1.26 Despacito combined vs 0.56 Wild Thoughts :/

I think if the chart rules hadn't of changed, Despacito would have broken Bryan Adams' record of having most weeks at number 1.

but when the entirety of the song is 'you can be the X, you can be the Y' it gets really tedious after a few listens.

Yeah I'm not defending its lyrics (although I really don't think they're as bad as everyone is making them out to be), but lyrics aren't the most important thing about a song, it's still a catchy and uplifting song.

And anyway:

Be students, be teachers

Be politicians, be preachers

Be believers, be leaders

Be astronauts, be champions

Be truth seekers

Surely those lyrics are more inspiring to young people than lyrics about going to a club and drinking and dancing and grinding your booty against someone

well as a dance music fan I definitely agree with this, I just don't find 'Hall Of Fame' to be what you describe and I can't ignore the overly cliche lyrics.

Love that Nicki French's single has crept into the Top 100 of the album chart (The EP version) - I know it only takes a few sales probably but the fact her only real hit was 22 years ago and her Eurovision entry was 16 years ago makes it an achievement
Its a great achievement for Nicki. I realize the sales are small but its good for her. She has never given up over the years.
I think 'Power' should secure another week in the top 10 next week! They're usually one of the acts to get the best of being cherry picked. Unless having both 'Power' and 'No More Sad Songs' on there might split the sales a bit, but I can't see that happening.

Power is one of the first songs, so will get a big cherry-pick boost.

"Standing in the hall of fame, everybody's gonna know my name".

WOW. Inspiring.

Says the person with a Carly Rae sig

"I really really really like you"

" here's my number, call me maybe"

You can't really come for their lyrics

Anyway, they are successful and have had a string of hits

Yas

It can't be as annoying as these:

''Mo Mo bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, Bounce, bounce, bounce, bounce, Bounce in the mother***** house''

''You don't gotta go to work, work, work, work, Work, work, work, But you gotta put in work, work, work, work, Work, work, work, You don't gotta go to work, work, work, work, Work, work, work, Let my body do the work, work, work, work, Work, work, work, We can work from home, oh, oh, oh-oh, We can work from home, oh, oh, oh-oh''

Really enjoying "Rain", glad to see it doing well on iTunes. It's been gaining a bit on spotify but still quite low there. Guessing that'll change once it's added to major playlists.

Also, I wonder if Katy Perry's "Swish Swish" will get a new peak soon? Apparantley the video has been filmed and it's still lingering in the chart, could get a new peak with its release.

You can cherrypick stupid lyrics from any artist you want. The Script do have a very consistent pattern of lyrics that are made up mostly of clichés though.

I'm hoping both of these songs can become hits. I've been a fan of Swish Swish since I first heard it.

I am also lolling hard at the lyrics comments above

Am gonna kiss myself :heehee:

Are we good x26

oh joy, the return of the classic 'says the person with X in their signature' argument.

Exactly. That's the calibre of intelligence we're dealing with here.

Anyway, the two examples given by this person: they're intended to be lighthearted pop songs with an intentional dollop of cheese - The Script are actually trying to be SERIOUS.
