June 20, 20178 yr Lorde is the sort of artist who I expected to have strong album sales but not necessarily get any more hit singles, 'Green Light' did way better than I thought it would actually. Similar again to London Grammar, they didn't get any big hit singles this time but still had a much better opening week sale than their debut.
June 20, 20178 yr I think the problem with Lorde's marketability is her age. While the output is excellent, she's so 'young' for mature adults to consider taking seriously, while youngsters will on the whole struggle to relate. I think she'll continue to grow though over the years, keep pleasing the critics that's all she has to do.

I don't know, she is pretty popular with teenage girls and most of her things have lyrics that are quite relatable to young people. I don't think there's any doubt of who her target audience is or any issue with marketability. She does however wants to be taken seriously as an artist and not be seen as a "popstar" which is obvious by her promotion choices (Jools Holland; music magazine covers, etc). June 21, 20178 yr The charity single will have to sell 100k to comfortably make #1 - Despacito is set for 92k at the current rate which could be higher when all streams are factored in. I think it's going to have to settle for #2.
