February 5, 201214 yr Comments on the album chart; Great to see Lana Del Rey at #1 even if it was incredibly predictable :P Leonard Cohen back at his album chart peak for the first time in 43 years, how odd. I wonder why previous new albums by him have underperformed so much while this has been quite big? :o Glad Coldplay are top 5 again although I'd hoped they would be #4. They always seem to fall from their midweek position :( Good to see Guetta's album back in the top 10, it's underperformed a bit so far I think. Olly at #11 again for the fourth week in a row  Drake and Adele [19] back in the top 20 :cheer: New peak for The Black Keys :o Chase & Status climbing again :cheer: Ben Howard and James Morrison back in the top 40 and The 2 Bears held on :cheer:
February 5, 201214 yr Thrilled Lana is having such success. I hope that she can do a Rizzle Kicks, and have her first two pre-album singles getting the same position in the low top 10 and then the post-album single can be the biggest hit - I would love to see Summertime Sadness, National Anthem or even Blue Jeans become a hit for her as well. I'd say that this is extremely unlikely, Lana's hardly as commercial as Rizzle Kicks and although the album's good I don't think there's anything that could become another huge hit for her.
February 5, 201214 yr Without You seems to be Lana's most popular album track (probably charted top 200 officially this week). So maybe they'll go with that for the next single, unless there's another reason it's sold so much. It's an incredibly common song name so some people might have thought it was a cover, and it was also one of three tracks that was on the deluxe edition of the album.
February 5, 201214 yr 8 (from 8) Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) [D] http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51sX6dtiddL._AA115_.jpg Chart Run: 71-21-11-8-8 [5 wks] Release date: 16-10-2011 Format: download only track Label: RCA Records Label As the very first winner of the AMERICAN IDOL television show competition, Kelly Clarkson was inevitably pegged as little more than a manufactured pop commodity. The surprisingly versatile singer managed to survive against expectations, however, and released one of the most infectious singles of 2005, "Since U Been Gone." The success of the song not only endeared Clarkson to a tremendously diverse cross-section of the music listening population, it altered her status from mere contest winner to genuine pop sensation and pointed to a career worth following. - HMV Video here: Xn676-fLq7I Chart history (Year peak title): 2003 06 Miss Independent 2003 35 Low / The Trouble With Love Is 2005 05 Since U Been Gone 2005 09 Behind These Hazel Eyes 2005 07 Because Of You 2006 21 Walk Away 2006 22 Breakaway 2007 09 Never Again 2009 01 My Life Would Suck Without You 2009 36 I Do Not Hook Up 2009 66 Already Gone 2011 04 Mr Know It All 2011 08 Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) Discussion Thread Here
February 5, 201214 yr I'd say that this is extremely unlikely, Lana's hardly as commercial as Rizzle Kicks and although the album's good I don't think there's anything that could become another huge hit for her. I think National Anthem is the obvious next single choice and it should do well, it's annoyingly catchy.
February 5, 201214 yr dont worry steve, i see your point, but due to how things land in the chart, thats the way it is, suppose the same way 78s and 45 just landed into the charts. as for opinions, i said before that i hate glee, because they cant sing for toffee, yet i see every single week people saying they hate this and bored with this and that, and they dont get shot down in flames. I see the same thing all the time. I'm always criticizing Bruno Mars, Taio Cruz, etc. and nobody ever tells me off or anything. But I can say the exact same criticisms about songs from female artists, and I get, quite frankly, SLAUGHTERED for it. We just have to deal with it I guess. I try and stop saying bad things about female pop songs anymore. Edited February 5, 201214 yr by Eric_Blob
February 5, 201214 yr Yes, that would be perfectly reasonable! but Man In The Mirror is NOT by any means a 2009 song  in the same way, Iris isn't a 2011 song etc. 117,000 for Lana? incredible :o Edited February 5, 201214 yr by C.W
February 5, 201214 yr Good album chart this week really happy with Lana Del Ray, Snow Patrol, Olly Murs, Noel Gallagher and David Guetta positions.
February 5, 201214 yr It's an incredibly common song name so some people might have thought it was a cover, and it was also one of three tracks that was on the deluxe edition of the album. I think it's solely down to the latter part of your comment, I imagine lots of people bought the normal album at it's reduced price (on many other sites to itunes) and then downloaded the bonus tracks as it still worked out much cheaper.

February 5, 201214 yr It's nice to see high sales at the top of the album chart again. Although the sales overall are still very poor. This Kelly Clarkson song is growing on me, but I still think Since U Been Gone was so much better.

That's because on this site there are far too many fans of female artists so I wouldn't wonder, and you should know this too, because you've already "moaned" about it
February 5, 201214 yr Well I think your comment looked arrogant too. But anyway Lego House entered the top 75 after Drunk, you wrote it incorrectly. On another note the chart history is not a singles list, it is a list of charted songs from the posted artist in a chronological order of first apperance of the song. Polyhex does the same, and it is our source. ;) i disagree i simply stated the way i thought it would suit in my opinion, thats all!
February 5, 201214 yr I think National Anthem is the obvious next single choice and it should do well, it's annoyingly catchy. I agree with you and it probably will do well, but the chances of it peaking at number 2, or even top 10, are, in my opinion, extremely low.

February 5, 201214 yr Hoping Lana Del Rey isn't the only artist to have some good album sales this week - would be nice for the #3-10 selling better than 15k. Great to see Jessie J and Noel Gallagher climbing - and then David Guetta back in the t10!
