Spice Girls weren't doing something unusual to everyone else though... CD1/CD2/Tape was standard practice. Any single released by any act from the physical era could be accused of being based on "multi-buys", if fans snapped up all versions. However, considering the Spice Girls consistently went Platinum, a huge amount of their sales would have been made up of casual purchases of just one format.

Sorry to go off topic, but I have to answer this

I remember I used to buy every format for a PSB track, for example, Domino Dancing, on cassette single, 7inch, 12inch, CD1 and CD2 (on 5 different formats) etc etc etc for every single of theirs' going. I was a mad PSB fan   And I still collect their CD singles, got a huge PSB collection, that reminds me PSB latest physical single is out this week, "goes and buys" :D

It's probably another one of those hypocritcal things, multi-formatting is great when it is your favourite artists doing it, and the root of all evil when someone you don't like does it.

Oops at that fall for Tristan. I don't know why they haven't merged it with the second version of 'Can We Dance' at #39, though? It seems that's what they've done with the other versions, cause they can't have just VANISHED.

I don't think anything can be and will be merged on iTunes. Tracks only get deleted but the sales (or popularity) doesn't get merged with the remaining versions. ;)

So are they combined number 1, even without factoring in the EP and their physical sales?

So pleased for Nelly! Especially since it wasn't looking likely to do anything until R1 decided to playlist it a few weeks ago

Oh and look at that, it seems Nicki is likely to get another top 20 hit officially! :kink:

EDIT: So just listened to The Vamps... they look about 12 and they're singing about "talking a lot of shit when they're drinking" :\ That's going to look good on soceity, isn't it?

The Vamps have released so many versions, but they didn't release an explicit one. :(

We have yet to start that campaign. YOU WITH ME? :kink:

Can't tell at the moment, kworb's latest update is incorrect. Wouldn't be surprised if they were #1 in the midweeks though with all the fanbase buys

Aww! :D I really miss the days of all those physical formats - used to love collecting them. Nowadays it's just one CD, if lucky. :( I don't get the same buzz downloading a digital track (or any buzz at all tbh)!

I wonder how many people will but all 10 versions of The Vamps?

2,000 fans doing so equates to 20,000 sales

2,000 buying 5 = 10,000

5,000 buying 2 = 10,000

5,000 physical bundles available and 1,200 copies available at the HMV event = 6,200

Might give them an early midweek #1 but possibly not enough to keep them there? Depends how many are muti buying I guess!

MMMBop for no.1 please, your faves could nevah.
