy effect and around 6 Justin Bieber songs in front (Due to his movie). Her itunes position will start increasing more. It peaked in the later 60s/early 70s last week I believe.

Anyways.......

I don't see why everyone is so worried about Gaga. The single is going to sell well and be a success (it already is). Then she'll follow it up with another single which will smash and the album will sell bucket loads.

Thanks baby! At least give it a whole week before you start laughing at the whole big fail of BTW! :heehee:

Have you not read the previous few posts? My argument is that, relative to her being the world's biggest pop star, the fact that it is struggling to overcome a single from a rookie who's in her 3rd week on the chart suggests it IS under performing! Jessie J has had NO TV performances of her song, either (GaGa's Grammy performance was shown last night on UK TV and STILL had no real effect on sales).

Remember when Eminem and Rihanna got beaten to #1 by Roll Deep and Tania Foster?

Was the Roll Deep single in its 3rd week on the chart?

That was my point. You're making excuses why the biggest pop star in the World can't beat a rookie in her 3rd week in the charts (and a rookie who hasn't had any TV performances shown whereas GaGa has had her Grammy performance shown on UK TV and press coverage all over the UK press). No matter how much you try and dress it up, it's not looking great. But keep deluding yourself.
Elsewhere, the biggest multichannel audience of the night went to a screening of Air Force One, which appealed to 655k (4.8%) on BBC Three from 10pm.
so, less than 655k for The Grammy Awards on ITV2, then...
ITV's coverage of the Brit Awards was seen by 4.7 million on Tuesday evening
and 4.7 millions saw JJ receiving an award...

Okay then.

And? Did she perform? The level of delusion on here is palpable.

Funnily enough, again that's a no, then.

I would imagine I feel, at the moment, what Alastair Campbell's wife must feel like when they have a 'disagreement'. You SPIN me right round etc

PS Anyway, I'm going to watch some TV then get some shut eye. Night night.

well... M&S performed Timsheland and DID NOT The Cave and LLM... any thoughts about that?

In all fairnes to Gaga, It will proberbly be on 120k in a week tommorow. That's usually enough to go to number one and usually the singles announced and is on radio etc... Gaga should have defeated Jessie J though

Tbh Rihanna seems to be the thing Britain Love and she's more succesfull than Gaga In the uk imo.

Loud over 1million

Fame Monster Nearly 2million (2albums two years)

You are still failing to consider that BTW has very little significant airplay and no video, both of which Price Tag has. If you expected BTW to do any better than it has, you are completely deluded. It's already massively defied expectations.

And lady gaga is generally consisted seller so she'll still sell well and i still think she will sell decently, for all we know price tag and someone like you may end up in end of year top 10?

If I understood your post I would gladly reply to it.

Maybe they, um, simply do not care about getting a UK #1?!

This. By releasing it when they did they are getting the MOST possible sales and therefore making the most possible money!

Why would a chart position matter to the record company if they're making the most money possible? :P

From Irishguy28 in UKMix:

Quote:

The gap between GaGa (still number 1) and Jessie J (still number 2) in the UK has been drastically cut over night.

On Tuesday's figures, the gap was around 9,000. This time yesterday, it was just over 5,000.

This morning, the gap is a mere 1,042 copies.

And with Adele making up a great late-week challenge, I would now say that Lady Gaga is, at best, going to be officially a non-mover when the Sunday chart is revealed.

The way she's trailing off, she could even be revealed as a faller on Sunday's chart.
