November 18, 201411 yr I bet a few of these will find their way back into the top 40, especially Prayer In C and Sing. They just aren't ready to leave yet :D There's still the weekend effect to come.
November 18, 201411 yr Band Aid 30 will undoubtedly slow down a lot (if not this week then certainly in the next couple of weeks, I don't think it will get 4 consecutive weeks at #1 because it's going to burn too many of its sales this week but it will start increasing again with the physical release and as Christmas approaches). However, there's no getting around just how spectacular that first day sale is. Not like it even had masses of pre-orders, it was only put up for pre-order a couple of days before release! I hope it can beat the first week sales of 'Wherever You Are'. Who do you think will knock Band Aid 30 off top spot in the 4th week?
November 18, 201411 yr For reference, 'Midnight Memories' had sold 115k by the Tuesday update. Delighted to see their sales in comparison are down quite dramatically this time around.
November 18, 201411 yr In all fairness, 1D are doing pretty great considering this album has yet to have a smash hit single from it like What Makes You Beautiful, Little Things or Story of My Life. Steal My Girl hasn't been anywhere near as big as any of them, so it's not a shock that their sales are down really. Will still be exceptional sales, very few artists can sell as much as they can with albums these days!
November 18, 201411 yr It's hard to tell how well Take That will open, interestingly they're only third favourites for Xmas No.1 album, behind Ed Sheeran and One Direction. The hype around this album is the lowest it's probably been since their debut album, but that said I'm sure it can manage 150k at least. Then maybe Ed will ramp up to bag the Xmas No.1 but it's already sold quite a bit this year...but then didn't Emeli Sande get the Xmas No.1 album in 2012 after being around for much longer beforehand?
November 18, 201411 yr Author Please can I have shake it off, blank space and 1989 positions? 'Blank Space' at #11, 'Shake It Off' at #17 and 1989 at #8. :D In all fairness, 1D are doing pretty great considering this album has yet to have a smash hit single from it like What Makes You Beautiful, Little Things or Story of My Life. Steal My Girl hasn't been anywhere near as big as any of them, so it's not a shock that their sales are down really. Agreed, I wasn't expecting them to clear 200k by the end of the week and it doesn't seem it will be that way either. Getting the second highest sales of the year seems likely though.
November 18, 201411 yr Who do you think will knock Band Aid 30 off top spot in the 4th week? I don't think they'll necessarily even make it to 3 weeks. Their lead is going to start being closed very rapidly quite soon, there is no way they can sustain sales anywhere near this high for very long. That said, there don't seem to be any particularly huge releases in the next few weeks so maybe they will just hold on.

Their lead is going to start being closed very rapidly quite soon, there is no way they can sustain sales anywhere near this high for very long. But I don't see any clear challengers in the next month or so (going on the New Release Schedule)? So they might not have to sell much to remain #1. *Pending Rihanna/Adele OA/OS release*
November 18, 201411 yr Getting the second highest sales of the year seems likely though. Does it? I can't see them doing 168k+ if they 'only' sold 75k so far. Perhaps my estimate is conservative but I would have thought more around the 145-150k mark. Last year they only just doubled their Tuesday figure and I could see them being a little more front-loaded this time. Whatever it is though it'll be a very impressive result at this stage in their career.

I keep forgetting Coldplay's first week sales were that big! :P Your estimate does seem right logically, I just felt a 90k drop in first week sales seemed too big.

Getting the second highest sales of the year seems likely though. Blank Space is doing pretty good at #11 tbh despite stream lacking. And Shake It Off seems to be taking its toll for how well it spent in the top 5 :o I don't think they'll necessarily even make it to 3 weeks. Their lead is going to start being closed very rapidly quite soon, there is no way they can sustain sales anywhere near this high for very long. That said, there don't seem to be any particularly huge releases in the next few weeks so maybe they will just hold on. I reckon if it sells 500k ish it'll probably sell about 150k ish next week, and unless there's a competitive single the week after it'll be #1 a third week at about 80k.
November 18, 201411 yr Oh my god! Those sales are crazy! I'm glad it's raising money for a great cause but its by far the best of the new releases this week... 11 new entries in the top 40 :o feels like I've gone back to 2000!! I hope all of these hold up but even if only 8/9 hang on I'll be ok with that :puke: at 1D being number one :drama:
November 18, 201411 yr Has Tom Odell fallen out of the top 10? He has, yes. Unlikely to climb back in, he's got about a 3.5K deficit on #10 and may climb back in - but fairly unlikely I'd have thought.

November 18, 201411 yr Really impressive that 1D have kept up the momentum on the 4th album. Last year's sales were incredible, I don't think they'll ever match that, but if they're still managing the sales they are it doesn't really matter.
November 18, 201411 yr Sorry to sound impatient but am I able to ask where Happy is atm? I've seen other requests and I don't think asking for anything beyond #40 breaks the rules  Edited November 18, 201411 yr by SPINNING ADAM
