June 6, 201213 yr Am I the only one who thought Aiden Grimshaw would do a lot better than that? I was expecting at least Top 10, especially with Radio 1 support!
June 6, 201213 yr Fantastic sales for Gary!! Having the number 1 album and single is a great achievement and exactly what he deserves! Guess Alex's future depends on the sales of the top 10, i would expect Gary to sell very well. I still think she will re peak at some point Time for Adele to leave now and let others have a chance, she's had more than her fair share of media and spot light Edited June 6, 201213 yr by jay727
June 6, 201213 yr Alexandra, Kaiser Chiefs and Kylie all flopping badly. It's not surprising Kylie has flopped. I'm a massive Kylie fan but there was no way I was going to dig into my wallet and pay £10 for another greatest hits with no new material. I think Alexandra Burke is probably the most surprise shock. I expected her album to have gone top10 but she's really lost her popularity.
June 6, 201213 yr Alexandra won't get dropped. When was the last time a major artist got dropped? Everytime an artist flops it's "oh they'll be dropped this year" (The Saturdays, Pixie Lott). Alexandra has had three solo #1's, plus three further top ten singles and an almost triple platinum album under her belt. Throw in the successful tour she done, the minor success in Europe and the fact she's barely had any airplay (so she's got an "excuse" for flopping) and I can't see why on earth she'd suddenly get dropped after one album bombs. I bet even Cover Drive will get another album even though they've performed much worse than Alexandra (with much better airplay and promotion and no success to fall back on).
June 6, 201213 yr That's very true actually, The Saturdays album was a big flop and so was Pixie's so on that precedent Alex should be ok, although im not sure what their sales were compared

June 6, 201213 yr Anyway, does anyone know the reason for the resurgences of 'Graceland', 'Ziggy Stardust' and 'Legend'? Especially the former being back in the top 10! Also, Jessie J's 'Domino' has re-entered at #32 on the singles and The Script's 'Science & Faith' at #40 in the albums - can these be added to the update please :P Edited June 6, 201213 yr by Bré
June 6, 201213 yr No way back *this* time, surely. Until her RAH live performance is shown again on BBC :drama:

Tragic for Alexander  Even without all the Jubilee performers albums bouncing back up the charts she still would not be Top 10 :( Clearly she is going to be overtaken by the likes of Adele etc, so can see this entering at #23 before plummeting to #72 or something! I really don't get all the hate for the album - Its a bloody good pop/dance album!

June 6, 201213 yr Thanks Pop B!tch/Suedehead. Interesting that these two classic albums were released about 15 years apart! Wasn't Graceland re-issued in the recent past and got back to #40? Edited June 6, 201213 yr by Bré

I bet even Cover Drive will get another album even though they've performed much worse than Alexandra (with much better airplay and promotion and no success to fall back on). None of those artists are on Syco though. Shayne (with 2 high selling albums, and most likely a better selling Q4 release 2 years ago than this) couldn't even survive the drop. Simon seems to have no faith in his artists, and as soon as he can see signs that the public won't buy (without LOTS of effort and promotion), he gives up. Probably me being cynical, but I honestly believe Alexandra stands a FAR HIGHER chance of being dropped than any of those above acts. :(
June 6, 201213 yr I thought she'd left Syco? iTunes disagrees. Heartbreak On Hold says '2012 Simco Ltd' as all Syco releases say (apart from the 2012 bit obviously), so I presumed she was still with Syco.
June 6, 201213 yr Great to see Coldplay/Rihanna's Princess of China finally in the Top 10, but not great that Emeli Sande's My Kind of Love falling 13 places! :( Ugh at Ed Sheeran jumping to number two in the albums, but atleast it won't reach number one with Gary Barlow in front. Suprised that Kylie's greatest hits is number 4 - it will probably miss the Top 20. Great to see Madonna back in the Top 40 (good old HMV offers!) and also Bob Marley! :D
