good 'ol British public. An abomination like 'Closer' climbing high while 'Cool Girl' is falling

I think it will rebound soon, it's not even on radio yet.

This Chainsmokers/ DJ Snake domination in dance music on the itunes chart is like David Guetta and Calvin Harris at the start of the decade. Seems like these two acts are the new 'global dance acts' to follow on from David Guetta and Calvin Harris.

I preferred the fact a couple of years ago that the dance hits were mostly one hit wonders (Secondcity, Storm Queen etc.) rather than these big groups like The Chainsmokers dominating. Also like in the 90s and the 2000s these hits were only really popular in the UK wheras todays dance hits (Chainsmokers, Kungs, DJ Snake) are global.

In summary there are less UK only hits on the chart in dance and in other genres than any other year recently I think. There is less of a UK identity in the charts this year, most of it seems to be global pop and global dance. This is not a good thing I think.

Streaming was always going to bring together all the global markets, whilst I agree it means it's harder for UK acts to make a dent on the chart (as seen by the number who have had hits of the Sales Chart but not the Combined Chart) we don't miss out on the mega European dance smashes as frequently as before.

Songs like The Ocean would have done absolutely zilch here a few years back for example.

A fair bit of fluctuation in the Top 20 with several songs contending for a Top 20 hit eventually.

 94 Kungs/Jamie N Commons - Don't You Know

Great track - Hopefully they can get another hit with this.

 63. Ruth B. - Lost Boy

Thanks to a play on R1, I guess it's inevitable that this is going to become a hit, joy :nocheer:

It's so late, though. I would have expected it to have been and gone now - I first heard it back in 2015 and expected it to impact around January or February so to see it impacting now is quite remarkable.

It is quite boring though.

This is going to be huge, It reminds me of the style of 'Jar of Hearts'

41. Britney Spears - Clumsy

It's down to #46 for me? And Make Me and Private Show seemed to have disappeared?
