Can anyone explain why Stormzy has had a sudden surge of songs in the iTunes chart?

Yeah I think this is a good point - winning singles haven't exactly correlated with post-show success. Leona's winning single, whilst it did well, is "only" the fourth or fifth biggest single I believe? Yet her success after the show was off the scale. On the other hand, James Arthur did nowhere near as well as his winning single with anything from his album. It's not over for Louisa yet.

Oh you're right, but at the same time, You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You was far from a big smash and Recovery didn't do that well either :heehee:

Am I right in thinking he diminished his reputation shortly before 'Recovery's release/his performance of it on X-Factor?

Correct it was post you're Nobody and pre Recovery as he apologised after the XF performance. But I think the comments and press was rumbling on for months

I also remember You're Nobody.. taking massive dives in the chart as he ruined his reputation, so it did happen quite early on in his post-Impossible career

CR: {2}-9-10-30-41-65-63-69R(3)->8

It also didn't help that the song itself wasn't very good.

Interesting, I always thought You're Nobody... had done better than that. Many X Factor winners careers have imploded soon after winning the show, yet with James Arthur we actually got to see happen. He was someone who I believe *could* have made it had he had a completely different personality.
18 k isn't bad considering the circumstances

Under what circumstances? :unsure:

Yeah I don't think there's any defending just how dreadfully Louisa has done so far. Yes there were lower viewing figures etc. etc. but even considering that, less than 20k first day is atrocious. I guess it is a valid point that the song choice hasn't clicked and won't be representative of her future output (which I expect will do much better). But this particular song is really not doing well by any stretch of the imagination.

So where are we expecting Louisa to land on the chart and with how much sold going by what we know so far?

She still has physicals going on sale tomorrow right? Will those be factored into her final sales that will posted next week/ end of this week?

I'm hoping this doesn't detour Simon/ Louisa from creating a good debut that could potentially have some success. Her voice is incredible.

It's a shame that she got two days less sales as well.
