February 21, 20187 yr Oh I'm so glad Stormzy wasn't just performing 'Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2', I've never been able to get into that song as much as his grime stuff. Awesome performance *.* (where was the mute button at tho ITV?) Actually very good winners on the whole tonight, especially pleased for Lorde and Kendrick winning the international solo categories <3
February 21, 20187 yr Isn’t global success award basically a fake award for someone who didn’t earn another award. I swear they invented it for 1D
February 21, 20187 yr Really good performances tonight. Only one that didn’t translate well was Kendrick’s. Even ignoring the muting, I didn’t really get the song choice or why that guy was smashing the car. Was really hoping he would have done Humble instead. Oh well.
February 21, 20187 yr Theresa slammed two BRIT awards in a row... really speaks to her success and regard for her eh
February 21, 20187 yr Couldn't be happier for Stormzy, he seems like such a genuine lovely guy and so humbled to be recognised. With some artists sometimes it feels like they kind of expect to win so it was lovely to see him awarded and react so well.
February 21, 20187 yr That was the most I've enjoyed a Brit awards ceremony in a long time, if mainly because it wasn't ludicrously predictable and every single winner was really well deserved - That is really great for Stormzy not just because of the glorious Ed Sheeran snub (except 'Global Success' but that's made up anyway) as while I'm not the biggest fan of his music, it really shows how far British Grime has come and feels very reflective of the year, and I really love how humble and ordinary he seems about it all. He gave easily the best performance of the night too (not a particularly vintage year for those, WTF was that Kendrick performance? :')). Gorillaz winning was an unexpected but really good moment too, even with how pissed Damon Albarn was. I loved Jack Whitehall myself, I don't think I've actually laughed at a Brits host jokes in years. Also, does this put a rest to the claims that Sam is being saved to next year so he doesn't beat Ed? ;o
February 21, 20187 yr not Stormzy completely stealing the show my hair is on the floor. credit where its due to the Brits for not being predictable tho i expected Ed to sweep this thing would've been grand if they didn't blank out half the Kendrick performance (also dat long intro that kept cutting off, did Damon Albarn invade the production truck?)
February 21, 20187 yr Actually really angry at ITV for mangling that Kendrick performance for literally no reason (it can't be because of explicit language because the song was mostly performed as a clean version anyway, only had the word 'bitch' in it a couple of times and 'cocaine' once and ironically I don't think the audio was even muted for any of the actual small explicit parts). What was the point of inviting him to perform? I was excited for him getting a surprise slot there but completely pointless in the end. Luckily there is an un-muted version on YouTube and it was a pretty good performance when you can actually hear any of it. Poor 'New Freezer' being denied its promo moment. </3
February 21, 20187 yr Proper love Jack Whitehall, such a step up from that odious toad James Corden. Glad to see Ed Sheeran didn't win everything he was nominated for as well, which I was dreading.
February 21, 20187 yr Proper love Jack Whitehall, such a step up from that odious toad James Corden. Glad to see Ed Sheeran didn't win everything he was nominated for as well, which I was dreading. He didn't win ANYTHING he was nominated for!
February 21, 20187 yr I only caught bits of it, but as others have said I thought Jack Whitehall did a really good job as host - he seemed to set the right tone without being a bit OTT and full of himself like Corden, who always seems to be looking for some sort of approval. Got to say I was shocked but pleased to see wins for Lorde, Kendrick Lamar and Stormzy. Oh and Gorillaz too. Massive BORE OFF to Foo Fighters for their predictable win though.
February 21, 20187 yr Listened to Stormzy's album - it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, in a good way. A bit long but quite decent to be fair. Much rather listen to that than Ed Sheeran's album.
