Can't believe Jax Jones looks like being a Top 10 hit soon, a welcome variation on the dominant 2016 dance trends.

Not really, its still a little bit tropical in a Clean Bandit sort of way (definitely not as much as most recent dance tracks though). Also it is still rather minimal too and has those infernal pitched voices. :(

So glad Tom Zanetti won't be a big hit, we definitely don't need that kind of dull bassline house back after it was so dominant in 2014 and early 2015 :)

OCC website says that Ed Sheeran will be the first act to enter at no.1 and no.2 with two new tracks. Does this mean that someone else has already done it with re-releases? I can't think of it happening before.

Come on Oops!! Hoping it can manage it this week after just missing out in the last chart. :cheer:

Really glad the Moana soundtrack is chart eligible. Great to follow its progress. Was a shame the Frozen soundtrack was only in the compilation chart

amazing to see JP, Starley & Jax all top 10, all quite good to very good songs & that Machine track is growing so hope that gets a chart play. It would be nice if Adele snuck back in without kicking LM out again & Sage to shoot in to keep the freshness going!

This is why I actually quite liked ADELE's strategy in regards to only having the singles being promoted at the time go on streaming services and then after things have calmed down a bit put the whole album up.

I imagine if 25 was available straight away to streaming she would have had quite a few top 40 entries for a while, which might have been overkill.

It also made it more rewarding to buy the album as you felt you were getting something extra than those who would have been listening to it for free via streaming.

No chance of Ed doing anything like that of course seeing as streaming has played a huge role in the overall success of X globally. Can't imagine he would restrict access to his music in any form.

Yeah i think that was perfect for Adele, but Ed will be available everywhere, and rightly so for Ed Sheeran. The marketing of this campaign is 10/10.

Official Singles/Albums Chart Update Top 100

Source: OCC

Missing Data: Spotify (Sunday), Apple Music (Sunday)

Top 100 Singles

1 Ed Sheeran - Shape of You (112.5k) *

2 Ed Sheeran - Castle on the Hill (102.6k) *

The OCC website says that the two Ed Sheeran tracks have clocked up just under 4 million streams each.

So, if we guesstimate that figure as 3.9 million each, that means the chart units shown above include 26,000 streaming points for each song. That gives a breakdown for each song so far as;

1. Shape Of You: 86,500 sales + 26,000 streaming points = 112,500 chart units

2. Castle On The Hill: 76,600 sales + 26,000 streaming points = 102,600 chart units

This means that Shape of You has already sold more than ANY number one last year, beating Lukas Graham's best week in just three days. Castle On The Hill has almost done it too (and will do easily before Thursday night).

As Hadji says above, the next sales target to beat is the 124,340 that A Bridge Over You sold, just over 12 months ago.

He will be the first artist to have new (or re-) entries at numbers one and two.

Be curious to see the sales with the old ratio just to see how far off Adele he would be it's easily going to be the fastest since her
Based on the sales information provided to date, i would not rule Little Mix out of staying at number 1 for another week.

The sales are still as shown, obviously, but, for the benefit of those who can't be bothered to work out the chart units, under the old 100:1 ratio, today's figures would be;

1. Shape Of You: 86,500 sales + 39,000 streaming points = 125,500 chart units

2. Castle On The Hill: 76,600 sales + 39,000 streaming points = 115,600 chart units

(Using the same assumption as above, that just under four million streams for each song so far is 3.9 million each.)

Adele was at 164.5K by the Monday in her release week (total: 332,599)

That suggests around 227K and 207K totals for Ed's singles - obviously large error bars around that.

I didn't mean now I mean at the end of the week

Oh and I bet it sucks to be Rag n Bone man would have finally peaked at number one this week poor guy
Really hope all those newies can cling on! And that Water Under the Bridge can keep its Top 40 position!

I think it will - there's streaming data missing and that's WUTB's strength atm.

Annoying that You Don't Know Me looking to go top 10 when the FAR superior RAYE track didn't make it...

5 new songs in the top 10 would be the first time that's happened since the week the Chart moved to a Friday I think?

I asked this earlier in the week - means literally enter at the top 2 spots whereas Justin has risen to the top 2/3 last year!

Yeh but the peak of Human was around Xmas week it would have been a non-No1 if it had of peaked this week at the top IMO!
