The charts really need shaking up. The likes of Somebody I Used To Know, Starships, Call Me Maybe, Titanium, Turn Me On, Mama Do The Hump, Domino, Next To Me, Sexy And I Know It, Take Care, Wild Ones and 212 have been around for ages and then we've got old songs like Ordinary People, Hey Soul Sister, I'm Yours and Sweet Disposition charting as well. :o It feels like we've been listening to the same chart show for weeks. Meanwhile songs like 'Ill Manors', 'Last Time', 'Climax', 'Bright Lights', 'Love Me' and 'Elephant' all having short chart runs. Even 'So Good' and 'Sparks' don't look like they'll be sticking around for long.

I'd imagine at least one of them will by the end of the year, Loveable Rogues most likely or perhaps Ryan O'whatshisface. Jonathon & Charlotte are bound to have a #1 album and Molly Rainford strikes me as a Ronan Parke sort of figure, a rushed out album not too far into the future that flops.

I have trouble remembering their names as well  Ryan O Shaugnesee?!

O'Shaughnessy. :P Sam Kelly's the other one.

I see what everyone means about the chart being clogged up with the same songs. I mean - who is still buying STIUTK, Starships, Sexy & I Know It, Mama Do The Hump, etc, when Alyssa's looking likely to drop out the top 100 this week. :(

I reckon The Loveable Rogues have a chance of actual success it managed right, its certainly refreshing to hear original songs on the show. I hope that boyband don't get signed, on the basis of last night, I can't say I was impressed!

Alyssa is just as old or only slightly younger than all of those, just fell down the charts quicker

4 weeks top 15 :D not too bad, even if it did narrowly miss the top 10 TWICE it still did better than I initially thought it would.

I agree about the Loveable Rogues - I would probably buy their album. The Mend were ok, but nothing amazing.

If you mean The Mend, Simon has signed them up to become the new Wanted :(

Yes but I like Alyssa's song more than any of them.

Who else did he sign?

She's way younger than some of them. I heard Somebody That I Used to Know, Domino, Titanium, Turn Me On and Sexy and I Know It in summer 2011. Now we're approaching summer 2012!

You've literally just listed Capital's playlist  I think Somebody That I Used To Know, Starships and Call Me Maybe are alright for the moment, but they are all certain to spend too long in the top 40. The only one that I'd disagree with is 212, which I can see making a quick exit from the top 40 soon before it gets too old. I agree it is annoy that when we do get new music it just falls out the chart again quickly :(

I think it's the way the songs are promoted now that keeps them in for so long, most major radio stations seem to hang on to the songs they are playing for as long as possible before letting go, while completely ignoring others. I also thing TV is using more recent music in their shows (albeit a few weeks later) which helps a song to stay in the chart for even longer than usual.
