February 5, 201214 yr I agree with this, if the song is made into a single I personally think it should be moved to when it was released and got its new peak. It just makes it look like 'Drunk' was the 3rd single and it wasn't. I agree with the way they do it tbh. I know it's simple in Ed Sheeran's case, but it could potentially get really complicated if they did it in single order, especially since in the current download era it's not always clear what exactly is a single or not. Love on Top could be an album track technically, since it hasn't actually had a "single release", even if it has been promoted as one.

In a couple of years it won't matter at all, as you will not recognize what was a proper single and what was cherrypicked album track. This happens now a lot of times. Nicki Minaj's songs are half album tracks only. Neither Super Bass nor Fly had a single release in the UK. Our chart history is in a chronological order and will stay like this, the same as polyhex does. Personally I prefer this.
February 5, 201214 yr Pixie Lott back up to at least #11 then. Why has it climbed back so much this week I wonder?

Actually we could highlight what was a proper single and what was only an album track. But to compile the chart history is a big work anyway so I don't think we will do it in the next couple of weeks/months. Sorry :( You could find errors now and then still.

February 5, 201214 yr Pixie Lott back up to at least #11 then. Why has it climbed back so much this week I wonder? It jumped up like 6 places on iTunes after being used on the CBB final on Friday night last week, no idea what sustained its boost throughout the week though, I think she has a performance on Daybreak as well.
February 5, 201214 yr Wouldn't it make more sense to just move a song to the end when it achieves a new peak? Therefore Drunk would be moved to the end, Love On Top would have been moved to the end etc.
February 5, 201214 yr Author Wouldn't it make more sense to just move a song to the end when it achieves a new peak? February 5, 201214 yr I guess maybe we could add (S) and (AT) next to the history one day? Yep but for some songs it's difficult to say if they are a proper single or just an album track. For Example the aforementioned Love On Top, or Super Bass, or this one by Pixie: Kiss The Stars. We could talk about it later though ;)
February 5, 201214 yr I don't understand all the hate for Kiss The Stars, it's not brilliant but the best of this era IMO

February 5, 201214 yr I guess maybe we could add (S) and (AT) next to the history one day? It'd be a lot less work if you just put a little (AT) next to album tracks - the vast majority of entries will be singles :P It jumped up like 6 places on iTunes after being used on the CBB final on Friday night last week, no idea what sustained its boost throughout the week though, I think she has a performance on Daybreak as well. Oh yeah, I forgot it was used on CBB again. (Wait, the final? It's over already? Feels like it only just started )

But to compile the chart history is a big work anyway so I don't think we will do it in the next couple of weeks/months. Sorry :( You could find errors now and then still. I really think its fine the way it is, singles chronology isn't really that important imo (especially as a lot of album tracks do well with no single release nowadays) Edited February 5, 201214 yr by C.W
February 5, 201214 yr Wouldn't it make more sense to just move a song to the end when it achieves a new peak? Therefore Drunk would be moved to the end, Love On Top would have been moved to the end etc. That order would be good for you and some other members, but there would be others that would moan to make the list in chronological order and tbh it has more logic than put them in an order that has no sense, only the single release date. BTW what is the exact date of release of Love On Top? :D
February 5, 201214 yr Why is he doing a rundown of the whole top 40? He hasn't even done the albums yet
February 5, 201214 yr Author What IS reg up to this week? No albums yet, and now running down the whole 40-11 before the top 10?!
