Tamera was fantastic, if she is consistently this good then I'm definitely backing her to win.

The two male groups REALLY surprised me today, the vocals, harmonies and stage presence were fantastic.

Miss Dynamix however I was really disappointed in after LOVING them at Judges Houses :( Oh and I just can't get into Shelley - too much of a warbler and just SO cringe and cheesy.

I bet Buzzjack rejoiced when Gary said this was his last year....

But yeah anyway, overall I really enjoyed tonight's show!

Having a Destiny's Child moment so:

~ QUESTION ~ Tell me what you think about the deadlock situation. How will that work if the judges are tied two votes each? Surely the pointless FLASH (A-AH) thing kinda undermines that somewhat.

I listened back to all the performances and Abi's rendition of Living On A Prayer is really growing on me?!? :o :/ Might download it on iTunes along with Tamera, Sam, Hannah and Lorna!

I don't think they've yet established whether the act with the lowest votes on the Saturday night would be sent home in that situation or the act with the lowest votes on the Sunday night. I'm presuming it would be the act with the lowest on Sunday seeing as they had nearly 24 hours to vote for them, but there has to be a more logical reasoning than that, surely?

I'm quite shocked at the response to Rough Copy's performance on here. I know they weren't really liked on here before and the judges comments on them being the best group ever were extremely ott/premature but I'm sturggling to see how they can be considered worse than some of the other monstrosities based purely on tonight's performance and not their personalities etc.

I didn't expect to like them at all really but watching the performance again and it's most definitely the highlight with Sam B from what I can hear

^ I just found it SO SO SO vapid, they seemed to put nothing into it :/ In the same way you're baffled by the response, I'm absolutely baffled by anybody thinking it was 'amazing' or 'world class' as Nicole said!

And Calum - It would be unfair either way :/ Maybe they'll do it as a percentage of the vote? But that would again be unfair, it would be harder (only slightly but still) to get a larger % out of 12 votes than it would of 11, especially with only 10 minutes. I assumed that Simon would get a final say over video link or something, but they would have announced and milked that by now... Or will they open the voting after the sing-off and use those votes for the 'deadlock'?

Yeah I suppose so. I don't think Simon will be involved. As you say, if he was getting the casting vote in any way they would have promoted the shit out of that, and made a deal of it. I can't see them resorting to seeing how the 'Fifth Judge' responses went either (working out a percentage from that), because that would be a bit sneaky. It's basically quite a fuck up. I could see them maybe opening the phone lines for a short time like they did with tonight's Flash Vote and then whoever has the lowest amount of votes from that goes home, but that's just dragging the show out EVEN LONGER. :(

Also they barely managed to squeeze everything into the live shows as they were, let alone with an added few minutes for voting :drama: Maybe they'll remove group performances to add a few minutes for those. But it all seems such a mess just to accommodate the flash vote :drama: I guess we'll see tomorrow!

But isn't Shelley's phone line closed now? So she won't get any votes for Sunday. Unless it is still open. But even then, that's very unfair. People finding out she's going to be bottom 2 due to flash voting won't bother voting for her on Sunday.

Unless they result to the X-factor app maybe?

No, you're right, Shelley's phone line will no longer be active, but what I was meaning was will they really be so stupid to have the person with the lowest votes on the Saturday as a result of the Flash Vote (aka Shelley) go home if it were a deadlock situation, and not the person who received the fewest votes on the Sunday?

Please don't worry about deadlock in this situation. Shelley has already 3 votes to go. If Lorna is in the bottom 2, Shelley will receive 4 votes to go. :kink:

By the way, Lorna or Miss Dynamix will join her in the sing-off. :kink:

Rough Copy's performance was technically very good. Credit where credit is due, I don't think any X Factor boy band from previous series were ever as vocally tight as that, far less so in the Week 1 Live Show. The thing is, there's something about them that I find off-putting; I'm really struggling to warm to them. :( Is it their atrocious style? POSSIBLY.

I think people are being pretty harsh towards Miss Dynamix? :( I concede that they weren't outstanding, but I thought they were more than competent, considering the song choice. 'Jump' is probably one of the most dated/cheesy sounding choices out of the 12. I think these girls just need to be given a "special" song; something more in line with All Saints/Sugababes/TLC is where I see them musically - not The Pointer Sisters. An 80s theme was unfortunate for them. I fully believe that the potential is there for them to pull a showstopping performance out of the bag at some point. Little Mix didn't get into their stride until week 4 [E.T.] and their *moment* wasn't until week 7 ['Dont Let Go (Love')]. I hope the public gives Miss Dynamix time to grow.

Kingsland Road are lame and their collective exuberance is irritating. I had to lol at Gary's "there's nothing like you guys on the market" comment. :kink:

I'm not sure why I felt compelled to comment on the groups category alone, but there we go. x

I have just caught up with this thread/finished X Factor myself not too long ago... some people on here. Wow. Slightly harsh for me, but I guess that's the beauty of differing opinions. I will comment on the performances when I wake up later, but from this first live show, I actually didn't think anyone was "awful". There were a few performances that were bland and forgettable to me, but nothing like previous years. I think this might be the most consistently strong year for talent since 2008's for me. I'm interested to see where certain other acts go and there is SO MUCH potential.
With the deadlock situation, they said lines would be FROZEN for the flash vote, not closed, so surely all votes will be carried forward? That means there won't be any issue as it's all the same poll still.

But Shelley would surely automatically end up with the lowest amount of votes given people voted for her in under ten minutes (or rather DIDN'T vote for her), whereas the person who receives the fewest votes overnight will not only have more than Shelley, but will also have had a longer time to receive them...?

From what I saw it was very average last night.

The producers have thrown Miss Dynamix under a train, not that it's their fault really. Bit silly that you could have a woman seven months pregnant performing on the X Factor final. They're definitely gone within the next 2-3 weeks.

Sam was awful, missed his timings. Kingsland Road were very average. I expect Rough Copy will pick up the 'cool' vote like James Arthur did.

Looking at a Sam(female)/Tamera win though tbf.

Ugh at Cher!

I hope Ellie sings a new song tonight!
