Oh, I see this is the 'new format' of the chart show - recapping 11-40 at 6pm isn't too bad an idea I guess. (And I assume this is why the album chart was delayed, so they can fit it into the 6-7pm part).

EDIT: Got confused at them counting down the whole chart there

Edited by Davidson

Yep but for some songs it's difficult to say if they are a proper single or just an album track. For Example the aforementioned Love On Top, or Super Bass, or this one by Pixie: Kiss The Stars. We could talk about it later though ;)

I was thinking it'd be difficult to establish what was a single and what wasn't. To be honest I'd go with anything that was promoted as a single in the UK to be singles (like Superbass and Love On Top) and tracks such as Talk That Talk (although this will become a single shortly anyway) that chart but haven't been promoted to be album tracks.

Edited by cookie_monster

What's with the huge recap and the intro to the chart show being played again? I think saving the album T5 and single T10 until the end together is a good idea - although for casual listeners, they'd only need to ever listen to the last hour to get the main chart news.
It entered the top 75 BEFORE Lego House.

This isn't difficult to understand is it?

Theres no need for rudeness and arrogance in your reply....my opinion is simply yes Lego House entered the top 75 before it but i would rather the discography follow single releases for future reference, not that my opinion reallly matters anyway but i have a right to give it! :arrr:

Anyway...didnt realise they did a 40-11 countdown at this stage now...i like it! :D

That order would be good for you and some other members, but there would be others that would moan to make the list in chronological order and tbh it has more logic than put them in an order that has no sense, only the single release date.

BTW what is the exact date of release of Love On Top? :D

That's not the point I was making. It would be the year in which it achieves its peak. Therefore Love On Top would be listed as 2012 as would Drunk!

Born To Die has matched Video Games then which is a pleasing result after the somewhat slow start last week.
Born to die still to come

I replied as such as I had already explained why we do it the way we do twice. This can rather grate on me.

The Top 10 is going to be Video Jockey Style by the end of the Month.
A second #9 single for Lana Del Rey then, woo! If will.i.am is the only song to challenge for a T10 placing this week, then 'Born to Die' could well maintain a second week inside the top 10 - especially with the multiple versions pushing it above Pixie Lott and Pitbull.

All these albums tracks being singles later makes it all confusing

Things used to be alot simpler when singles were physical only.

Lana in the single digits :cheer:

Credit to Pitbull where due, it's got to be pretty rare for a download-only song to have 2 weeks top 10 without ever making the iTunes top 10.

On November 23, 2011, author, singer, and songwriter Leonard Cohen released "Show Me the Way" as a precursor to Old Ideas, his first album since 2004. Two more new songs, "Lullaby" and "Darkness," were showcased during his two-year world tour that lasted from early 2008 to last year. They are included on the new album, whose topics are deeply spiritual in nature and range from mortality to sexuality, loss, and acceptance. Old Ideas will be released on January 31, 2012. Turning Tables (Live)

'21' is the second album from singer-songwriter Adele, and like her first record, 2008's '19', it is named after the age Adele was when she wrote the album. Most of '21' was produced by Rick Rubin, who has worked with some of the biggest acts of the last 20 years, and Florence & The Machine producer Paul Epworth. Lyrically the album reflects Adele's increased maturity since '19', although it explores many of the same themes.

Paradise

Coldplay began working on Mylo Xyloto in 2009, while the band was still in the midst of its multi-year tour in support of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Recording sessions stretched from 2009 to 2011, with Brian Eno collaborating with the band on several songs and R&B singer Rihanna lending her vocals to “Princes of China.” Markus Dravs, Daniel Green, and Rik Simpson all shared production credits, too, resulting in a diverse album inspired by industrial rock and electro-pop. Coldplay began debuting the new tracks as early as May 2011, with “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” kicking off a string of anthemic singles.

"Stomp Stomp, I've arrived!" struts the opening lyric of Jessie J's debut single, 'Do It Like A Dude' – a heavy urban-pop tune set to juddering beats and laced with her own brand of ghetto-fabulous, sordid swagger.

The instantaneous skank-inducing debut has already picked up airplay from the likes of Twin B, 1Xtra and Mista Jam, Radio 1, with the white hot remix from man-of-the-moment and good pal Labrinth rocketing Jessie J straight to the top of the HypeMachine chart in under 24 hours - all an impressive 3 months ahead of release.

The 22-year old, Essex-born songwriter has penned tunes for the likes of Alicia Keys, toured with Chris Brown and notably wrote Miley Cyrus's Number One billboard smash 'Party In The USA!' While her multi-octave voice and self-made attitude has earned Jessie J the respect of music's glitterati; from Justin Timberlake commenting 'Who is the best singer? Jessie J!', to Cyndi Lauper pulling her on stage at Shepherds Bush to sing her legendary anthem 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' alongside her.

'Do It Like A Dude' is a ghetto chic, crotch-grabbing, urban-pop diamond amongst the rough which cements Jessie J's debut album firmly in place as one of the most anticipated releases of 2011.- HMV

AKA...What A Life!

When Oasis split up in August 2009, the Gallagher brothers bounced back by both forming their own side-projects. Liam Gallagher launched Beady Eye that same year, retaining most of Oasis’ lineup and cranking up his love for ‘60s rock & roll. Meanwhile, Noel reached out to musicians from different bands to piece together the High Flying Birds, whose music struck a balance between Oasis’ epic pop/rock and the Kinks’ lush psychedelia. Released in October 2011, the album also proved Noel’s willingness to step out of his comfort zone with songs like “The Death of You and Me,” which featured a marching band’s horn section. - HMV

Grenade

Bruno Mars has already taken the UK by storm since releasing his debut single in September - he has headlined a sold out London show and supported friend and singer Travie McCoy on a string of UK and European dates. As well as this, his debut single 'Just The Way You Are' went straight to Number 1 in the UK charts and has now sold over 600,000 since its release and so far is the second highest selling single of the year – a feat that is hard to come by these days for new artists. All three singles combined, including the No. 1 smash hit 'Nothin on You' with B.o.B and 'Billionaire' with Travie McCoy have not only marked Bruno as a credible and versatile up-and-coming artist but have totalled over 1.3 million sales to date!

Having spent the past few years writing and co-writing songs for the likes of Flo Rida, Travie McCoy, Sugababes, Alexandra Burke and B.o.B, Bruno is now stepping out as an artist in his own right and if the success of Just The Way You Are is anything to go by...this Hawaiian native, now based in L.A, is set to take on the world. - HMV
