I actually really do enjoy this, despite not being very impressed with anything else these boys have produced so far.

So happy Lawson managed to hold on at #6 - Really thought this might fall to #8 by today and it's still Top 10 on iTunes - This needs to stick around for a bit to help the album shift a few copies
Wings chart run is probably the most consistent I've ever seen

Nothing's Real But Love

An X Factor finalist with a smoky neo-soul voice, Rebecca Ferguson began working on her major-label debut in early 2011, mere weeks after becoming the show’s 2010 runner-up. Released later that year, the record sketches out a soulful sound similar to Duffy and Corrine Bailey Ray. Ferguson puts her own stamp on the music by co-writing every track, including the lead single “Nothing’s Real But Love.” Most X Factor finalists load their debut albums with cover songs and schmaltzy ballads; Ferguson, an established songwriter as well as a singer, proves there are other avenues worth exploring.

All Your Gold

Bat for Lashes first captured hearts way back in 2006 with a set of distinctively haunting and darkly phantasmagorical songs ripe with magic realism. Two Mercury Music Prize nominated albums, the atavistic, reverb-drenched Fur and Gold (2006) and 2009's universally acclaimed Two Suns, re-affirming Natasha Khan as a unique song writing talent and one who is paving her own way. Bat for Lashes returns with her long awaited third album The Haunted Man via Parlophone on October 15th. Produced by long time collaborator David Kosten and newly appointed Dan Carey, the album features a mixture of electronic beats and swooning ballads backed by an orchestra recorded at Abbey Rd. studios.

The title track is one of the album's two pole stars. Khan sees it as the record's 'godfather', representing the trauma of loss and miscommunication (with the other being the more hopeful 'Lilies', exploring creative resurgence, love and sensuality). 'The Haunted Man' is an overwhelmingly lovely song, poignant and ghostly, but with a strong restorative charge and was inspired by David Lean's movie 'Ryan's Daughter', which is set in 1916 against the backdrop of the Irish conflict. This was one of several songs she worked on with Rob Ellis, when they and other players decamped to a house in Perugia last summer, and it involved projecting massed male vocals across a canyon with an amp, then recording the slapback – a sonic metaphor for the men returning over the hill from war. - HMV

Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

P!nk will return with her sixth studio album 'The Truth About Love' in September. Here she explains her thoughts behind her latest project:

"The Truth About Love is one of my favourite songs on the record, but I realized it also sums up my whole adventure in this lifetime. I used to be really motivated to do really dangerous and stupid things for love, and I was really fearful of love. When I was a little girl, 'love' meant fighting and bickering and losing your parents. But now love is also having a child and unconditional and beautiful and, with my husband, sexual. Musically, it's not a Sade record, where you know what you're going to get when you put it on. It's a P!nk record; you have no idea what you're going to get. I don't know what I'm doing when I go in to record an album, so I think that's the theme: questions and experiences and running from - and running to - love." - P!nk - HMV

With so much support from Capital, Heart and even now Radio 1 it's not great for them that this is their lowest peaking single. I wonder how their album will do?

I can't really see who their fanbase is - they don't seem to be a typical 'boyband', but their music seems so dated and corny to be aimed at a 'credible' market, I'd be very surprised if they lasted long.

Leona #3...oops.

#flopleona. :kink:

Not too surprised that it's at #3, Mumford & Sons seem to have a good weekend effect. Brilliant that Jake Bugg is number one, somewhere between 30k-40k I think.

Random thought re: Jake Bugg - there aren't really very many self-titled #1 albums recently are there? Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is the only other one this decade so far.

Ouch at Leona dropping to #3 but I semi expected it.

Honestly didn't see Leona being lower than 2. Bit of a flop for her.

I never actually considered that Rihanna got to #1 without a video, that's rather impressive! The only other songs I can think of that did that (recently at least) are 'Sexy Bitch' and 'Someone Like You' and the latter had the BRITs video doing the rounds the whole time. Any others I'm forgetting?

This is still growing on me with every listen, rapidly becoming one of my favourite Rihanna songs! Odd as her slower songs tend to be her worst, 'Unfaithful' aside.

Didn't care for this tune. But I forgotton that this guy had a hit record in 2005 and I thought it was good.
