Taylor Swift on Tuesday launched a free app that places fans directly into her "Blank Space" music video's mansion setting, allowing them to explore the storyline's environment through an immersive 360-degree experience. The app, for iOS and Android, lets fans dive deeper into Swift's fictitious world in which she transforms into a jealous lover who violently chases her fearful boyfriend away. By tapping on their screens or moving their devices in any direction, users of the "American Express Unstaged Taylor Swift Blank Space Experience App" can follow characters (Taylor, Sean, butler, gardener), explore rooms within the mansion and play with objects — all while the plot unfolds as it normally does in the regular music video, which premiered Monday. "The app is a cross between theater, a music video and a video game," Joseph Kahn, who directed both the video and the app experience told Mashable. "I had to direct it more like a stage show than a music video so the audience can choose any way they want to look; we had to create reasons for them to turn their head or look up or look down." Swift has hidden 41 objects for users to collect within the app such as the smartphone housing the text message (below) that got Swift upset or a pair of binoculars to get a closer look at Swift and her love interest near the tree. Users can share each item across social media to help other fans locate every item. The is app simple to use (Mashable tested it days before it launched) and people won't need much time to figure out what to do. Doors will glow to help navigate users. "Let's keep in mind that all of this technology is great, but ultimately there's a story," said Kahn, who has directed videos for Madonna, Rihanna, Britney Spears and others. "That's the key, that's what makes it interesting is that we're tracking the story of her and this guy going on this great date and then her going psychotic. We're a fly on the wall." In addition to the interactive experience, developed by Radical Media, users can watch additional behind-the-scenes footage and purchase Swift's 1989 album or tour tickets. "Blank Space" is the second single from 1989, her fifth studio album that sold 1.287 million copies in its debut week amid controversy of her removing her music from Spotify.

November 14, 201410 yr Another brilliant song from her, glad this is the next single rather than the fairly generic Welcome to New York, plus this has a great video to match. I never thought this more...attitude-filled (for want of a better word) approach in her songs would work with her and come across as try-hard considering her past material, but this coming after Shake It Off, sounds convincing without being try hard.
November 14, 201410 yr Really have fallen in love with this today! One of her best for me! So much better than Shake It Off! Really hope with an X Factor performance (She'll probably perform again in the final like Rihanna has done in previous years) would be nice to see this go to Number 1.
November 14, 201410 yr This has really been growing on me this week. On first listen of the album, I thought it sounded very much like an album track from any of her previous albums but the music video has really sold it for me as well as reading the lyrics of the chorus ("got a long list of ex lovers / they'll tell you I'm insane") which I struggled to interpret beforehand. I'd love a UK #1 for her finally but it's already looking to continue her top ten successes which is great anyway!
