Snow Patrol look likely to chart for yet another week pushing it one step closer to the inevitable million seller.

I wonder if that would make 'Chasing Cars' the first million-seller never to reach the top 5. :o

Great to see this making progress. Could well be the Train "Drive By" of the year (they sound similar too).

Gutted to see Mel and Matt down to #15 - However still doing 1,000 times better than I ever hoped! Hopeful the 'This Morning' performance tomorrow can stabilise it
I think Matt and Mel will struggle to get back up there even with promo. It was nice while it lasted but it's back to a good old mediocre iTunes top 10.
I think Wonder is better than Lifted, but Lifted sounds and feels more like a hit so it's not a huge shock it's looking to do better.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it would actually! Isn't I Don't Want To Miss A Thing currently the lowest peaking million seller? (peaked at #4)

Blue Monday sold over a million copies on its original release without going any higher than #9 I believe. A remix from 1988 did make #3 though.

Yay for Lifted 59p! :cheer: Movement pls. Seems like they've been at #8 forever.

Typical! Reduce the price after I've bought it for 99p! I don't care though, anything to help the track chart well but I don't think it will go higher than 8, I'd rather Lana stays at 7 and Sean Paul drop to 8 so Naughty Boy can get to 6

'Lifted' has really grown on me, heard it on the radio today and it's got such an epic sound. Not a patch on 'La La La' though.

It'd be nice if Rizzle Kicks could get a number one on their own, although I think 'Lost Generation' is fairly weak.

'Don't Stop Believin'' (also a #6) will probably pass the million mark in the not-too-distant future. 'Ho Hey' (#8) has also sold over 700k and is still around although starting to fall a bit quicker, if it continues to get occasional big boosts (X Factor? :P) that might become a million seller at some point as well maybe?

On an unrelated note:

 74. Right There (feat. Big Sean) - Ariana Grande

Ariana to get 2 new top 75/100 hits this week then? This one is the instant grat track on her album pre-order.

Right There is a really good song. I prefer it over her 2nd US single, Baby I (although it's also good).

Well I never knew that :o

And what a song! 1.16 million copies sold but yes never higher than #9.

I believe that Macy Gray's "I Try" was the highest selling #6 record before "Chasing Cars" (Maybe biggest selling Top 10 hits that didn't make the Top 5 between 1990 and 2013 is an idea for a Gezza countdown thread). :P

I bought it for 99p too, but oh well. For Emeli. <3

And yes, that needs to happen. Sean Paul isn't even relevant (unless he's longside The Saturdays). :smoke:

My inner chart geek would love to know the highest-selling song for each position in the UK top 40. 1-5 are probably really easy to find out but anything beneath is a mystery. I take it 'Set Fire To The Rain' or 'I'm Yours' is the highest selling #11.

The highest selling #7 has to be LeAnn Rimes "How Do I Live" - an absolutely massive chart run for that one in the high selling late nineties era too.

I think I'm Yours is for the #11.

I'd honestly be interested for every position in the top 200. I suspect most of the ones lower down would be from the past few years. And it would also be interesting to know the best-selling song that never charted (I think there was a thread on that a while ago).

I'm sure I saw a thread on this around here somewhere a while ago, I'll see if I can find it, or maybe someone else can?

Does the 1.16 million copies of 'Blue Monday' not include the remix sales?

Surely it must do, as re-releases and remixes are normally classified under the same song.
