It's always better to make your own decisions.

Yes, we had input into the EU's decisions, but if we were outvoted by the other countries, we were stuck with them, regardless of whether they benefited us or not.

That would be all fine and dandy if the UK were good at making any decisions at all. Look at the last General Election.

I think this is a fairly good indication of the fall out of this vote north of the border:

The Daily Record is the paper responsible for "The Vow" (that thing some within the 45% use as a swearword) and is now backing Sturgeon on indyref2. That is a pretty big turn around in 2 years.

We're off, the United Kingdom is done. When even the main anti-independence, anti-SNP tabloid is backing indyref2 you know the Act of Union is f***ed. Record is the Scottish version of the Mirror (which also sells here) but reaches more than twice as many people as The Sun does with an audience of 3.1m vs 1.4m.

My social media feed in 2016 (especially when compared to 2014) suggests that the UK is fucked but I accept that my social media feed is full of young students who voted Remain, a large number of whom are from the rest of Europe and so not particularly representative. But when a newspaper that at best could be described as 'middle-market' changes its tune in the same vein as my Facebook feed, it feels a lot more real.

Weren't we outvoted about 58 times in 40 years? And that's including the 1000s of votes we won.

It's funny now, as we're going to have to accept EU laws with no say now unless we want to continue to commit economic suicide.

The EU has a stressful couple of months coming up:

Firstly there is the potential for Greece to default on its €2.3bn debt payment due on 20th July (to the ECB)

Then there is Deutsche Bank, which is at risk of collapse and is bigger than Lehman Bros (about 2.5 times bigger) - that collapse precipitated the entire global credit meltdown of 2008.

More people voted for Brexit that voted for the Conservatives, does that mean we should hold another general election and kick them out? :D

I know this is not related to the Referendum but I think we all need something to laugh at right now and cheer ourselves up so have a look at this video

That is utter nonsense. On all issues of importance, we had a veto. We even exercised it on many occasions. Even when we were unable to stop things happening, we frequently negotiated an opt-out. The UK negotiated more opt-outs than any other member country. I happen to think that is more a matter for shame, but it allowed UK governments to act in what they thought was the country's interest while still benefitting from EU membership.

Sorry if this has been brought up before but ffs this is hilarious.

The rap is the best. :')

I struggle to have sympathy, when these people that I know moan who are the same people that bunked off school and tried to make many others (including myself) stop learning in school. The poor have been manipulated in to believing that leaving the EU will make them better off, that in itself is horrible. It is selfish of me, but I also know it is in the best interests of my country to stay in the EU. The under 30s are the ones who are going to suffer the most (yet again).

The comment about people at your school is one that has so many debates of why that there's no point in starting a discussion.

This has filled my heart with SO MUCH JOY

It's almost as if people were voting based on being fed lies. Now wouldn't that be something.

Young people should be kicking and screaming.

If young people were so bothered about staying in then why didn't more get out of bed and or off their tablets/laptops and vote. Most exams are over now. My daughter didn't vote and is moaning that the result is wrong. Erm, hello but you can't moan about it if you don't get off your bum to vote.

To the few people here who voted leave.

What specific pieces of EU legislation were you so against?

The ones that protect workers rights, with regards to holiday, maternity leave and health and safety? The ones that make sure the seas don't get over fished? The one that allows you to travel freely across large parts of Europe?

None. Ch4 News spoke to an old guy in my home town of Barnsley (live down in East London now) which voted 71-29 out. He said "It's all about the immigrants" and I agree with that. I never considered anything else.

I can't answer that. I don't believe anyone that is eligible to vote that does not physically vote has the right to moan about anything. I did vote, so I can moan! I can't accept the result, but I just want the potential nightmare to be over now. But clearly young people were bothered about staying in, well, at least those that voted!

What I'm now worried about the most is the people who expected change straight away, and the people who will be disappointed that what was promised that doesn't happen (NHS, immigration, better wages), UKIP will just blame it on anyone but themselves. The biggest struggle of the next 5 years will be stopping anyone that's tempted by the nationalist movement.

There seems to be some confusion amongst some of the EU immigrants here. One Pole that I know from dog-walking asked me today."What do I do now. Do I have to go home? I have my own successful business here." Told him he won't have to go home at all. Seems to be a lot of misinformation going around.

I know things won't change straight away but at least when we're out we'll be able to have a points system for immigration like Australia does.
