yeah I reckon this

I've watched a few of her performances online and think she's one of the best singers I've seen on X factor but when I heard her winners song on the radio it literally just passed me by. doesn't show off her vocals and the song is dull at best. I think the fact that the viewing figures are way down obviously doesn't help but if she'd released something like don't let go by en vogue as an example top of my head then I'm sure she's be selling a lot more.

i'm pretty sure you just want don't let go everywhere

sasha go hard why they mad 2k16

Adele....her Album sales for the first 2 days of this week would have easily been enough for her to be number one in any week this year before her album was released. And noone else has had more than 2 consecutive weeks at the top this year.
Justin Bieber has already gone back to the top of ITunes charts ahead of Louisa Johnson........ wouldn't be surprised if Stormzy and 1D overtake her too.

I love the Louisa song but as a debut single, it's easy to see why it's struggling so much. I'm sure she'll be able to prove herself with her album.

Louisa got 43,000 streams yesterday...... is that 4,300 sales then or 430?

either way not going to do much for her at all....

MAYBE Louisa will be able to do about 10k on CD, that will bring the total to maybe 50k? Judging on last week it would take her to about #4 - #7.
Even if Louisa does climb to #1 next week, the trouble is is that streaming has taken the bloom off the significance of having a Christmas #1. It used to be that every major pop act released stuff in December or a couple of weeks before with the aim of getting a Christmas number one, and that's what made it exciting and newsworthy. Like I remember when the whole Bob the Builder beating Westlife battle happened at Christmas 2000 and it was even on News at 10. Unless your name is Justin Bieber and/or some random DJ with a faceless dance act with big Spotify support you're getting nowhere near the top these days. There is no battle to have because of the ratio streaming occupies these days, and it'll stay that way until it's more accessible.

Oh yes of course. The verdict on why x thing in the charts isn't as good as it used to be: f***ING STREAMING!!!1

Does it not occur to you that 'major pop acts' ARE the people that dominate on streaming?

I thought Louisa would have at least had #2 on lock - that could be 'forgiveable', but the press are going to have even more of a field day if it completely missed the Top 5.

I'm really happy this suggests the end of X Factor domination of the Xmas #1 and the idea that slow ballads in the same format are what the public want to hear/are a good reflection of the singer, but, even though I think Louisa just has a good voice, I hope it doesn't mean she'll get dragged down with the show because she deserves at least better than that.

I just think it's doing so badly because it's possibly the worst X-Factor song choice (IMO) it's bland boring and not relevant to anything, not to mention it doesn't have a strong core message at least not one people can relate to like other X-Factor songs.

It's nothing to do with Louisa as an artist at all or the fact that X-Factor is in decline, it's simply because it just wasn't a very emotional song that the audience could 'share the winning moment with her'

'Skyscraper' and 'Cannonball' were far worse song choices than 'Forever Young'.

If Stevie McCrorie peaks higher than Lousia...

Some chance Stevie will actually end up outselling her! (Although in fairness, Stevie had a full week (I think) - I'm sure Louisa will at least beat him with her first 7 days of sales).

Completely disagree. Both of the original songs went top 10 in the charts after performances earlier in the series? (I mean 'Skyscraper' IS an awful song choice, but it was a good choice in the context of XF winner's singles).

The X Factor winners single is a charity single and has been for a few years. Would it really be so bad if it got the Christmas No. 1?

I will agree that it's not the best choice of song though, and I'd have preferred an original song. The last time they had an original winners song was in 2005 and that sold 742k in a week (a different sales climate but still).

A mid-top 10 winners single and further (potential) success with the post-XF single and album is probably better than a Christmas #1 which sells 500k and the post-XF single and album barely making the top 10.

In recent years the viewing figures didn't have an impact - in 2012 12.8m viewers watched James Arthur win, and he sold 490k in a week which is more than Joe and Matt despite more viewers watching them. However, 9.9m watched Louisa win and I think that's generally too low to have an impact. 12.8m is still a pretty big number, and for a light entertainment show 9.9m isn't so bad either compared to most other shows on television. The only other shows this year to beat that are Strictly Come Dancing, The Great British Bake Off, EastEnders and Britain's Got Talent. It just compared badly to what it managed 5 years ago, but those numbers aren't sustainable.

I also think Cannonball/Skyscraper did worst cos the originals had charted a few weeks earlier after being sung by other contestants...

wonder if all these people criticising Forever Young have even heard the original version which is upbeat and pretty decent
