It Was Always You should be no.1 though...

I doubt Maroon 5 will ever have another #1 tbh but I do agree with this.

I can see Maps entering at about 6 on sales but maybe 9/10 on streaming. That's unless it gets high on Spotify which it probably won't.

Although one would think 'Moves Like Jagger' and the #1 that happened afterwards as a result is a once in a career occurrence, I learned never to say never with Maroon 5 after that.

89. My Song 5 (feat. A$AP Ferg) - HAIM

Didn't notice this cracking the top 100. Really annoyed R1 didn't support this as it could have been another top 40 hit for them (at least on sales) but it's not even going to make the top 100 now (apart from possibly on sales only again). :(

Looking at it objectively, I don't like the song but I don't think they've done too badly for themselves to make their reinvigorated success last after 'Moves Like Jagger' gave them a fluke comeback at a time when things were looking very dark indeed for them.

'It Was Always You' is a million times better than this though, and it still hugely bothers me that 'Daylight' flopped as it did here.

'Maps' is a shameless rip off of 'Every Breath You Take'.

Maroon 5's best three songs are 'This Love', 'She Will Be Loved' and 'Payphone'.

I would swap Moves Like Jagger for Payphone - I was never keen on the latter.

DONE DEAL ? :)

Payphone?! Every single song on "Songs About Jane" is better than that monstrosity.

Payphone was one of the worst songs of 2012, certainly their worst.

This Love is their best but I love Wake Up Call, Misery, Moves Like Jagger, One More Night, She Will Be Loved and Makes Me Wonder

Maroon 5's last album was a dip in quality but they were cashing in on the success of Moves Like Jagger. And why shouldn't they? All their awesome music was being ignored so why not be sell outs for a bit?
Maroon 5's dip was in the middle, I loved their early stuff & I loved their latest stuff. This Love, Harder To Breathe, One More Night & Payphone are my faves. Maps is good too.
This is a bit premature but I'd say 'It Was Always You' is already up there as one of my favourite Maroon 5 songs! 'This Love', 'She Will Be Loved', 'Wake Up Call', 'Misery' and 'Harder to Breathe' are also pretty good. I've had to endure years of hearing their music in the car because they're my brothers favourite band! But admittedly yeah they do actually have quite a few good songs in their repertoire.

"Maps" is clearly underperforming but it's not a flop by any means.

It's not like "Payphone" was a number one hit everywhere either, let's not act like they're the biggest contemporary band.

For me their best songs remain: Harder To Breathe, This Love, Makes Me Wonder, Wake Up Call and One More Night.

Daylight is simply dire and should have flopped harder.

I've just been looking through the February 2009 iTunes thread as I didn't know if 'Love Story' ever reached #1 on iTunes. Reading through the thread, I didn't realise what a mess the release was - Ethan's comment here summed it up!

Taylor Swift’s record company has completely lost the plot with the release of Love Story! The digital release date is in a state of constant motion with some sites selling it, others not. Then there are versions of it being randomly added and removed. Whatever happened to picking a release date, sticking to it, adding the track to all the sites and leaving it on them?

Taylor ended up getting within about 5% of iTunes #1 (which was 'Use Somebody') before 'My Life Would Suck Without You' which was released a day early but not constantly added and removed like 'Love Story' was managed to overtake the pair of them just before Taylor overtook Kings of Leon!

With this knowledge, I'm so glad Taylor has got to #1 now as it would've been so gutting if 'Shake It Off' got that close without actually managing it!
