August 21, 201114 yr Gaga has a great team (as does every artist) but you can't manufacture her drive and work ethic. She's an old fashioned grafter and she deserves everything she has achieved. She co writes and co produces all her songs and is involved in all her styling, marketing, video treatments etc and she's a great businesswoman. There's girls here and there that have better technical skills than gaga and Rihanna (though she is much less talented than gaga) but they don't have their drive and ambition. The entertainment industry has never been purely about just musical talent you need lots of different skills and a ruthless drive to succeed. But that's the point some people are making. A lot of her success is due to the fact that she is a good self-publicist and that she has a team behind her adding to that publicity. OTOH, Adele - while also enjoying some good publicity - has relied far more than GaGa on raw talent. At the other extreme, Jedward's brief success was entirely due to publicity.
August 21, 201114 yr Kylie does :kink: Really? The reason she's had so many ups and downs is because she's not particularly tenacious...I can't see her pushing someone if they got in her way like Madonna or gaga would. The woman is still with the same management that have effed up her last three album campaigns! Her work ethic has served her well though...that's why she's had a long career.
August 21, 201114 yr Yay, the first Jessie J song which I properly like! :D Her first three singles just went somewhere near me, but just not through me.

August 21, 201114 yr properly love this now :o  but oh dear, Ellie, I don't think DILAD is quite for you :drama: Edited August 21, 201114 yr by C.W
August 21, 201114 yr Wow @ Ellie doing DILAD. That's not overhype. That's being media savvy and the whole popstar package. and Eric how can you like Chillin' and Videophone? They are the worst songs she's ever been involved in. Videophone is tuneless! Like a million people on here have asked me how I like Video Phone. :( I just like how it sounds. I like a lot of songs that are tuneless. Video Phone just has a really good beat. I find it addictive to listen to, even now, and it's a bit hypnotizing. Chillin' is easy really. I think it's extremely catchy! It samples like 3 different songs, but combined it's like the most infectious song ever. I quite like Who's Laughing Now. Especially the bridge.

The woman is still with the same management that have effed up her last three album campaigns! Her work ethic has served her well though...that's why she's had a long career. The reason why she has had so many ups and down its becuase her career has lasted over 25 years. It cant all be ups if you have lasted that long. And no she would push someone like Madonna and Lady GaGa and for that im very happy that she isnt that kind of person
August 21, 201114 yr I am glad this is looking to be another top 20 for Jessie. Like Nicole's 'Wet', I am not expecting top 10, but it would be nice. I still think, even as the biggest Jessie loon ever, that the production in the chorus could be SO much better. The live version on her YouTube channel, the chorus has so much more of a punch.

Yeah but Adele's success is rare in the industry and she's very LUCKY. If you want to look down on gaga because of the way she's got to the top...then you are looking down on a lot of artists who have used the media in very similar ways. Comparing gaga and Adele is like comparing apples and oranges. Gaga last tour grossed $227m dollars aswell...she performed live every night all over the world. I don't see fashion runway shows making that much money. Gaga is a great live performer.
August 21, 201114 yr Wheyyyy! "21" spends it's FIRST 30 weeks in the Top 2!! Don't think any album has done this before! :)
August 21, 201114 yr The UK Top 5 Album Chart http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/2768195.JPG 01 Nero – Welcome Reality 02 Adele – 21 03 Amy Winehouse – Back To Black 04 Jay-Z & Kanye West - Watch The Throne 05 Adele – 19

And no she would push someone like Madonna and Lady GaGa and for that im very happy that she isnt that kind of person I can appreciate that. You do agree that Kylie needs to fire her team though right? It's been constant mess ups with her career since Body language to be honest. She deserves better. She wouldn't still be here today if she just sat back and always did as she was told. If she needed to, Kylie would be pushy.
August 21, 201114 yr YES NERO. :w00t: I was semi-expecting Adele to take it back again at the last second as Nero have fallen a lot on iTunes over the week so I thought that may also be reflected in physical sales, btu I'm delighted to be proven wrong. I wonder what the snafu with Adele being #1 in the first mids was about though?
August 21, 201114 yr happy that nero made it! all of their singles so far have been amazing, I should check this album out.
