I always forget how stale the charts were in 2008, literally one song joining the top ten each week if we were lucky. Polluted with crap too towards the top.
September 8, 201312 yr wooo for Bootie Call, by far my fav All Saints track :D Crush  as for Five, my favs are Let's Dance, Slam Dunk Da Funk, When The Lights Go Out and Everybody Get Up :D My least favs are probably Got The Feelin' and We Will Rock You.
September 8, 201312 yr Noticing that Katy will be getting her fourth #1 exactly 5 years after her first, it's weird how much Katy has progressed as an artist. I bet many wrote her off as a one-hit-wonder when 'I Kissed A Girl' came out. She's become child-friendly since 2010.
September 8, 201312 yr 10 years since Dido was 'relevant' You people don't know what you're missing. And Pink blatantly had the best song in last year's top 3. That top 2 is pretty terrible.
September 8, 201312 yr All Saints were so hit and miss, Never Ever, Pure Shores and Black Coffee were flawless but Bootie Call and Lady Marmalade were complete crap. Bootie Call was also absolute FILTH. Being 9, I didn't 'get' the song at the time. A lot of songs from back then, I completely missed the meaning. Running around the playground shouting lyrics to Mousse T's Horny and Vengaboys' Boom Boom Boom Boom seems pretty wrong to me now
September 8, 201312 yr To anyone genuinely surprised that Iron Maiden got a top 10 hit 10 years ago - they went on to get three further top 5 hits between 2005 and 2007. I miss Iron Maiden's massive fanbase single buys. Their lead singer works as a pilot when he not Maidening, you know. It was quite the week for classic rock this week 10 years ago as The Rolling Stones had a New Entry in the chart at #14 with Sympathy For The Devil. It must of been a re-issue for some reason and The White Stripes were new at #13 with their version of I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself. Edited September 8, 201312 yr by gavindeejay
September 8, 201312 yr It was quite the week for classic rock this week 10 years ago as The Rolling Stones were also in the chart with a new entry at #14 with Sympathy For The Devil. It must of been a re-issue for some reason and The White Stripes were new at #13 with their version of I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself. I think the Sympathy for the Devil rerelease was to promote a Greatest Hits compilation (40 Licks if I recall correctly). I do miss the time when classic bands could get a song back into the chart merely by pressing it as a single, although downloads kind of killed that off.
September 8, 201312 yr Public Enemy aside, that was a really terrible top 10 from last year. 2008 the only one of those top 10s I like more than three songs in.
September 8, 201312 yr What made the Elton John track so popular in 2003? Was it a remix of some sort??
September 8, 201312 yr Hello Buzzjackers! First time listening to the chart show for 2 weeks. Fun fact of the day: The song titles of today's possible top 3 are all verbs (Roar, Burn, Wake Me Up). Anyway here are my retro faves. 2012 1- LET ME LOVE YOU (UNTIL YOU LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF)- Ne-Yo (88,784) What a shame that has already been forgotten by most of the general public. :( 4- WINGS- Little Mix (59,355) 5- BOM BOM- Sam & The Womp (47,776) 6- GOOD TIME- Owl City Ft Carly Rae Jepsen (39,139) 8- WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER- Taylor Swift (34,655) 9- HOW WE DO (PARTY)- Rita Ora (34,328) 10- SOME NIGHTS- Fun (30,208) 2008 1- I KISSED A GIRL- Katy Perry (46,293) 2- PJANOO- Eric Prydz (31,058) 3- WHEN I GROW UP- Pussycat Dolls (29,688) 4- DISTURBIA- Rihanna (24,454) 6- BEGGIN- Madcon (18,300) 9- DANCE WIV ME- Dizzee Rascal Ft Calvin Harris (12,200) This hasn't changed much recently  2003 1- WHERE IS THE LOVE?- Black Eyed Peas (94,308) 3- ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE?- Elton John (34,000) 5- BREATHE- Blu Cantrell Ft Sean Paul (24,000)* 1998 5- IF YOU TOLERATE THIS YOUR CHILDREN WILL BE NEXT- Manic Street Preachers (68,000)* 8- MUSIC SOUNDS BETTER WITH YOU- Stardust (54,000)*
September 8, 201312 yr Me retros: UGH how bad was the chart this time last year, GROSS! I'm only including Fun. as I liked it at the time, but this year put me right off him and made me realise his vocals hurt my ears. HATE!!! all other songs, especially 3. ) 5- BOM BOM- Sam & The Womp (47,776) 6- GOOD TIME- Owl City Ft Carly Rae Jepsen (39,139) 10- SOME NIGHTS- Fun (30,208) 2008 really bad as well. 2008 1- I KISSED A GIRL- Katy Perry (46,293) 3- WHEN I GROW UP- Pussycat Dolls (29,688) 2003 http://i44.tinypic.com/s3m14p.jpghttp://i42.tinypic.com/206oknq.jpghttp://i41.tinypic.com/2jepl05.jpg 1- WHERE IS THE LOVE?- Black Eyed Peas (94,308) 2- WHITE FLAG- Dido (79,000) 5- BREATHE- Blu Cantrell Ft Sean Paul (24,000)*      10- MISS INDEPENDENT- Kelly Clarkson (14,000)* Though perhaps 1998 was the worst  Though no.3 of 2012 is enough for me never to want to hear that top 10 again... 1998 http://i39.tinypic.com/s5ipkw.jpghttp://i40.tinypic.com/whk3rd.jpghttp://i41.tinypic.com/2n7qzdc.jpg 1- BOOTIE CALL- All Saints (116,000) Retro sales courtesy of MW*denotes an estimate thanks to Gezza Bootie Call is such a non-event of a song up to the other All Saints number 1s. White Flag and Where Is The Love though - what an amazing 2003 top 2! Right! QUOTE(gooddelta @ Sep 8 2013, 03:38 PM) * All Saints were so hit and miss, Never Ever, Pure Shores and Black Coffee were flawless but Bootie Call and Lady Marmalade were complete crap. THIS!
September 8, 201312 yr What made the Elton John track so popular in 2003? Was it a remix of some sort?? It was released on Fatboy Slim's record label, but contrary to belief at the time, it was not a remix. It was heavily played on the radio, and was used in a high-profile advert for Sky Sports, which contributed to its success.
September 8, 201312 yr Hi all! I've prepared a post for the top 5 albums and new entries from 6-40, hopefully nothing will creep up on that and throw me off.

Like their desert-born stadium rock contemporaries the Killers, Imagine Dragons blend engaging, synth-based dance-pop with emotionally charged, Brit-pop-inspired alt-rock. After releasing a pair of well-received EPs (Imagine Dragons and Hell and Silence), the group inked a deal with Interscope Records and headed into West Hollywood's famed Westlake Recording Studios with producer Alex Da Kid (Eminem, Paramore) to record its first major-label release, 2012's Continued Silence EP, which was followed later that year by the group's full-length debut, Night Visions. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): 2012 37 Hear Me EP -1- 2012 12 Radioactive -2- 2013 23 It's Time -3- 2013 34 On Top Of The World -AT- 2013 75 Demons -AT- Album Discussion Here

September 8, 201312 yr 'Sympathy For The Devil' was remixed though. In fact there was a remix by Fatboy Slim, but the lead track was by Pharrell. It was also crap. Not technically a re-issue though, it had never been a UK single before.
