September 4, 201114 yr Author Down On Me only spent like 5 weeks in the top 40 I think, and it's sold over 150,000!! It's probably spent like 9 months in the top 200! But that's my point really. Sales are what count, so I don't know why two songs can sell the same, but one classed a failure, one a success. People base success off their expectations, but they shouldn't. Like if Adele's next album sells a million, people will probably say it's a failure, because they're expecting her to sell more, but it's not a failure at all! Same with a song selling 200,000. Down On Me was not hyped up like Cher Lloyd, so clearly there is a huge difference. A middling song spending 10 weeks between 35 and 40 and selling 150k is a 'success' and a #1 selling the same and spending 7 weeks in the top 40 isn't. Anyone sensible can see that.
September 4, 201114 yr I'm sorry but Jade Richards audition was so overated. I don't mean to be horrible but I genuinly think that. I thought that as well - the reactions from the judges were so fake and OTT, it's hilarious. She was nothing more than decent.
September 4, 201114 yr DJ Fresh - Louder, this sounds so old now and not fresh [if you'll pardon the pun :P] at all.
September 4, 201114 yr You're confusing 'failure' with 'failure for a #1'. Expectations of sales are far higher for a #1 than a #35. Therefore a #1 selling 150k is much less impressive than a #35 selling 150k. Is this that hard to get round your head? Yes. I understand that. But getting to #1 is not a failure, not matter what its chart run. Do you understand that? And a song selling 150,000 is not a failure, no matter where it peaks in the chart. Do you understand that?

September 4, 201114 yr I thought that as well - the reactions from the judges were so fake and OTT, it's hilarious. She was nothing more than decent. Agreed. Her timing was all over the place. Plus she got half the words wrong.
September 4, 201114 yr Author But getting to #1 is not a failure, not matter what its chart run. Do you understand that? And a song selling 150,000 is not a failure, no matter where it peaks in the chart. Do you understand that? No, because it is a relative failure. So you not understand that?!
September 4, 201114 yr Yes. I understand that. But getting to #1 is not a failure, not matter what its chart run. Do you understand that? And a song selling 150,000 is not a failure, no matter where it peaks in the chart. Do you understand that? I re-direct you to the first sentence of my post. You're confusing the concepts of 'failure' and 'failure for a #1'. No one is saying Cher Lloyd's single has been a failure (or if they are then they're wrong).
September 4, 201114 yr Author It's not hard to get heads around, it's just not logically sound. I actually agree with Bray, it is logically very sound.
September 4, 201114 yr Bloody hell, I'm agreeing with Eric Blob and disagreeing with Jester & Bre. This can't be right!

September 4, 201114 yr I thought that as well - the reactions from the judges were so fake and OTT, it's hilarious. She was nothing more than decent. I know plenty of people who were sobbing after her performance thought she was amazing. It's all down to personal taste. I think she was alright, but not that amazing.
September 4, 201114 yr Author Bloody hell, I'm agreeing with Eric Blob and disagreeing with Jester & Bre. This can't be right! It's good to debate though.
September 4, 201114 yr NOOOOOO who is still buying this?!?! but then again I could say the same thing about someone like you.
September 4, 201114 yr My guess is that SLY will end at around 15 on next week, Otis will be top 20, too, probably.
