She looks set to do better than Katy Perry though I guess :/

And the best link between Katy Perry and Lorde is that Lorde's Royals and Perry's Prism topped the charts in the same week. That gave me an opportunity to do an Oscar Wilde-themed chart commentary :D

Me against the music?

Oops, yes I missed that as she wasn't the lead artist. Plus it was an abomination of a record which I'd deliberately banished from my brain!

I'm just amazed that 5 After Midnight is still hanging on at #76, I thought they'd easily be out of the top 200 by now, even if I do like the song

That's shockingly low for Lorde! I genuinely thought she'd be at about 16k at least going by the hype! :\

Oh Katy! :( </3

I thought Lorde would do slightly better this time round, David Bowie described her as 'the future of music' and in fact the Album was apparently partly inspired by him. I do think over time she is set to become more of a credible Album artist than the likes of others that have flopped recently.
Lorde deserves so much better, truly an incredible album. At least she's carved out her niche as she seems to have a devoted fanbase.
Not surprised at Lorde doing a little worse than expected. "Green Light kinda came and went. It's a good album though so hopefully it'll stick around a while and sell decently!

I don't think Lorde is doing bad. I just expected her to have more but that doesn't mean it's doing bad. She should be set for about 16K which is still ok. Pretty similar to recent albums by Dua Lipa and Katy Perrry.
So which artist has had the most #2 hits??? I know Madonna has had 12.... anyone had any more?
Happy about Little Mix and Selena Gomez in that chart update. Hopefully both will manage to climb or remain stable until Friday.

When 'I Believe in You' debuted at #2 (Kylie's last #2 single), it was revealed that Madonna had the record with 12 (which includes both releases of 'Crazy for You'). Kylie had 11 number 2s, as did Paul McCartney when you combine his work solo, with Wings and with The Beatles. None of these acts have added to their #2 tally since.

Can't think of any acts who could have beaten Madonna since. Rihanna is probably closest to overtaking any time soon as she currently has nine #2s.

Looks like Calvin could debut in the top 20. If not, he should repeak in two weeks time when his album is released
With respect to Artists that peaked at number 2 Sash! were one of the unluckiest percentage wise, 50% of their 10 Top 10 Singles peaked at #2 including their first three.

Really want Rita to make the top 10 with 'Your Song', streaming's letting it down 💔

Hopefully the video's released soon and has a good impact.

Wild Thoughts is going #2 this week so that makes 10 for Rih unless it somehow sneaks #1 a month down the line.

Lorde had one huge hit and that was it, it's not like she had several major hits from her first album.

I'm not too surprised by her relative underperformance.

Update to include Witness and Melodrama? hahahah

This is gold, bravo!
